En Sweet Home Málaga tenemos un objetivo … Cuidar de ti y de tus vacaciones

When I arrived at the apartment, I contacted the owner. He said that the keys were in a coded box at the door, but that I had to pay a €150 deposit first. I asked why, and he replied that the previous visitor had caused a leak and he needed the deposit in case anything went missing. Out of good intentions, I transferred the €150 deposit, because we came from far away from the Netherlands with a family of six people and we were in an emergency situation. It was very hot that day and we had no other choice.

I thought it was strange because this is not common with Airbnb, but the owner assured me it was because of the damage from the previous guests. Later I discovered via Google that a previous visitor had been in the same situation. I got nervous because he forced me to transfer €150 before I could get the key.

Upon entering the house we were overwhelmed by a stench that came from black mold. All over the walls near the front door. The owner immediately sent an apology message about the mold, which was a serious matter because my children immediately became ill with headaches, coughing and sore throat. And a few days later, when cleaning the coffee cups, it turned out that the sink was clogged. My wife and I then decided to remove the mold ourselves and I kept the owner informed about the blockage. He sent a technician, but he asked €140 for the repair. I referred him to the owner.

The next day, when I washed the breakfast cups, it turned out that the blockage had not been cleared. I contacted the owner again and he responded that the technician would come on Wednesday 7/24/2024. I said it wasn't convenient that day because I was going to the beach with the kids. It later turned out that he had been in the apartment with the technician without my permission. Out of good faith, I thought everything was fine because everything went through Airbnb and the owner sounded nice.

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, when my wife and I wanted to pack in the evening, my bag with my passport, car spare key and an amount of €2,700 turned out to be missing. We were very shocked and spent the whole night looking for where I had left it. I told my wife that it couldn't possibly have been lost as it was well hidden in my travel bag. It must have been stolen on Wednesday when the mechanic or the owner was in the apartment.

Partnered site w/Booking.com publishes incorrect property info

I recently discovered my photos and property information listed on this site among a few others and I don't have an account with them. Apparently this is a partner site of Booking.com for which I do have an account. It's very unsettling to see this as this site has AI generated a profile of my property with incorrect information, like because I mentioned I am a Shiatsu massage therapist in my personal profile on Booking, this site in turn lists every kind of massage like head massage, foot massage, etc. and it makes my tiny B&B sound like a full blown spa. It's ridiculous, plus they say I have bidet and feather pillows - I don't. It's all really backhanded and if someone books through that site I'm going to look like a dodgy business owner (liar). It's unfortunate that the party responsible for this shady practice - Booking .com, gives license and is a necessary evil in the hospitality business.

This is a scam hotel-booking website

This is a scam hotel-booking website. As experienced by others, this website is listing our guest house without our authority and with 100% FICTITIOUS made up reviews. None of the reviews belong to any of our guests and none of the content on this website is authorised by ourselves.
Their standard reply is that they have partner agreements with other websites (like Booking, com) which allow them to sell rooms without a direct agreement with the hotel or guest house. That may be, but they do NOT have the right to fabricate reviews. That is fraud!
This scam company is listed as being registered in Cyprus and UAE.
I wouldn't book through these scammers nor would I give them any credit card details.
Update 10 June 2024:
We threatened Booking, com with withdrawal of bookings from their vampire leech booking portal if they didn't force their "business partner" driving bookings to them with false reviews to remove the bogus reviews.
Result: as seen today, all the bogus reviews have been removed for Highlander House Rothesay. They continue to promote us to the vampire leech, but without the fabricated reviews ie no reviews, as they were all fabricated).
The decision is yours: let these scammers fabricate reviews to drive interest away from your own direct bookings toward the vampire leech...or take action as we did.

FRAUDULENT SITE.

This 'organisation' advertises properties that are privately owned. The freehold of the property to which I refer in this instance is owned by ourselves and advertising units on sites like these is expressly forbidden in the tenants' leases. Upon telephoning, they claimed that the information given is taken from other websites.
THIS IS A LIE!
Do not touch these people even with somebody else's 10 foot pole.

Phoney.

Reviews of our Northern Ireland b&b are very flattering but completely bogus.
Details are harvested from genuine reviews on legitimate OTA sites, but rewrites are amateurish and local information is inaccurate and geographically wrong.
we have no connection with this Cyprus based outfit.

Hotelmix - if you are reading this review, please remove our property with immediate effect, you are not authorised to list it or use our photographs (with all the inaccuracies you have embellished, we certainly don't have tennis courts!) and customers that pay you will not be able to access their booking thereby ruining their holiday. You really are the lowest of the low.
