House Network - the oldest of the online agents - worked brilliantly for us and saved us around £4K+ in agent's fees. They provided the same service as a good High St agent - and more, but for a fraction of the cost.
Awful past experience with High St agents prompted our decision to go with HN this time, apart from which just about everyone searches for a property on Rightmove these days, they don't generally trawl the High St! We saw little point in paying through the nose for a local agent, especially for the type of lesser service we had always received! We took a long time researching different online agents and HN shone out as the best by far.
Once registered (we chose to pay upfront) we were impressed with the smooth organisation, efficiency, ease of contact, flexibility and professionalism throughout. Everything was carried out exactly as and when promised; calls were returned promptly.
They really did offer a far superior service to any High St agent we had ever used in the past. For anyone feeling a bit nervous about entering into this new territory, there's no need. You can have as much - or indeed as little - 'hand-holding" as you like - all at a fraction of the cost of a conventional EA.
The HN valuer/photographer arrived on the dot as arranged, measured up, and took around 35 high quality pictures. His valuation was spot-on and we actually ended up achieving close to that price.
The listing went live on Rightmove, Zoopla, etc, just a couple of hours after the valuer left.
You are allocated your own login / 'control panel' on HN's website where you have control of every aspect of your sale. You have 24/7 access to this control panel, and can edit your listing, selling price, pictures, etc. to your heart's content, and view / send messages to your negotiator at any time, which in our experience always elicited an almost immediate response. You are given the option to book dedicated weekly phone calls with your case manager to discuss any aspect of your sale, although in our case, we found that we never actually needed to do that.
You can either use HN's own property description, amend it or write your own description / add your own photos (although your own amendments / photos do need prior approved by HN to ensure that they comply with the law; however this approval is usually instantaneous.)
As for viewings, we opted to do our own, but HN does offer the option of accompanied viewings at a reasonable extra charge for people who prefer their agent to take care of that side of things.
All our viewers - including our eventual buyers - reported how easy it had been to contact HN and arrange viewings (and since we were also buyers ourselves, this was definitely NOT our experience with certain other online agents when we were trying to book viewings through them!)
We decided not to have a For Sale board, although one was included in our package.
We had regular viewings with none of the usual timewasters as viewers were vetted, and we received 2 serious offers relatively quickly. We accepted one of them and were in our new home within a few months of going on the market.
HN have a commission scheme for recommendation to others, whereby you can earn a percentage of your fee back, and the new customer too is given a small discount on their fee. We did end up recommending someone and our promised commission was paid into our bank account without fuss.
To anyone using the old argument "They don't have any incentive once they have their fee", we would say no, that was definitely not the case. They would not have stayed in business as long as they have, with that attitude! Reputation is everything and word would soon get round.
We would wholeheartedly recommend House Network, not only for the obvious saving of thousands of pounds, but also for the excellent customer service they provide; such a rarity these day.

Simple, fast, honest service and excellent treatment

I have had some issues with Housing Network so I have asked to communicate with the MD Mark Readings. He has been very good in looking into my problems and getting back to me promptly with thorough emails and giving evidence of his investigation into the matter. They have upgraded my Right Move advert to premier as a good gesture.

Very good photos and listing help. Reliable at arranging viewings. Follow up after offer almost non existent. We had a long difficult complicated chain negotiated completely independently as little assistance, interest or follow up provided by house network. If you are confident at negotiating price and doing the follow-up legwork they are good for the price. We did not use their conveyancing services which were strongly pushed. This maybe why we had such limited contact post acceptance of offer.

I Can't fault House Network's service - it has been brilliant from day one until final completion.
