Securing Justice when Police Power is Abused. I’m a solicitor specialising in complaints and civil actions against the police – helping individuals pursue justice after experience of unlawful arrest, excessive force, or other forms of misconduct. With over 30 years of experience and a national reputation, I have successfully sued all 43 police forces in England and Wales and numerous other government bodies, including the Ministry of Justice, and also private security companies challenging abuse of power and securing rightful compensation. My mission is to ensure that the law protects ordinary people. I believe in holding those in authority to account, defending civil liberties, and making justice accessible to anyone who has been mistreated by the police. Every case I take on is about much more than compensation – it’s about restoring dignity, enforcing accountability, and making real change happen. It’s also about restoring faith in the justice system, by empowering citizens and upholding the best traditions of British liberty.

After my son was unlawfully shot by the Metropolitan Police, we reached out to Iain, who has extensive experience in handling claims against the police. From the outset, it was clear that Iain has exceptional expertise in this niche area of personal injury claims.
He provided unwavering support throughout the claim, was always available to answer questions, and kept us regularly updated at every stage. Thanks to his dedication and knowledge, we achieved a substantial payout.
I would highly recommend Iain to anyone seeking justice and accountability in cases involving unlawful actions by the police.

I sub to Ian's emails and read every single one. I feel more informed about the law in general, and police powers in particular, each time I read a new one. He knows how to write well so you've also got entertainment value. Subscribe, I suggest.

Last year I was wrongfully arrested by merseyside police. Feeling alone with no one to turn to, I found Iain Gould and saw some of his work, taking injustice and fighting the police for their wrongdoings.
Iain has been absolutely amazing in keeping me promptly updated in progress with the case, explaining and advising best procedures to follow. Everything he has advised has been absolutely spot on.
If you are ever unfortunate enough that an injustice has been served, I would absolutely recommend to seek help with Iain.

I was wrongfully arrested on 2 occasions. The process of my case was complex. I was offered 3 offers, all 3 offers was rejected with the guidance & support of Iain & the 4th was accepted at court because of the professionalism & knowledge iain has. As a result he was success in receiving the maximum amount in court. My whole journey has been 5* I’ve been contacted / updated throughout the process. The passion he has for helping he’s clients is beyond words. I would highly recommend iain Gould to any one that needs a solicitor! Thank you iain

I would like to Ian Gould for making this process so straightforward. He has always kept me informed and nothing is too much trouble for him he explained the situation, if you didn't quite understand. I highly recommend Ian, for all his commitment to my case and I wish to thank him for the good outcome.

Ian was excellent at explaining the procedures and was very quick to understand the issues. He answered all my questions and I was confident I had an experienced lawyer on my side. We won a settlement against the police and costs too. I thoroughly recommend Ian if you want justice against the police.

Top Guy in the legal world when taking on the police and winning, Plus Ian Goulds blog gives very good advice when being stoped in a public place and when asked questions by a police officer who does not know the LAW ( Rice v Conerly 1966 ) as I have followed Iain Goulds bog for many years Thanks.

Iain and his associate Alex helped me reach a settlement which was far greater than I was initially offered. Their expertise led me to receiving a true resolution for the injustice I suffered, and without them I would not be in such a better position in life now. All I can say is thank you and I will be using their services again if I am ever at a similar point in life.

I have been reading Iain Gould’s articles for years - they are always clear and fairly balanced & he gets great results. I hope to never have cause to complain about the police but without a doubt this is who I would use if I did.

The articles are excellent and very helpful. Everyone should be reading them. (I speak from experience of 'an encounter with the Police')

Put simply the adherence to and upholding of the law of this land.
Sadly the absolute polar OPPOSITE of the current ethos of the police, the mockery of the justice system is perpetuated by the police , and other state institutions yet glibly supported by court system ,another failure and sham.
Enter Iain Gould and his associates, true justice finally emerges from the mire of corruptions ,collusions and cretinism.

In an ideal world, every police officer would behave impeccably, and we would never have cause for concern. But, sadly, that is not the case; while I am sure that some officers do uphold the highest of standards, others do not.
So, what do you do when it all goes wrong and you need someone to take the police on? To date I have never had to do that, but I have for some years followed Iain Gould’s blog and received his emails recounting some of the serious cases he has fought and won. It’s fascinating stuff and what I do know is that if ever I needed a legal expert to have my back where bad policing has occurred, I wouldn’t hesitate to contact Iain Gould.
