5 star quality
After reading the reviews that gave a 1 star it is apparent that most people are not tech savvy or do not follow instructions to the letter. In my personal experience ID.me was quick and easy if you are prepared for the selection you gave and they tell you what you need to prepare for so I do not understand the majority of the 1 star ratings. I highly recommend ID.me as a secure way to access your most important data!
This is worthless app
This is worthless app. I spent 1.5 hrs on it and still having problems. will spend another 1.5 hrs tomorrow and still wolnt get on. Why you didnt go with login.gov is byond me!!! All I have to do is change 3 numbers on a routing $.
User input
Once it was found where to enter my credentials for verification it was easy. Only negative is navigating where to find to put those credentials.
It is easy to set up
It is easy to set up and login to. I always feel safe when sharing information.

Easy to understand prompts on the site filling out information.
Was able to immediately look up my IRS information
The process was terminated before it…
The process was terminated before it could be complete with an incomprehensible error message. When I tried a second time, the photo of my passport was unacceptable, although I do not know why. Getting a video of my face required me to walk around my house trying to find acceptable lighting. I found it slow and difficult to follow. Using abbreviation should be forbidden!
What a HUGE pain trying to get access…
What a HUGE pain trying to get access to this site. If you want IRS info, you have to use ID.ME to get to it. I appreciate that hopefully my information is secure, but it's so freaking secure that even I had trouble accessing it. Not user friendly. Not convenient. Can't we do better by this point?
Terrible experience with ID.me
After receiving scam letters purporting to be from the IRS, I tried to log into my account over several days. However the log in/verification was tedious and simply did not work. Uploading images of driver's license was frustrating and in the end impossible. After the same experience over several days, I just gave up. This process is in serious need of improvement and simplification.
Absolutely worst experience ever
Absolutely worst experience ever. After submitting info, it took over 2 weeks for them to review the info. Now I ask to join a video call and although my camera is working, they say they can't see me and end the call. I need access to IRS so I can claim my tax refund. It looks like I may lose it. I hate ID.me
I need all the help I can get
I need all the help I can get. An ID me does it for me? Thank you very much.
If I can give no stars I would
If I can give no stars I would, absolutely no customer service! Chat is nearly impossible with being in the queue forever and then getting kicked out. There is no telephone support and my issue never was resolved. I’m a retired US Army 1SG, not a bot

Entire process is ill-conceived
This poorly designed website lacks the option to retry self-verification after obtaining your necessary documents. The entire process wound up taking over six weeks to complete because of it.
I had to use id.me to verify my 88-year-old, medically frail, homebound mother-in-law. I couldn’t complete her federal taxes because she needed an IRS security pin this year and I needed access to the IRS website, which is now firewalled by id.me. Unfortunately, her state-issued driver’s license expired in 2022, so it was not accepted by id.me. Neither was her government-issued photo ID.
Anyways.. We managed to transport her to a PA DOT facility to obtain a current state-issued ID. However, since the self-verification option on id.me was no longer available, we were only given the option for a video verification call that would supposedly only take a day or two to complete. Well, It took over five weeks to receive the email confirming that her documents were finally accepted and that she was ready for a video call. By this time, she was well pass the tax day deadline.
Another major annoyance is the fifty-click MFA’s required every time you access id.me and its associated websites. again, she’s 88, and couldn’t accomplish this herself if she tried. Unfortunately, people are forced to go through this ill-conceived process if they need access to any government website now. The creators of id.me have completely overlooked real-world scenarios and made the entire verification process unnecessarily complicated.
The ID.me guy on the phone would not…
The ID.me guy on the phone would not help me until I paid ID.me $100 in fees. ID.me is not a free service and they should tell you it costs a lot of money up front.

Too much AI...another step toward worldwide control...I am not in favor. Bad players seem to stay ahead of supposedly good players.
ID.me failed to login even though all data were correct
While ID.me said my verification was good, it did not correctly pass info to the agency website that I needed to access. It used to work well before they switched to ID.me. Use other login options if given the chance. Agency support was great, but they could not figure out the issue. ID.me support was nonexistent. I never did reach anyone via their chat ofter 90 minutes of trying. Also submitted a ticket. Yet to get a response after several hours.
