Shocking customer service Ikea Richmond

Shocking customer service Ikea Richmond
There is an item no longer listed on the Ikea website, but they had a large number of this item displayed at Ikea Richmond. (Outdoor set: Tunholmen). I had been looking for this item for a long time, as I have a few of the matching chairs. I requested assistance from Aerial in the store to purchase the items on display. She must most unhelpful and told me the item was not for sale without even checking what item I was referring to.
After continuing to ask questions, I managed to get her to reluctantly check what item I was referring to and follow up with a manager. Her manager advised that I could get the item in a month’s time when they take it down from display. Aerial told me this, but did not take down the item name or ask me for my name and contact details. I then explained that once it is removed, it will be sent away and I won’t be able to obtain it at all.
Upon further discussion, she then very reluctantly took my name and number, but still had not taken down any details of the item I was referring to.
I explained that I did not feel confident that she would follow up and get back to me, but that I will be phoning the store to follow up and needed her name. So I took out my phone and took a photo of her name badge.
At this point to she freaked out and told me that that was a violation of her human rights and her rights to privacy and that I can’t take photos of staff in the store. I explained that I was just recording her name, so that I can follow up and I immediately put my phone back in my bag after she freaked out.
Subsequent to this, I then enquired with some other guys on the floor and they were incredibly helpful, told me that I can’t get the item that day, but I would be able to come back during the week when the store was less busy and then the item can be removed.
When I arrived home, Emma (Aerial’s manager), gave me a call.
She enquired to what had happened at the store and told me that Aerial was incredibly upset. She then told me that I was not allowed to take a photo of Aerial’s name badge and that she is just phoning me to let me know that such behaviour will not be tolerated and she won’t be assisting me in getting the stock I require based on the fact that I had offended one of her staff members.
This is outrageous. I explained to her that Aerial was very unhelpful, I was not aggressive or rude in my behaviour, had done nothing unreasonable and that Ikea does not state that you are not allowed to take pictures in the store. Also, she was not present at the time and cannot simply make assumptions and refuse to assist a customer.
I have always enjoyed shopping at Ikea and in the past all staff have been incredibly helpful, but I am really disappointed by this experience and hope that it will be addressed.

Terrible service

Ordered online 27th of September, Month later hasn't even been picked.
Emailed asking where the order was, No reply.
Finally got through to customer service only to be told the estimated date for delivery was early November.
When we told the lady on the phone that we would not be buying from Ikea ever again, her reply was.
" Thats ok have a nice day "
Terrible service, staff attitude appalling, They really don't care.

Website is Awful - Inaccurate and Buggy

I know what I’m getting with IKEA. It will be well designed, but made out of cheap materials.

What I don’t get is their website. For a company this large how is it that their website is this bad?!

It’s soooo buggy! It is constantly telling me “failed to load product info” or “failed to load store data”. Their “Design Tools” are made using Flash, which became redundant in 2008 when HTML5 became a thing. Thankfully Adobe will be discontinuing Flash at the end of 2020 - so it will be interesting to see if this forces IKEA to get with the times and to update their planner tools, or if they just stop having those tools altogether.

The whole website is unreliable - especially on mobile devices, which is not acceptable for a large corporation like IKEA. I recently tried to return items per the information on the website... nope.
The staff were lovely, and tried to say, “we don’t have control over the national website...”. Seriously? The web developers don’t receive information about your specific store; trading hours, and which services they do/don’t do?

Confusing

I purchased online (the website is really difficult to navigate through by the way) and then the next day received a call to say their delivery service was currently unavailable. Obviously this isn't their fault -- it's their delivery group, but I had a couple of problems with customer service. When I went to pick up the items, none of the front of staff had any idea what was going on and it took numerous tries to get my items. The person on the phone said one thing and the manager was saying another. In the end I got my items which were well packed, and my delivery fee waived. It was just frustrating that none of the staff was informed resulting in poor customer service.

Took more than 1 month to deliver an ordinary order.
I didn't even buy any furniture. So after a month when I called them, they asked me to pick it up by myself if I can't wait any longer.
Excuse me???? What kind of customer service is that?
Waste of money and time.

Not happy.

I have always LOVED Ikea. However, I have recently purchased a wardrobe worth $1200 and it has been nothing but stressful and disappointing. Paid $200 for an assembler to put it together. He broke the mirror while putting it on the sliding door. He explained he will call them up and arrange for a replacement to be delivered within the next few days. It’s now been weeks. He has previously assured me three times on three different occasions that he has contacted them and it should all be sorted soon before he then started to not respond. Won’t answer mine, my dads or my mums calls. I have finally got in touch with ikea myself which I shouldn’t have to do at all and was on hold for half an hour. They informed me that they have no record or a mirror being broken or needing a new one???? Almost a month later and still have a half finished wardrobe in my way in my room so I can’t comment on the wardrobe itself at this stage. Would love to review the wardrobe itself if it ever gets finished. What a waste of $200 for a professional assembler and to be messed around so much. Very upsetting as I have always been so fond of Ikea. Don’t see myself going back there any time soon.

Bought a kitchen - du suger!

Bought a kitchen (not cheap) and it's been nothing but a hassle from start to finish trying to replace wrongly sent parts with what was originally ordered.

No one wants to take ownership so I've had to make multiple 180Km's round trips to the Sydney store to sort things out. Never again IKEA.

Du suger!

Appliance repairs at glacial pace

It took over a month for Ikea to replace our kitchen job that failed under warranty. Over 30 days of us not able to cook in our kitchen. This is the second failure of the unit and their lax policies on timing are horrific. We had to constantly call them to move things along - I can’t imagine the timeline if we had not. I will never purchase another Ikea appliance for as long as I live.

Delivery service is a joke! Don’t expect anything to arrive ever.

Delivery service is terrible!
Waited 3 weeks to find out that some of my “in stock” items were now unavailable. Items that were available didn’t arrive as promised so called again. The unavailable items are now discontinued and only option is refund. Other items are now unavailable and at least another 4 weeks wait - even though I’d been told earlier that they were on their way!! Hey IKEA - maybe you could use a computer to track your stock?? Can only assume you’re using a pen and paper system with these ridiculous inefficiencies.

Far too Fiddly!

I bought a chest of drawers from Ikea being generally happy with their products but this time had a very poor experience. The product was called NORDLI which is a small 3 drawer chest set. The cabinet went together fairly easily, so too the drawers. However, fitting the drawers onto the runners is a nightmare. The drawers refused to sit down evenly on the runners or engage with the back fixing. Eventually managed to break the a plastic clip out of one of draw sides. The amount of chip board holding it in position is very slender and simply broke away when trying to position the draw on to the runner.

Ikea makes good stuff but attention to practicality of assembly seems to be slipping.

More stock please!

To have only 2 Ikea's in all of Victoria, both of which are located in Melbourne is ridiculous. The stock control is terrible and not always reliable. Last year I drove 2 hours (one way) to purchase something only to find it was out of stock (earlier that morning it wasn't). The snippy lady told me to check stock online - well, I had. And not everyone lives in Melbourne to make their way there quickly.
Last week I got notification of some curtain rods that were back in stock, a total of 30. Is that really meant to be enough? I had to plan my weekend based on these coming back in stock and luckily I managed to get some. After only 2 days of them being back in stock there were only 7 left.
There's another item that I've had in my wishlist for over 2 months and it's not been in stock since it last sold out which is a shame.

I truly love Ikea and their products. I've been shopping with them for over two decades, but Ikea AUS need to learn from Europe and have way more store locations and stock - please!

Poor communications and poor inventory control

Went into the Birmingham store to order a wardrobe we had seen previously. We wanted it as per the display model but in light oak. We had to go to the doors display area to choose the doors and it turned out that the oak veneer doors were £20 more than the white display model. Although pricey, we ordered the wardrobe. Delivery was. £25 extra. They then ask for a further £10 for them to 'pick' your own order for the goods they're selling you from their warehouse. As time was at a premium on a Sunday I reluctantly paid although it went against the grain to pay for my order to be assembled for delivery. When we arrived home I received a phone call from IKEA saying a divider board was out of stock- would I like to have the item refunded or sent on later. Sending the panel later would involve me in some inconvenience as a door would have to be removed to add the panel.
Reluctantly I agreed to have the panel sent on the Friday. We were told we would hear from the driver an hour before the delivery. When the courier Dave came to deliver the missing panel today we got less than 40 minutes notice (texts and phone logs available for examination) he was a 'jobsworth' robot and said that because nobody was in he could not leave the parcel in an authorised location nor could he leave it with a named neighbour. By the time my wife arrived moments later he had gone. My wife told me that when the main wardrobe was delivered we got less than 20 minutes notice in spite of Ikea saying we would get one hour. Two lessons for IKEA, make sure your inventory is right when you take an order and make sure your drivers honour the 1 hour notice. This is my first IKEA order and probably two stars is generous. Pricey goods, poor stock-holding and shoddy delivery process. Get in touch and sort it out...

Antiquated and frustrating

I wanted to buy a gazebo online and found the one I wanted on the IKEA website. BUT IKEA don't have online shopping nor do they have delivery outside spitting distance of their store. We live 5 hours from their store and I can't buy any of their wonderful decorating goods unless I go into the store and pay instore. Unbelievable. How they stay in business I don't know. They make it impossible for people who live away from their store to shop with them. If I did drive 5 hours to their store and pay over the counter they have no home delivery because we are too far away!! I can buy goods from the other side of the world and get it delivered for a reasonable price but they can't figure out how to enable people to give them money and get Auspost or a delivery company to get it delivered. I was told they knew a company who would deliver to our area for a minimum of $435 regardless of the size of the parcel. Thanks for that. I like IKEA's style but if they don't update to the 20th century at least they're shooting themselves in the foot
