About Incogni

Written by the company

Incogni, a tool that helps prevent your personal information from being stored and sold by data brokers.

Upon the customers’ request, the tool identifies and communicates with dozens of data broker companies, so that the person’s details can be deleted from their databases.

Leading names in the data brokerage industry currently own data on hundreds of millions of consumers, some boasting up to 1500 data points per consumer.

With the introduction of GDPR and CCPA, all these companies are subject to giving or deleting information they hold on the person if they receive a formal request.

However, contacting each firm could take ages due to the excessive response frameworks companies have crafted and perfected.

Surfshark’s team of researchers contacted 36 data broker companies on their own to show how difficult this process can be. To get a final response took a little over 6 days from our first letter with each new data broker and more than 20 days with each established one.

Furthermore, 63% of the large data brokers asked for additional personal data which is not necessary to complete the inquiry (outside of ID copy), asking for a bank statement or even e-signature and thus prolonging the procedure.

“Data privacy is becoming an increasingly alarming issue, yet many people are still unaware of the hidden market that data brokers operate in,” – points out Vytautas Kaziukonis, Chief Executive Officer of Surfshark.

“As the sensitivity and scope of data they possess widen, so does the need to be able to opt-out of it. However, based on recent studies, the actual process of taking back data is an extremely tedious procedure, which requires legal knowledge and lots of persistence.

“Incogni aims to help users opt-out of these practices more efficiently and exercise their legal right to privacy easily.”

The Incogni privacy tool is available for purchase at the official link: https://incogni.com.

A complete waste of money

A complete waste of money. They never removed any thing. I still get all the spam and robo calls and every thing is still available to see on internet. I contacted customer service and they failed to fix the problem and then just stopped responding all together. A total waste of $300

Hello, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear how disappointed and frustrated you feel.

Incogni does not own or control any databases. We act on your behalf to request the removal of your personal data from independent data brokers, as allowed by privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA. While many removals do happen successfully, spam calls and messages can still continue for some time due to previously leaked data, existing marketing lists, or sources that are outside the scope of data brokers. Unfortunately, this can make the impact feel less visible, especially in the short term.

We’re also very sorry if you felt that communication from support stopped or that your concerns were not properly addressed. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have, and we take feedback like this seriously.

If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate the chance to review your case properly. Please reach out to us at support@incogni.com, and we’ll look into what happened and see how we can assist further.

Data Protection is a necessity

Unfortunately with all the data leaks we have today compared to years ago, personally identifiable information is very vulnerable. Incogni provides a platform to remove personally identifiable information from vendors and data brokers, which in turn reduces spam, unsolicited emails/calls, etc. Data protection these days is necessary and Incogni is worth every penny for their service.

Does NOT remove spam phone calls

Does NOT remove spam phone calls or texts. Bombarded with "your loan has been approved" scammer calls. Different caller number each time, so it's obvious spammer scammers are spoofing phone numbers. Incogni isn't capable of stopping this, apparently.

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

It’s important to note that brokers legally have 30–45 days to process these removals. Even after a broker complies, it can take several weeks for the companies that bought those older lists to update their databases.

Please also keep in mind that Incogni cannot stop spam from services you have voluntarily subscribed to or explicitly agreed to receive promotions from.

Amount of spam calls quadrupled in month 2 of service!

I've been receiving text and call spam to my number for years. I decided to try Incogni for two months. Why only two? Because in month #2 the number of text and phone spams I received quadrupled! After years of a baseline of spams, I had never seen so much garbage attempt to hit my phone. The only change had been signing up for the service. I know they will say there is no direct correlation, but I don't think its a coincidence. Glad others are having success, but I'm avoiding this service like the plague. And yes, the number of spam calls continues to this day.

It’s important to note that if your information was compromised long ago, it never fully disappears from the web; our goal is to minimize that exposure and reduce the risk of your data appearing in new breaches.

Often, these spikes are the result of external data breaches, we recommend checking Have I Been Pwned to see if your details were leaked elsewhere. While leaked data tends to resurface, these attempts usually drop off if you remain unresponsive. We can confirm there have been no breaches involving our monitored brokers that would account for this increase.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact us at support@incogni.com.

Before joining

Before joining, I received approximately 20-30 spam calls a day. After joining, it is down to 2-4 per day. However, I continue to receive approximately 15 spam emails a day.

Reduced spam and over 400 sites blocked

The detailed reports they send show a long list of data brokers (some 400) that had my information. Astonishing! Some 400 separate sites.
It’s probably early to tell, but the spam calls have diminished, and the spam emails are way, way down.

Vast reduction in junk mail is number one.

At the beginning there was a vast reduction in my spam emails which was absolutely great. I didn't realize that it should also reduce spam calls so I wasn't monitoring my calls so I can't reliably comment on that. The ease of use and overall effectiveness are what I appreciate most.

Reputable ever since I signed up to…

Reputable ever since I signed up to this I’ve been getting less scam calls and less spam emails etc. additionally it makes me feel way safer since I got hacked into. I’d recommend it for at least 3 months as they have about 400 or so websites they do removal requests from so far. After they are done it’s kinda silent
