We haven't travelled yet, but the experience so far with Nikki as our consultant has been very good indeed. We have thrown questions and requirements at her and Nikki has always responded very quickly and politely.

We will give an updated review on our return from Vietnam but we have every confidence that our trip will be smooth and enjoyable. Well done Nikki!

We are in the process of booking a 13 day private tour with Allison from Indochinaodyssey Tours. We will be traveling in April 2018. I would like to comment on her speed, efficiency, and excellent knowledge of the areas, specifically for our Vietnam trip. She answers every question thoughtfully within no time and without knowing us for very long and only through a few emails, has put together a beautiful trip for my husband and myself. We've traveled both independently and on a bus tour and decided that, independently, you can choose places to go, stop for a rest or take a photo, something you can't do on a bus. However, you might miss out on the significance of a site or something just a little off the highway. We discussed this with friends whilst planning a trip to Vietnam for this October. Our friends recommended we try Indochina Odyssey Tours, showing us pictures, explaining that they had a wonderful English-speaking guide and very obliging driver at each town or city they went to. The cars were comfortable and air-conditioned, the accommodation superb. Their tour organiser, Eric Kong, arranged it all. Why not give it a go?
Our friends were right. We've had excellent service from Eric Kong. He was always very prompt when answering every email we sent. In fact, once we realised the flexibilty available, we first added Siem Reap and Angkor Wat then Luang Prabang, in Lao, to our trip. Nothing was too much trouble for Eric Kong, juggling places, making suggestions, adding or trimming the trip to suit our plans. His patience with our questions and changes of itinerary were exemplary.
We look forward to our trip, feeling confident we'll have a great time, thanks to Eric's assistance. We'll be recommending Eric and Indochina Odyssey to anyone we talk to.

When I began researching tour packages for a trip to Laos, I stumbled upon Indochina Odyssey Tours. They already had a comprehensive itinerary outlined on their website for Laos, which interested me. But what I liked most was that it could also be customized to fit our specific needs.

After browsing their website, I contacted them by email about some questions I had for customizing parts of the itinerary and got a quick reply back from Joan Qin, who provided excellent customer service. She was able to check and fit all my requests, and offer alternative suggestions if they weren't available. We went back and forth on the email until I was happy with the final plans.

I am now back safe and sound from the trip and it was amazing! The itinerary is not set in stone, so we were able to request changes to our itinerary as we saw fit throughout the day. All of the guides were engaging, knowledgeable and accommodating. The schedule was also flexible to allow us free time to roam on our own after the guided tour ended. This was great because most of the hotels chosen were all located within walking distance to night markets and restaurants (or they offered a shuttle to it).

If I am planning to take another tour around Asia, I would definitely choose Indochina Odyssey Tours again! I highly recommend them due to their prompt and accommodating service.

I posted a more detailed trip review on TripAdvisor, but I'll post a shorter version here. I've only been on a tour once in my life and it was a disaster, but traveling all over a foreign country, whose language I don't understand (and with kids), made me reconsider. I am extremely happy I did. With any travel agency, it's the people and service that counts. All the guides we met were friendly and knowledgeable. Odyssey tours is the way to go for a mix of typical tourist stops and off-the-beaten path locations. It wasn't perfect but extremely fun and memorable.

It started with the booking. Nikki was great! In our family, we travel in a large group. She worked multiple vacation iterations until we were able to settle on one that suited our family, one that included rollout bed accommodations for our 3 kids. The deposit (paid by credit card) and arrangements were very simple and painless. We even added an additional party member, our 9th, late in the process but Nikki was able to handle it in stride. Once again, she was great.

The rest of the Odyssey (or affiliate tour) guides (Mr. Bang - Hanoi, Ms Thuy - Hoi An, Mr. Sinh - Hoi An, Mr. Tu - Hoi An, and Ms Dieu - HCMC) and their drivers were fantastic, getting us safely to all our events and showing us all the highlights of their respective city.

Odyssey tours is the way to travel. They take care of everything. You don't have to worry about knowing the local language, what to see or how to get there. When we return to Asia, perhaps China next time, we'll be sure to work with Odyssey.

We booked a 13-day trip to Thailand for our Honeymoon and we have been working with Cherry Wei and the service has been great. You always get nervous booking trips or anything else online but Cherry has made the process very stress free. She created the packet specifically with what I asked her. She responds quickly to our questions, concerns and requests and has kept us informed about everything. We are really looking forward to having amazing honeymoon. Thank you Cherry.

The experience was really excellent - booking (many thanks Liz Ling, very professional and kind in all details); accommodation (hotel great - Meridian Angkor); tour very well organized (many thanks to Cameron and Smith, that did an excellent job on guiding us during the Tour).

Cambodia (Siem Reap) confirmed the high expectations we had regarding the temples, nature, food and friendly people.

I wanted to take a special trip to celebrate my 2 children recently earning their black belts (and I'll admit I felt the strong need to ride an elephant before my time on this earth ends). My husband of course magically and conveniently disappears during the planning time so it's up to me to make it happen. After conducting several internet searches and doing some research I found Odyssey Tours. I reached out to a few different agencies and was by far the most impressed with Odyssey so decided to arrange our trip with them but still not knowing what I was getting into. Fast forward to now I've been working with Nikki Xia and couldn't be more pleased. She's been extremely helpful when that same husband who didn't want to get involved asks the craziest questions or when I need clarification on sleeping arrangements to ensure we're covered. She even went as far as to ensure our hotels have pools since that's something my kids always get excited about (though our trip planned is so action packed there's no telling if there will be time for swimming but just in case). Can't wait for our trip to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia! I'm counting down. Thanks again to Nikki for all of your help and putting up with my husbands questions :).

Friends of ours recently returned from a trip to Vietnam organised by Allison Chang from Odyssey Tours. They had a fantastic time and everything that was promised was delivered. Accommodation was excellent, tours / drivers /restaurants etc all of excellent standard.
We travel extensively and have never used a travel company in the past but the recommendation came highly and we made contact with Allison. She has been excellent in meeting our requirements prompt with responses and we now look forward to arriving and starting our holiday .. I cannot speak highly enough of the service she has provided..

We have just booked our second trip with Odyssey Tours. We visited Vietnam and Cambodia last year and this year we are going to be going to China in October. Our travel consultant is Bruce Peng and we cannot rate him highly enough. Bruce is always professional and helpful at all times. He has tailored the itineraries to suit what we want and he goes above and beyond to ensure we will have a trip to remember. Despite us being in Australia and Bruce being in China everything has been arranged easily with no hassles. We would certainly recommend Odyssey Tours to anyone and hope to plan a third trip with them sometime in the future.

Cherry Wei is our agent at Odyssey Tours did an awesome job for us creating a custom 20 day tour for just our family of 40 different Buddhist temples across Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Cherry is extremely dedicated in following up our plans, very friendly and easy to work with. We look forward to working with her compassion again in the future.

Odyssey pre-trip planning

- I enjoyed the back and forth and flexibility that a privately designed tour allowed us. Cherry Wei was helpful and very prompt in responding to all my queries and many change requests. Together we created a great package which fully met our desires.

Odyssey arrangements
- Perfect! We were met at airport arrivals and /or our hotel promptly each and every time. This is a big relief for first time travellers to a country.

- We loved each and every hotel selected. The small boutique style was excellent for us and minimized the risk of being overwhelmed by large tour groups staying at the same location. e.g.: the Liberty Central in Nha Trang that I selected.

It’s difficult to pick a No.1 as each was charming in it’s own way. Breakfast was excellent in all cases, service was extremely good and the locations enabled us to enjoy the cities on our own. Nam Bo in Can Tho and the Little Hoi An boutique hotels were our favourites.



Tours and activities

- We obviously couldn’t see and do everything in each location and deciding in November while sitting at a computer in Canada how long to stay in each location involved a bit of guessing. After reading several guide books,etc.. I think we came close to seeing and doing almost everything that first time visitors could possibly do.



Guides and Drivers

- the drivers- for the most part spoke little English so our direct communication was minimal however, each of the drivers was polite, courteous (opening car doors,stopping for pictures when asked,etc...) timely, and most important- safe and excellent drivers. As you know, driving in Vietnam is not for everyone!

- The guides- general comments- we enjoyed the company of each of them. Each guide was unique in their own way. It was their personal stories and experiences that added so much to our Vietnam and Cambodia experience. Spending our days with them allowed for much more personal interaction than a guided group tour could ever offer.

- Tipping- we tried our best to follow Odyssey’s guidelines although we were likely on the high end for everyone although sometimes it was difficult as drivers came and went and simple things like not having the proper currency on hand may have made things a bit uneven.

- Tipping others- one thing that I was never sure of and suggest maybe an “all inclusive”, was advice on the amount to tip boat drivers,etc. When on a tour, I usually asked the guides how much would be appropriate. I trust the recipients were pleased.



Mr. Le We only had him for a day and a half and much of that was driving –HCM to Can Tho /return. Lots of activities; boat trips, cycling, floating market, rice noodle making- all in all a very active two days which we couldn’t have done on our own. He was young and full of energy- just what we needed to start our adventure off by trying new experiences.
Mr. Phally We loved him! An interesting man with lots of stories and insights and he knew every inch of the Khmer temples that we saw while in Siem Reap. I completely recommend having a private guide like Mr. Phally to sidestep the crowds and get us to the most interesting parts, photo ops,etc.. Our morning cycling trip out to the temples and getting up at 5am to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat will forever be imprinted in our minds – Fabulous!
Mr. Vinh We had Mr.Vinh both before and after our Halong Bay excursion. He took us to each of the Hanoi main tourist attractions but probably our most memorable day was the trip to the countryside with him. Again,cycling along laneways, past rice fields, watching people going about their daily lives left a lasting impression on us. Vinh also sang us a touching farewell song (at 5:30 am) as were enroute to the airport. We enjoyed our time with him.
Mr. Minh A gentle kind man who we got to know quite well after four days and three cities. The caves at Phong Nha are spectacular and your firm could highlight that more for future visitors.Only a few people we met; both tourists or Vietnamese have seen them. Hue was full of melancholy and our only rainy day. Hoi An was our favourite city and we’re very glad we gave ourselves five days there. Again, Mr. Minh not only knew his facts and kept us informed but he shared life experiences that helped bring our trip alive. it was tough to say goodbye to him.
Nha Trang Mr. Vinh (Short time - for the drive from the airport and then the drive to Dalat two days later). He was young and funny and he made the drive to Dalat very interesting. He also allowed us to change the schedule a bit as we wanted to see the huge white Buddha in Nha Trang and had run out of time so he toured it with us in the morning before leaving for Dalat. This is the type of flexibility that we really appreciated.

Dalat- Our guide for the day was Anh .She was sweet, smart and spoke excellent English. Since we had been in Dalat the previous day, we had basically seen everything that Odyssey had on it’s list, so we changed things up and loved it. We said- “show us what we haven’t seen” and she did! The two of us riding an elephant was just one of the highlights.


Restaurant Lunches

We were very impressed with each and every selection that Odyssey selected. Local food, very well prepared and in a clean environment. The only problem- not really- was that it almost too much food for us. After the beautiful and plentiful buffet breakfasts each morning, we didn’t need such a large lunch. However, the wide variety of dishes gave us a good understanding of Vietnamese cuisine which we really appreciated.



Halong Bay

- the two night/three day circuit is really only 48 hours but looked preferable to the shorter ones . The one nighter appeared rushed and those on our boat never saw the sun while we had a three hour interval the next day while kayaking.

- the cave trip was impressive but only until we saw the ones at Phong Nha later in the trip

- the cabins(upper for us) were good and we liked the opportunity to mingle with other “tourists” as we had little of that always being on our own with our own guide. We made some friends which we saw later by chance in Hoi An.

- the food on the boat was not good. They were the only meals over a five week period that were not up to your standard. The “day boat’ lunch however was excellent.



I hope this brief summary of our travels and relationship with Odyssey was helpful. We had a fabulous time and sincerely thank them for making all of the arrangements. We will be using them again to plan a similar adventure to Myanmar and Laos in the near future.

I have just returned from my 4th trip with Indochina Odyessy Tours.
This time I had a 10 day solo trip to Mongolia. I had the most amazing time.

I explain to Allison what I want out of the trip, what I want to see, the type of accommodation I want and cost. Through emails Allison and I finalise the details. Allison is friendly, professional and is always ready to give advise and answer any questions.

They were there for my husband when he was concerned because he had not heard from me due to there being no service in the parts of Mongolia I was touring. I have booked and travelled with Indochina Odyssey Tours twice before, once to Cambodia and once to Myanmar. They have done such a good job at organising my travel that I am in the process of booking another tour with them, this time to Vietnam. The consultant that I have used each time is Allison Chiang and she has done an excellent job of organising a great itinerary each time I have travelled.

The company offers good value for money and provide exactly what they promise. I think the fact that I am booking for a third time, with Allison and this company, speaks for itself.

When my family wanted to spend our vacation in Southeast Asia, we didn't know where to start. I did some search and happened to find Odyssey Tours, which had got great reviews everywhere. So, I wrote to them asking that we were looking for a 11-12 days trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, comprising of mainly Buddhist temples and other famous monuments. The next day itself, I got a very welcoming E-mail from Ms Cherry Wei, the Odyssey Travel Consultant, with a tailor-made itinerary, all the way from Bangkok to Hanoi. It was a great itinerary, well well thought, and exactly matching what we were looking for. Originally, we had Bangkok, Siem Reap and Hanoi. After discussing with ourselves, we asked Cherry that we wanted to add Chiang Rai and/or Laos to our trip too. She sent us 2 itineraries the next day, one including Chiang Rai and other including Laos. It made it so easy for us to choose. We ended up choosing the one with Chaing Rai.

Cherry had been extremely helpful right from the first E-mail to long after our trip. She made sure we had all the information we needed; she sent them and then, reminded us many times of various things to note while on travel to these countries; she gave us detailed information on visa requirements; she gave her own phone number and other contact numbers in every city; and made us feel very comfortable on our first trip to these countries. And then, she asked for our feedback when we came back, and still keeps in touch with us every now and then.

The tour guides, the hotels, the itineraries, were all exceptional, and the service was the best I have ever received from any tour company. But in all of these exceptional people, one person that stands out extra-exceptionally is Cherry. That says a lot about the whole company that hires such wonderful people as her.

Eric's attention to detail in planning our epic SE Asia itinerary has been outstanding! His ideas & route planning skills have enabled us to include far more than we thought possible in the time allowed but also given some lovely rest periods to enjoy the journey. Every day has something new & exciting to look forward to. He totally understood my brief, was efficient, courteous & prompt in his replies. He managed to arrange payment so I could maintain Section 75 cover, which was so important to me.
