Nice shoes but I am still looking for something more minimalist but with decent lugs... These work ok but without the bouncy insoles

I ordered the 8.5 wide fit from Amazon (US) and they were tiny, like wearing a size and a half too small. I managed to order size 9 wide fit direct from Inov8 and seemed to fit better, first race I used them in my feet were swimming in them, they were far too big and I ended up with multiple blisters and pulling out of the race with destroyed feet. Are US made UK8.5s smaller than EU made UK8.5s?? I now have a pair of £100+ shoes that are far too big and I can’t return

Purchased the Mud Talons to use for World's Toughest Mudder this year. Took it out for a couple of long runs has good grip, didn't notice any hot spots when swiyching terrain and had no issues with blisters. Took them out to Tough Mudder London West and they're not really going to work. For an OCR you don't necessarily want a waterproof shoe but one that drains quickly. The Mud Talon Speed doesn't drain well and blew up like a balloon after the first water obstacle. The legs and grip were good, but once water got in it quickly ruined the fit and I could feel the shoe moving around a lot, especially on difficult terrain. This meant the shoe was rubbing a lot and I'm lucky I only got a couple of blisters and didn't turn an ankle In the summer on drier trails I can see this shoe being fantastic. However of you're looking at this mud talon for an OCR or taking it out on moors or fells with bogey terrain and changeable weather, this is NOT a shoe I would recommend.

I use these for uspsa and they do the job. They grip extremely well to gravel and dirt making for some hard cuts. I have a tall arch and these are pretty tight on the top of the foot but as they break in its not so bad anymore. If I had known I would have went another half size up.

I was a bit disappointed to find the back rim of the right shoe was a bit too tight. I am still trying to break it in, and it is still trying to break my heel in :-)
Very comfortable - even off road. Doesn't pick up any mud or water weight in wet and muddy conditions. Wonderful grip.

Perfect for this time of year when the open ground turns to mush and gravel paths begin to loosen up in the rain. Aggressive studding but retaining a good enough feel for the ground.

Orienteering in California involves a lot of steep hills - sometimes with mud, other times with slippery dry grass. Somehow I never got shoes with decent tread until now, and these are a game-changer. I'm so confident and happy off-trail now! Fit notes: My feet are wide in front, and these fit great with no pinching. Measure your feet carefully and trust the sizing chart. The "US" sizes here are wildly off from any US sizes I know. (I wear US women's 10.5 usually, and in the Inov8 world I am a US women's 12.)

Early days - just one outing so far, orienteering in the Forest of Dean - but first impressions are great. Perhaps the best thing I can say about these shoes is that I didn’t notice them! One caveat: the uppers look scarily thin, so I may end up reverting to my more robust-looking MudTalons (not Speed) where I expect to encounter more brambles etc. Hopefully my worries on this score are unfounded!

I'm giving you ten out of ten, but have not worn the shoes yet!! Bought them for bush orienteering (to replace my wonderful X Talons), and have to await the next bush event as we are out of season till next year. I'm sure they will do the job!

Tried out today in cross country....not muddy, but nevertheless the shoes were brilliant.

I bought there shoes for doing spartan races. They’re great on the trails and drain well after running through creeks and mud. After a 2.5hr race through the mountains they still felt comfortable. The only area I found they weren’t great was on obstacles like Olympus and wall climbs. They weren’t great slippery on these particular style of obstacle.

I was worried when I heard my X-Talons had been replaced by the MudClaw but found improvements on so many levels. We'll see about durability in time, but maybe among my biggest surprises was how quickly mud falls off of these versus the caking that inevitably happened with the X-Talons. Very impressed so far!

Great shoes

I've always found it very difficult to find shoes that fit my wide feet, but my first Inov8 shoes, the X-Talon Ultra 260 V2, were a good fit. When the sole came off one of them, I wasn't happy to find they'd been discontinued but the MudTalon Speed are a big improvement. For my feet, they are really comfy but you can still feel the terrain. The mud (mostly) slides off, and the water drains out fast. In fact, they're my favourite running shoes ever.

Great in the mud

For sure, the best shoes for mud and off trail running.

I bought these for their mud capability and grip which is pretty good to be fair. But they are let down by the fact the slightest bit of water / puddle and your feet are soaked. Unlike my Nikes which handle it much better. The ride is also flat and lifeless making them feel cheap. Shame as the service delivery from Innov8 was exceptional.
