Disgraceful service

Be carful when using this app as they are fraudulent people and poor customer service can only get through via email as the phone line is only for people at the charging stations .

Me and my sister have 2 separate accounts with instavolt and we use a mutual bank card to top up our account . My sister has an outstanding debt on this card caused by an overpayment that did not go through . I have loaded my account with money fine using my account but when I used the mutual card with the debt on it , it instantly blocked my account.

I did not know at the time there was a debt on that card until it blocked me, I got in contact with instavolt who said , their ict team have detected 2 accounts under the same account , which is incorrect as we are 2 different people using 2 different , phones , emails , passwords.

The true reason for the block on my account was due to the fact that I used a card that already had a debt with another account which triggered my account to be blocked. Ict failed to pick this up and see that this is indeed 2 different accounts and refusing the unblock my account despite it being 2 separate peoples account . Basically trying to assigned the debt to me which is illegal may I say .

Absolutely ridiculous uneducated staff that work within the facility and they need to reassess the type of goons they have on ict because it laughable, they make their own assumptions because they do not know the facts. Luckily there is many other charging stations as they will not get my money again neither will my sister be paying the over charge 🤣

If multiple accounts are created with matching information and/or personal details, they will be linked on our system. If one of the accounts has an outstanding balance for a charging session, all associated accounts will be temporarily disabled. This is necessary to prevent fraudulent activity and is always based on definitive data, not assumptions. We must respectfully disagree with the assertion that this constitutes fraudulent or illegal action. These measures are in line with standard industry practices and aim to maintain secure and reliable services for all our users. Our staff are thoroughly trained and competent in handling situations like these with integrity and transparency.

As soon as the outstanding balance has been paid, we can re-enable all linked accounts.

I recently had the opportunity to use…

I recently had the opportunity to use the InstaVolt charging station at Swindon Junction 16 M4, and I must say it is an excellent location. The site is quiet and conveniently situated within walking distance of Costa and a Greek Subway, which made the experience even more pleasant. Additionally, the night tariff is notably favorable. Overall, it was a great experience, and I look forward to using this facility again in the future.

First time using your app this evening…

First time using your app this evening to take advantage of your cheaper charging rates after 8pm. Amazing, simple and easy charging as usual. My free £5 credit was also instantly credited to my account after charging using a promo code. Your charging stations are the best, always working and never an issue.

When you set up an account via the app

When you set up an account via the app, like just about all providers, they ask for a debit/credit card to be able to bill against.

Unlike just about all other providers, they then take £20 and provide no way to have it refunded.

The aim of signing up is to be able to charge my car as and when needed, not provide a free loan to the company.

Seems as though the same issue is a common problem. Charged me £45 local Macdonald's parking, I had but a moment's charge, around 15 mins, and £45 charged to my bank card! What is this folly?!

It sounds like you may have encountered a pre-authorisation charge, which is temporarily reserved when starting a charge via contactless payment.

For some charger models, this is £45.00 and is used to validate the payment method. If your session was successful, this amount will be automatically adjusted to reflect the actual cost of your charge. If the charge was unsuccessful, the full £45.00 will be released back to your account, this typically takes 5-10 working days, depending on your bank.

REDUCED CHARGING PRICE

I really like the partner reduced pricing when using the Instavolt App, between 8pm and 7am, as I previously used it between 10pm till 6am. Instavolt appear to be one of the most expensive providers of energy normally, so this is a bonus
Had a few issues though with obtaining a connection to charge.
Normally Instavolt chargers are easy and simple to use, but not on this occassion.
Phoned the helpline and everything sorted quite quickly. Thank you

VERY Bad experience

Started bad when I couldn't read the screen because it is south facing. Turned out the charger wasn't working, so had to move to another. For some reason when we managed to get it working it took twenty pounds off my debit card. Two weeks on and still not returned. The cost of the transaction was £44.26 . Which is about 12 1/2 times more than I pay at home for the same amount of energy. How is this price justifiable?

Withdrawal issue

I have requested a withdrawal of amount on my account. It’s been 4 days and there’s still showing the option to cancel my withdrawal request which proves it hasn’t even started processing. I have sent emails but only get the automated response. Quick to take money but slow or just plain won’t return it.

So glad to have found Instavolt

So glad to have found Instavolt - quick charging, close to amenities to enjoy while we wait (handy with the kids) and really reasonable prices. We're relatively new to electric car but this has made range anxiety go away, knowing there are chargers available. The app is so easy to use and find where we need to go to access charge.

This station in Ollerton get worse and…

This station in Ollerton get worse and worse. 20th May - Megane e-tech (with heat pump!) - 10:50 am - maximum charging speed so far (after 20 min charging) is 48kW for few moments and then drops again to 28-44kW!!?? And you charge £0.87 for this? Shocking.

While our chargers are capable of delivering speeds up to 160kW, the actual charging speed is largely determined by the vehicle, its battery condition, and other external factors such as temperature. However, we understand how frustrating it can be when speeds don’t meet expectations, especially at our standard rate of £0.87 per kWh.
