Be very weary of this insurance company...

We requested a quote for insurance through our broker and was given pricing. One we agreed to the quote and the documents were drawn the amount changed. There was no notice of change and it would have gone un-noticed but we did the calculation only to find that the amount charged was 800.00 more than originally quoted.

This is not good business and somewhat slimy to be honest. In discussions with the Broker (HUB), Intact would not stand behind there original quote. Sad way to manage things. Be careful in your dealings with Intact and CHECK YOUR NUMBERS!

We have now cancelled and gone to another Broker and Insurance Company seeking a better outcome.

The worst adjuster ever I dealt with!

Review of Intact/blairdirect Insurance Adjuster

I recently had a frustrating experience with Intact/blairdirect regarding a claim I filed. Unfortunately, my interactions with the assigned insurance adjuster have led me to believe that there was a deliberate attempt to delay the claims process.

From the outset, the adjuster seemed unresponsive to my inquiries, often taking days to reply to emails and phone calls. When I did manage to connect, the information provided was vague and incomplete, leaving me uncertain about the status of my claim. It felt as though I was constantly chasing for updates, and each time I thought we were making progress, I was met with further delays or requests for additional documentation that had already been submitted.

The lack of clear communication and the apparent disregard for the timeline set by the initial claim filing were incredibly frustrating. What should have been a straightforward process turned into an exhausting ordeal, impacting my ability to manage my situation effectively.

Given my experience, I would caution anyone considering Intact/BLSIRDirect for their insurance needs. The delays in processing my claim have caused significant stress, and the lack of accountability from the adjuster only compounded the issue. I hope to see improvements in their claims process, but for now, I cannot recommend their services based on my experience.

I feel ripped off!



I requested a policy cancellation with Intact when I moved my mom to a new Retirement Home. I went to my insurance company for new home insurance for her due to previous hassles with Intact. I provided all documents requested at the time (POA doc, proof of new insurance) but the policy was not cancelled at that time. Unfortunately, I did not notice this until many months later and did not follow up right away due to competing priorities (busy working mom, caregiver to ailing parent…)
When I was able to follow up this summer with the broker agency (the previous broker was no longer involved) I sent them the confirmation email from the previous broker stating the policy would be cancelled at the time of the move and I requested the policy be cancelled with a full refund. I was asked again to send proof of new insurance coverage for the period since my mom had moved and my POA doc, which I did. Then I was told Intact wanted a letter from the previous Ret Home confirming my mom had actually moved, even though her name and new address were on the new policy. I sent this. Then I was asked to re-send proof of home insurance since she moved, again. There was back & forth communication for a few weeks with the broker agency. The reps were kind, professional and apologetic but I felt like Intact did everything they could to make the process difficult.

When I provided all the proof requested I expected Intact would provide a full refund.
In the end, Intact only refunded the portion following the recent automatic policy renewal despite asking me to send and re-send proof of new insurance coverage and proof of the move. I honestly can’t think of anything good or constructive to say about Intact. I do NOT recommend Intact for your insurance needs.

I was the executor of a friend’s…

I was the executor of a friend’s estate. He had auto and tenant’s insurance with Intact. When I tried to cancel the policy, I was told I had to go to the broker’s office or email the death certificate, will, and my photo ID to the broker.
It was not convenient to go to the broker’s office. I did not want to email an image of my driver’s license to the broker.
I asked if I could go to another broker in the city with the documents and my photo ID.
I was told this was not possible,
Ridiculous!

What an easy way for Intact to avoid giving refunds when someone dies. Make the cancellation process so difficult that people give up.

Intact has No Customer Loyalty

I have just been informed that Intact Insurance has refused to insure our property. This is after living in our current location since 2011 and before that living in the city for 30 years using Intact to insure our property. Intact stated that they won't continue to insure us as we live on a Gulf Is. They are concerned that if there is an issue, they might have to pay workers rooming costs will making repairs. The reasons for the refusal make no sense as they were not concerned about these reasons in the past. Our Island has an extremely low crime rate and very little incidents of fire or water damage. I feel Intact has made this decision based on greed. I am so angry with their complete lack of customer support after we have shown them such great loyalty. Shame on you, Intact.

Can't rate any lower or I would

Can't rate any lower or I would. Disjointed, amateur, ignorant, absolutely zero sharing between departments, inadequate rental vehicle (had it for a week out of the month since my car was wrecked). Awful service, either useless or worse than useless, and that's a reflection of the organization not the individuals working there.

Worse company ever

Worse company ever. Will lowball you to a 1/4 of the actual damage cost and than drop you like a hot potato after you make a claim. Very sneaky and manipulative.

Intact insurance is a nightmare

Intact insurance is a nightmare. They bought out Unifund who I was very happy about for 5 years. They didn't provide me with any details as to the change in premiums. I had 2 vehicles and home insurance with this insurer. Once the renewal date happened on Oct.4; they increased my premium $200 over and above what I was initially paying. Zero changes happened between my driving history with Unifund and subsequently Intact insurance. They had a vehicle on my policy (1 of the 2 vehicles) that was written off and withdrew this money from my account anyways. The vehicle written off was hit by another motorist. I had repair work done on that vehicle and Intact claims they are maintenance related repairs and they are not maintenance related parts. They want to low ball me with the vehicle theyve written off by not giving me back any of the repair expenses accumulated in the past 6mths. They are wicked. I will be posting on every single social media platform including our local social outputs the level of evil displayed by Intact. I wouldve rated them "0", however that option wasn't available.

Scam

Terrible company, insane premium, did not contact me whatsoever and renewed my auto insurance and bumped my premium from $980 a year to $3500! Cancelled the insurance and paid the cancellation fee cause it’s such an inconvenience for them. Found another insurance company and the premium is $1058. Avoid intact scamsurance

prepare to be gouged!

I've never had a claim, but Intact insurance has increased my house insurance an average of 18.5% EVERY year for the last five years.. Then they insult you by saying this includes your "customer loyalty" discount. Absolutely outrageous, and a lesson learned. Goodbye intact..forever.

AVOID IT

I’ve had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with my insurance company. Out of nowhere, my premium increased without any explanation, notification, or consent on my part. I wasn’t informed of the price hike until I noticed it myself, which was shocking to say the least.

When I reached out to customer service via email, the agent was completely indifferent to my concerns. There was zero empathy or willingness to help me understand or resolve the issue. It felt like I was just another number to them, with no real care about their customers’ experience.

To make matters worse, the only options they offered me were even more expensive! The agent practically told me that if I didn’t like it, I could quit, but I’d have to pay a fine for canceling. It’s absurd!

In conclusion, this company will raise your premium without informing you and, when you finally catch on, they’ll tell you it’s too late to do anything but pay more or pay a fine. Absolutely unacceptable! I would never recommend this company to anyone. Avoid at all costs!

They will make your life hell

everything went wrong. even after giving them 20 yrs being a customer as well as my family giving them 40 yrs, they have treated me very unfairly since I was in a no fault accident. it has ended up costing me alot of money, should have been a write off but they had it repaired by bannister gm in edson who also rips people off and did a horrible repair job. They never paid me the depreciation of what was lost after accident. Now I have a 2014 escape that should be worth up to $11,000 is now worth maybe $1000 and good enough for parts. I've fought them for 4 years now asking for something. They are liars and haven't paid me anything for it or had my poor repair job fixed. They are a horrible and Greedy insurance company!

STAY AWAY!!!

STAY AWAY!!!!
I canceled my motorcycle insurance after I sold my bike on Aug1/24
It’s now Sept. 24 and I just received notice my final with payment will be taken on Oct 7th
I called customer service who were not very helpful.
They claim there are fees and also conveniently delayed processing the cancellation.

INTACT COVERS UP

I thought they are the best in the industries but I prove myself wrong after all. If you complain about their employee and asked for manager you need to wait for 48 hours before the manager calls you. That is if they call you at all, as for me 72 hours passed no calls from the manager. Now if you call their customers experience hotline same thing will happen. I felt they're covering each other and customer satisfaction is not their priority at all.

Worst insurance company ever

Worst insurance company ever. After a major storm and rainfall in Montreal, my friend's flood damages were not covered because "it is no longer considered rain once it hits the ground". Apparently the flood "was not caused by rainfall"...just water that fell from the sky? He lost over $6000.00 worth of personal items and Intact was not by his side.

They're lier and stolen people not an…

They're lier and stolen people not an insurance company so i was deal with them by 289$ as a payment monthly but i will pay 464$ per month after only 6 months. Right now i told them to cancel my car insurance so they says i have to pay for around 700$ because i was deal with them. But they don't care about i was deal with them by 289$..
That is real and i will suggest everyone to not open insurance with that company please because you will be in stress and sorrow with them.
