Renewal service
The online passport renewal service was straightforward to use, and I am saying that as someone who is a basic IT user. From completing the renewal process online, it took only 5 days before I had my new passport in my hand. Additionally, I had reason to phone the support centre before I applied, and I got through without any waiting, and the adviser was very knowledgeable and able to help straightaway. All in all, I think this is an excellent service.
A First class Public Service
The recent software issue resulted on 1 of our new passports needing immediate change - we were informed by email and a telephone contact number was given for urgent cases. We telephoned and a very polite friendly helpful Gentleman let us know they were opening especially on Sunday to facilitate clients travelling. Up early on Sunday and only 3 or 4 people there at 7.45 [we were keen Ha!]. At 9am there seemed to be about 40 or 50 people. Convivial wait chatting. At 9am doors opened and a number of extremely engaging empathetic members of staff very adeptly explained the process and invited us in - Every member of the passport team was helpful and approachable on a level that is rarely seen in even the most dynamic private sector companies. Superb, coordinated and professional response to the issue with a level of empathy evident from each and every member of their team (who remember were working an unscheduled Sunday) was palpable. Adrienne collected her Passport at 12pm ! We would also add that over recent years our family's experience of our Passport Service has been first class and really efficient.

I went in stressed out because I realised my passport was out of date and wasn’t sure if I would be able to travel, I’m not good at on line or forms and they patiently walked me through the whole procedure. I am Irish but have lived in Scotland for 24 years and have applied for an Irish passport - they called my witness several times whilst she was in school class working as a teacher, I called the same number back to advise them that she cannot answer during school hours - the woman sharply asked my how I had gotten her direct number.. then she finally got my witness and all the info needed but still decided to decline in saying I needed to send my marriage certificate, birth certificate and letters with address - they already have my uk passport details with my married name on .. they then closed my application 17 days early because they say it takes 20 days to process once they receive something ?! I had to order the marriage certificate because after a move I couldn’t find it and this is why I had not sent it yet. Several phone calls of different info and getting nowhere! It’s honestly a disgusting way to treat people.

Unbelievably good service
Unbelievably good service. Can’t believe the turn around time. I applied for a renewal on Tuesday night and received my new passport on Thursday morning. Extremely efficient 👍 well done Passport Office!
DISGRACEFUL SERVICE AND ATTITUDE
As an Irish person I am
Embarrassed beyond Belief at the service and attitude of the staff who work here. No matter what they’re sent, there’s an issue. The lady I spoke to today told me I didn’t have to get an Irish passport I could go get an English one when I said their service was superior. For the price we’re paying including postage and verification the service should be better!! Absolutely disgusting!!
Turnaround Service
I applied online yesterday for my passport renewal. I did my photo in a Photo Me booth and I received my new passport this morning. What a service!! Thanks to everyone involved.

I have been waiting for my passport application for **7 months**, far exceeding the 2-week standard.
I have exhausted all formal communication channels (email, phone, official complaints) and have received no reply from anyone. The lack of communication is unacceptable. This is a complete failure of public service. My case is a clear example of bureaucratic indifference and lack of accountability. I am still waiting for a response and a solution.

New passport app - third request for resubmission - each time takes them x6 weeks before they tell you to resubmit. General obfuscation and incompetence. I am actually IN Ireland on hols and can walk in & sort it today but they tell me I HAVE to resubmit from AUSTRALIA & take ANOTHER 6 wks ffs!

I am the authorising person for a passport application. The office said they can’t get hold of me. They haven’t tried. The applicant has tried twice. Today they have ‘thrown out’ the application again… but no one has tried to call. Absolute shambles.

The passport office said they “returned “the original documents , but no date or tracking number given. We never got them. I Submitted a formal complaint which is being ignored. I had to pay out more money out for FBR originals and they said another 6 months months for FBR and then I can reapply for passport. Awful service no accountability for their mistakes.
Total lack of professionalism
My passport renewal was returned as the picture was not acceptable. Two telephone calls and two advisers would not say why it was not accepted but made several different and contradictory suggestions, including one that I was too close to the camera, and one that I was too far away.
How am I supposed to take a new picture when they won't tell me what is wrong with the first one?
Luckily I am in a position where I can apply for a British passport so I asked them to cancel the application.
Now I am told that the documents will be returned within fifteen working days of the cancellation, thus delaying my application for a British passport. (It is now seventeen days since the cancellation) They cannot tell me what is going on and can only fob me off with an email address.
Possibly even worse is that they won't process the refund of my application fee until thirty days after the cancellation.
I don't know whether this is incompetence, lack of training or deliberate obstruction. Whatever it is, things need to change.

Almost impossible for me
Almost impossible for me, an Irish citizen to get a passport, they've returned my application now three times looking for further documents. Unfortunately the "O" in my name was never entered on my birth cert but I have been using it since I was a child (47 years old now). All my interactions with the state i.e revenue, welfare, HSE all have my name on file containing the "O". I bet if my name was Michael the third junior McGinley/Stokes/Connors or MccArthy with no birth cert and I couldn't read or write I would have my passport within weeks. Same goes if I was from the bowels of Afghanistan and I had a name they couldn't even pronounce. They hand these passports out like smarties to the British, but if you're Irish you haven't a hope of getting one.
