No wait at the nice new Pisa airport rental hub which is 2 minutes walk away from the car. No hard sell on insurance nor fuss on return. We took photos and added some marks to the contract, which... See more

Lost car key and been charged 950€,
600€ for the key and 350€ for car recovery. I pays this on the counter the day I went to collect the replacement car (no spare keys available). And yet they charged me the credit card again. So almost paid twice.
5 days to recover the car and 1 month later I am still waiting the refund of the money they blocked on my card. I don’t know anything about belongings left in the car. Btw, the car was given to me with 1/4 of petrol in the tank and when they recover the car for the key loss the tank was full. Still waiting.
Never again!!! The worst experience ever!!
AWFUL! All went well until I returned from holiday to discover that I’d been charged £800 for alleged damage done to the car that I was unaware of. NEVER use the key drop off box. Make sure that you are there when you return the vehicle and can check for marks together. The £800 deposit that they have kept for the alleged damage is more than I should have been charged according to Italy Car Rental’s pricing matrix. Although I was insured up to the hilt and had CDW, I cannot be reimbursed until ICR explain this discrepancy. The problem is that despite continual requests, they have refused to reply to any requests to explain this difference. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
This company is a total fraud. Avoid them at all costs, they will give you scratched cars and put old damages on you and charge your credit card for that. It’s a scam, beware, specially at Bergamo airport in Milan.
When I came back to return the car, they found very small scratch on the wheel. They made me to pay 800 Euro unfairly. No any means to discuss on issue. No any means to review even the expense, just I should pay what they wanted. When I tried to contact the head office in Roma, answered me “only to pay what they decided”.
Be warned. The number plate fell off on the way from the airport to where we were staying. How is that our fault that they can’t keep the car in a normal state of repair. Anyway they have now charged €1500 for that YES €1500 for a number plate. If you rent a car with these criminals you are absolutely crazy. They were very nice btw at the airport . Then as soon as you are back in the UK they hit you. And try arguing or disputing with them from the UK……..They get one star as can’t give zero.

The staff at Verona airport were outrageously unhelpful and rude.
1. Arrived at 4pm but had put on form 4.30. They said they had no car and to come back in 30 mins. Absolutely not true and I said lets start the paper work and they refused. Particularly gaulling as it took 3 hrs to get the car when we started at 4.30
2. I booked thru Ryan Air, the drivers name on the coupon was my email and surname. They said they couldn’t give me a car as it wasn’t the name on yhe driving licence. Nothing they could do. I had to speak to Ryan Air. No helpfor 1st 2 hrs. I spent £100
on phone calls. For some reason after 3 hrs they sorted it. They cld have done that at 4pm. They clearly enjoyed every minute of making us feel
stupid and suffer.

My valid driving licence was declined by an ItalyCarRent representative at Bergamo Airport on the grounds that only International Driving Permits (IDP) are accepted for licences issued outside the EU. I am a resident of Spain, where my licence is fully valid. On my previous rental with ItalyCarRent, I presented the same licence without any issues. I have an account on the ItalyCarRent platform with one previous successful reservation, and the company holds complete information about me as a customer, including copies of my documents and the valid driving licence presented at that time.
While completing a new booking for €75.95, the service accepted my reservation and payment without notifying me of any changes regarding International Driving Permit (IDP) new requirements. The representative at Bergamo Airport directed me to the "customer care" email address to resolve the matter, I received no response from that address, which is hardly what one would expect from a Customer Care team. I subsequently contacted the website contact email and received a prompt reply stating that my refund request had been declined, with no alternative solution proposed, despite the fact that the total amount of €75.95 consists of:
- Car rental: €38.95
- Italy Car Zero Stress Insurance: €37.00
Since I did not use the car, the insurance was clearly never activated and should not be retained. Before ItalyCarRent cancelled my reservation, the vehicle had been booked for no more than three hours, making it highly unlikely that any rental opportunity was lost as a result. Furthermore, I successfully rented a car from another company at the same airport using the same driving licence, demonstrating that an IDP is not a strict legal requirement in Italy.
The company has since stopped responding to my emails entirely, which strongly suggests a deliberate decision to retain the full €75.95. This is not only deeply frustrating for a returning customer but raises serious concerns about fair trading practices and consumer rights.
Here is the outcome for ItalyCarRent:
- Collected €75.95 for a service never rendered
- Lost a returning customer
- Earned a fair and honest public review
- Handed a new loyal customer directly to a competitor
Instead of communicating with the customer directly and offering at least a partial refund for unused car insurance, they offer a pretty generic answer. Bravo.

This company is scamming shamelessly. Reference to a fiat panda registration number GS063DY They're still scamming as is clear from the rest of these reviews. We got done by the "lock is broken" scam in Olbia, sardinia. The woman checking in the car went directly to the car drivers door, inserted the key and said "it's not working". She checked nothing else. She knew exactly where to go and I repeat, didn't bother looking at anything else because she'd made her "kill". I'd love to know how many times they have worked this scam on renter's and milked 380 euros every time. Dishonest thieves. Let me know if you've had the same experience. I also love the responses from the company to all the bad reviews. They are all exactly the same and say they are going to use feedback to improve. But they continue thieving. UPDATE: Look at the company's response - it is word for word the same as every other response they put up to every other of the countless negative reviews. It's laughable how shameless these people are. They have no intention of changing anything in how they treat and scam their customers - and seems to exist without any fear of sanction. I really hope the Italian trading standards lock up some of their directors...

The car I hired, a Lancia Ypsilon automatic, was very clean and was a pleasure to drive.
The pick up and drop off were quick and efficient and the personnel involved were very professional.

Shocking, making us pay for a shelf in the car that is ‘missing’ when it was never there, stay away from these thieves

Reply from Italycarrent
Easy to book. Friendly staff. Guide you through the process. Provide all information needed. Cars are nearly new clean. Whole process is quick and simple. Will definitely use them again.

We are still waiting for our car 90 minutes after the time we booked it for, and there has been no movement in the queue and no communication

Bunch of crooks who exploit your time schedule by claiming existing scratches are damage on your car and it was new when you took it, never rent from them again.

Reply from Italycarrent
Do not use them.
Scammers that invent tiny damages to steal your deposit.
If you for some reason chose to use them do film the entire car in high resolution and up close around the wheels and other places. And still expect them to steal your deposit.
The strategy was this:
Pickup
Cause confusion by being incoherent and rush the people renting. Give a document that's impossible to comprehend. Point at random scratches that are already in the preexisting damage report making it difficult to get an overview of which damages are already in the report.
Be rude and make people want to leave fast.
Return
The same woman who did the inspection at pick up went out and went straight for two specific tiny scratches that we didn't make. One of them a 3mm long scratch in the alloy on the wheel.
Checked prices for 10 minutes and "surprisingly" ended on a price all by herself without a mechanic involved which ended being 930. 30 euro more expensive than our deposit. But the "nice" woman gave us a discount so we landed exactly on our deposit. What are the odds 🤥
All the time she told us that booking would get the money back for us because we booked insurance with them instead of the rental company.
So to sum it up, this company is a scam.

I would prefer that you used my feedback to get me back the 930 euro hidden fee that you stole from us. Yes, 930. Your deceiving employee ended up withdrawing the 30 euro discount from my wife's account after we got home.
If you do, I'll stand corrected and edit this review accordingly, but until you do this is just empty promises.

The car was in horrible condition. The car had tons of scratches. We missed photographing some and got charged over 1000 euro for them. Worst rental experience of all time. Never again!

Reply from Italycarrent
AVOID AT ALL COSTS !! It might be cheap but they will make you pay hundreds of euro for a tiny scratch that was already there.

1 STAR IS TOO MUCH - AVOID THIS COMPANY - THEY ADD INVENTED DAMAGES AND CHARGE YOUR DEPOSIT AFTER YOU'VE LEFT. THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TRAVELERS WHO HAVE FLIGHTS TO CATCH AND NO TIME TO DISPUTE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND RENT ELSEWHERE. AVOID THIS COMPANY

Very helpful and friendly. Would use again if I ever go to Italy.
