I'm reluctant to give 1 star

I'm reluctant to give 1 star! I've only been with Mercari a few months and have more unshipped & undelivered items than all of my 25 years on eBay combined. Mercari asks the buyer to cancel the transaction for non-receipt of an item, instead of enforcing their policy and canceling it themselves. Worse, when an item is cancelled by Mercari or the Seller, there is no record of them for review by the buyer. There is NO protection for the buyer. Yes, they issue a refund, however it doesn't make up for the lost expectation, or the lost opportunity to purchase from someone else. Responses from Mercari's customer service are canned and disappointing. If the sellers who all claimed to have shipped the items were honest, I would have received at least one of them after my refund. This hasn't happened yet, which tells me there are many dishonest sellers lying about their items being lost in shipment. I have seen many items listed on both Mercari and eBay by the same seller. When someone purchases the item from both sites, one of the buyers loses. Very dishonest!

If you make a purchase through Mercari, do not depend on the transaction to be fulfilled to completion.

Mercari refuses to honor thier own…

Mercari refuses to honor thier own shipping protection policy. Had an item practically destroyed in transit to buyer. Mercari's response, I should have wrapped it better....insane? The whole thing was in a solid box wrapped in bubble wrap. So I lost out on a sale and lost my product to sell.... quality! I will never use again, seller and buyer beware these people suck.

The greedy CEOs have decided to…

The greedy CEOs have decided to increase the sellers fees by almost 3% with an extra 30 cent fee as well during a pandemic. It's my sole source of income right now. The fact that they decided to do this right now is disgusting. The support team is lovely. Unfortunately, the CEOs are horrible. I only used Mercari because they had less fees than ebay, but it looks like they are gonna be about the same.

I have given many opportunities for…

I have given many opportunities for Mercari to be a revenue flow for me but the awful truth is that they allow too many trolls to run their sellers away. There are people out there who are allowed to comment on your stuff just to tell you bad things. People will buy stuff and return it just because they had buyers remorse. The returns are damaged. People will go out of their way to buy something from you just to leave a bad review because you have blocked them elsewhere. And Mercari allows people who buy to say ANYTHING. And I mean anything. Unfounded untruths that cannot be proven can be posted on your page. Then your name is sullied because you sold to a TROLL. That’s your mistake. The customer service department takes FOREVER to get back to you. They claim that Covid and their unexpected large growth is the apology for not helping you faster. But while they can use this as an excuse, people are just terrible to you. Just don’t do it. Go somewhere else.

I love Mercari 🛍🎁👗👠🛒💝

After reading the reviews of Mercari, I feel lucky to not have experienced a negative moment while selling on this platform. (As I knock on my wooden desktop).
Every transaction I have completed on Mercari has been straight forward and flawless... perhaps they have made some changes to their protocol??
I’m not sure but all I know is they have been more than transparent and their listing process is simple, quick and easy...far easier than eBays long winded, anal item specifics they require.
They only drawback I have encountered through selling on Mercari is the pre determined shipping rates are excessive to the party paying it. For instance... you can ship a pair of jeans (or anything over 1 lb priority flat rate envelope for $7,99+/- yet they charge minimum 9.99 for UPS ground. That’s quite the profit if you times that by the million of shipping labels they provide. Also, they do not have access to live customer help..another drawback.
But with those two factors being the only drawback I have encountered I must say I am happy as can be with my experience(s) as a seller on Mercari.
I think it has a lot to do with you get what you put out there, and I am grateful to have found this site!!

Mercari accepted a return for a buyer from me did not have an answer of why they accepted the return! The buyer did not respond either ! I was left in the dark !

Terrible customer service and outright thievery!

I purchased an electric wheelchair for my father through Mercari. UPS put the label for the 2k chair on the wrong box and ended up delivering me a box of 100’s of pieces of wrapping paper. UPS opened an investigation. They decided that they were at fault and as Mercari was considered the seller, all Mercari had to do was submit the proper paperwork to them and they would reimburse them. The seller and I began to communicate with Mercari at this point. Mercari was evasive. They tried to throw blame on the seller saying that she was trying run a scam by mailing the box of wrapping paper instead of the chair even though UPS sent us the video of the seller coming into the store with the chair and sending it. They did eventually reimburse me, but they only reimbursed the seller a portion of what she lost and unfortunately, I think she was too stressed to fight it at that point. They essentially stole from her and they caused both she and I a number of sleepless nights and a lot of anxiety, which could’ve been alleviated if they would have only communicated with us as opposed to freezing us out and not answering our emails. Btw, they have a phone number but don’t expect if you call for anyone to answer....EVER! I would NEVER use them as a buying/selling platform again!

The worst customer service ever you will not get paid

Mercari give buyers three days to rate you so that you can get payed. I sold a pair of shoes to a buyer and included the receipt in the listing. The buyer waited three days to rate me and then requested a return. I contacted mercari because I thought it was unfair, mercari said they would respond to the return request two weeks ago and I haven't gotten my shoes back or the money. They basically just let the person have my property for free, and now they are blocking transactions. Terrible app awful experience do not sell on there they will waste for your time.

mercari I must say has to be the most horrible selling platform, customer service is autobot and the reasons for a return from a buyer to seller is ridiculous , as a seller I had a buyer who didn't like something she bought NEW from me , she used it , took pictures of what?? then returned it and mercari allowed this, I deleted my account after that fiasco, no customer service horrible company..

Legit

I am mostly a seller, but I do make some purchases. I have never encountered an issue. My money has always transferred to my account when I requested it, no charges have been made that I didn’t allow, and whenever there’s been an issue, I have been fully refunded. Not once have I been scammed. Nor has anyone I know or any of my customers.

0 Stars. Horrible Horrible Platform

I truly want to give it a 0 star if I could. The customer service is nonexistent! My account was suspended two weeks ago for "unusual activity," so I went to the Help Center to understand why. However, I never got a response. Furthermore, I sent out 2 more tickets demanding a reason, still no response. Given that I've seen numerous people complain about the same issue, I'd definitely suggest everyone to NOT use this platform. Seriously the worst.

I sold on Mercuri New phone and I got respond from the buyer that screen on a phone damaged. I was following all protective guidelines, the phone was in a original box it is no way the screen could get damaged! I contacted Mercari representative through their app, and they told me that I didn't follow shipping protection guidelines...WHAT? They are unable to assist me farther in this case. So basically they send me Damaged Phone Back!!!!!!! I lost a lot of money for nothing!!! How the Mercari even exist??? You can't talk over the phone, it is No manager and they are a SCAMMERS!!! Don't sell on this site anything that worth money, the Mercari will screw you and take your new expensive item for free!!!!!

This site is a scam. Would advise anyone to steer clear of it!! I have 3 charges on my checking account from Mercari. They add up to around $40. Unable to determine what these charges are for? I do not have a Mercari account, or have I ever purchased an item on Mercari. Of course, it seems impossible to call/contact Mercari in any way. This site is a scam. Would advise anyone to steer clear of it!!!

very flabbergasted.
on the selling interface, one is asked if they want to use "smart pricing". This subject cannot be found anywhere in your user dashboard, or the simple instructions on how to sell things. I had to contact the company for the meaning.
I have saved my listing to drafts, and there is no way to open drafts.
System is putting in a recommended shipping rate. No way to change it. The rate is $17.00, and I just want 20 dollars for the item.
The site advertises a 10 percent flat fee for selling, yet you will be have state tax applied.
Bleh.

Mercari Supports Abuse

This app doesn't care at all about the selling experience of sellers on the app. They cater to the buyers, and welcome the abuse of the rating system by buyers to earn money. Mercari changed the way ratings happen. You used to be able to dispute unfair ratings and have them reviewed. If it was approved, the rating was completely removed by Mercari. Now, their awful policy is "Ratings on Mercari are intended to be a reflection of personal experiences a buyer or seller had during a transaction. We believe ratings create trust and transparency in the marketplace. Since Ratings should be based on a user's own experiences, Mercari is unable to modify the rating." This is a recent, and horseshit policy that only caters to abusive lying buyers that screw over legitimate sellers.

I have been trying to contact Customer…

I have been trying to contact Customer Service at Mercari regarding a problem with an order and it is impossible to talk to anyone. The website takes you in circles and the "help" page does not answer the question you are searching for. Don't make purchases on Mercari and then expect any help with problems that come up as a result.

Account closure

I created an account to sell an item, and the next day, someone bought the item. As I was getting ready to package to ship that item the same day, I got an email that the buyer canceled the item. Ok. No big deal. A few moments later I received an email from Mercari stating that that were closing my account due to unusual payment activity. I attempted contacting their customer service team multiple times with a generic answer received and no supporting proof of any wrong doing. There were no payments made or sent through the account. I only had the account for approximately 48 hours, if that, before they closed the account. Very unhelpful and terrible experience.

You Won't Get Your Money

I joined Mercari July 2020 as a seller and did fairly well. I requested a money transfer to my checking account on June 29 . My request was denied. I reentered my banking info. Another request on July 2 was denied. A third request on July 8 denied again. Yet, with each denial Mercari managed to capture their $2 denial fee + their 10% selling fees. I was told there was something wrong with the info I provided. Your banking info is conveniently hidden by security dots while logged in. They have made it impossible to verify your numbers.
I have no trouble with other online transactions using this account.
I finally filed a formal complaint with the San Jose BBB in an effort to recover my $200.00.
