Not fit for purpose

This isn't a recent problem, it has been going on for years.

ITV Hub often:
Is very slow to fire up.
Or refuses to fire up.
(Yes, I am describing it in antiquated 'steam engine' terms as that is what it feels like).
Stops at a certain point in a programme or film and won't play beyond that, if you try to play the same programme later it stops in the same place.
Hangs after ad break and won't continue.
Will not pause. If you press Stop; then Play, it starts at a much earlier point in the programme.
Plays at 'fast forward' speed without sound like an old b&w 'flick'.

It is generally a dysfunctional nightmare.
I thought perhaps it was my Smart TV, but it's the same on other family member's sets.
Obviously from the overall reviews on TrustPilot, it is not fit for purpose and needs a competent IT Consultancy to re-design it from scratch.
It has ad breaks, presumably advertisers are paying to run their ads on this very sub-optimal platform.
ITV receives money for programming from government, this money is from the TV Licence fee pot.
BBC iPlayer is as smooth as silk in comparison. All4 and My5 are also much less glitchy than Hub.
ITV owes it to viewers (licence-fee payers) and its advertisers to improve this catch-up facility. It doesn't need improvement, it needs replacing!

Possibly the worst app ever!

Is this app so bad to encourage you to take out a paid subscription?
Can watch programmes until first ad break. The ads don’t play properly, they seem to fast forward of their own free will. Great for advertisers who are paying for the privilege.
After the ad break the programme resumes without any sound & no adjustments bring it back. An utter waste of time & a poor reflection on ITV.

Was good to start with, but as usual the updates, make it worse, plays adverts great, but watching episodes of a program it keeps jumping, losing frames, I guess this is done deliberately for some reason, adverts don't loose frames though, hooray. Thank goodness for radio waves, the old tech is the best. Why change,, Apps like this show that digital streaming is struggling to compete. No good having 1gb internet if the app is rubbish in the first place.

The worst catch up I have ever used. Used all the other catch up apps with no problems and I have superfast broadband, the app takes forever to load and then episodes won’t play or crashes the app or the Tv. An absolute joke of an app.

Had to give it a star to write a review that stinks !
Don’t bother is my advice , this would be a good app if it ever worked or you could get through one episode of anything without a problem 😡. Then they say you can unsubscribe anytime 🤔 as they offer you the absolute abysmal buffering , stalling, freezing premium services for £2.85 a month instead- yeah of course I just want to give you money for absolutely nothing, they don’t apologise offer you a refund just say they are sorry to see you leave? Yes I would be sorry to see someone leave if they were giving me money every month for nothing! If you have to watch it just put up with the adverts , that way you get some chance of watching at least one episode of something all the way through! They had technical difficulties when I took out the subscription a year ago and nothing improved!

Last time I try using this service, how does every other channel do it? Think someone from itv needs to take a taxi over to the BBC and have a sneaky peek through the window.

We have a 55" LG OLED tv and trying to watch ITVX really tries our patience. Constant buffering, black screen, dropping off stream. Other streaming services work as they should. We have tried entering 0000777 and all manner of other suggestions but it's so bad that we try to avoid using it. How can a company get things so very wrong?

Absolute Rubbish

Absolute Rubbish. Sound cuts out, then screen goes black. Not easy to find where you left off. They need to take a look at BBC iplayer to see a service that runs properly. Will never watch again and as for Premium, don’t waste your money, forget it!

Used to be able to watch ITV X although once it got to the adverts it used to jump to the beggining of the next episode and ther was no way of getting back to where you had been as it was impossible to fast forward.

This week it is even worse. I choose my program, it shows me all the adverts then the screen goes blank, the TV switches off then back on again this is then a never ending cycle. I have given up . Perhaps they should go back to there old system

I do hope someone from itv reads this thread. The main issues, up load time - sports not on until the day after. 2. Pause, fast forward rewind function. It’s 2024….what is going on. No sport in HD either. I’d prefer it didn’t exist it’s so annoying.

Dreadful

Dreadful. Can't even fast forward properly. Okay, so I'm impatient and pay Sky to skip adverts. I get apps operate independently and don't all support fast forward skipping of adverts but I've never seen such slow yawn fest. I wanted to catch up on something advertised as being on Good morning Britain after 8am. You guys at ITV seriously expect me to keep my finger on the remote on slow forward. Not for me. Would give O star if possible. Of all channels I'd expected ITV to have a superior app. Fortunately for me there's very little I care about on ITV so it's easier to just ignore you until you get with the programme!

After trying to watch three different programmes on ITVX over the past couple of weeks I had to write a review
We had issues with either no sound , not loading after the adverts or not showing the right episode that is listed on itvx
Absolutely the worst catch-up channel ever !! It takes forever for it to load when you select anything we have super fast broadband and have no issues with any other networks / channels
Why they changed it from itv hub ? Had problems watching catch up on there too ! Emmerdale is always a problem ?
I do think that they don’t have a proper IT department that are sorting the issues out that seem to be happening on every show they are uploading on to ITVX
We will not be wasting anymore of my time trying to watch anything else on ITVX
