Leather Travel Bag, Handbag sold as Travel Bag

Leather Travel Bag, Dakota, $159.99 after sale. Advertised size, 19.69" x 9.06" x 10.24"=1.057 cu ft. Actual size received, 13.75" x 8.5" x 8"=0.541 cu ft. They call it a "minor deviation", offered a 10% voucher for next purchase. They are kidding me, right?
Is a handbag still a travel bag? Maybe they are an airliner.
Four different addresses on various forms to contact them with, two different addresses to return the bag at my cost. May, emphasize "May", refund after "inspection".

exaggerations

The thing about james-andrew.com website is their claims, to put it bluntly exaggerations. I can attest the quality of their belts, which seem to be made by a 10 Y/O very disapointing.

A reminder to take care and check

Normally careful this is one I slipped on. I console myself that I have had a reminder to be more careful. And I will be in favour with vegans by having some plastic belts instead of leather ones.
I hope I haven't upset the nice old gent and wish him well in his retirement.

Trustpilot is not trustable

Trustpilot is not trustable
All of the five star reviews are fake, A.I. generated, or for another company. This company advertises that it sells hand made leather bags from some old guy in America. The bags are made in China.

I informed Trustpilot about this contradiction and that the reviews are suspicious. they sent me an email telling me to flag the ones I think are bad. I flagged one and when I went to flag another Trustpilot's system said I cant flag another with the same reason, what?

It is clear that all of the five star reviews are fake.
1. All of the reviews begin in April. Early on, the five star reviews have a story. as time goes on they get shorter and shorter. Then they get stream lined into repetitive pattern saying the exact same thing with different words and a different name. Then they become unclear as to what the reviewer is talking about. Until finally, in the most recent, they're reviews about watches. clearly an A.I. mistake.

Clearly, Trust pilot cannot vet the identity of the reviews and there for Trustpilot is not trustable

Big scam beware

Big scam, the photos in the ads show the same bags for a photo of an US flea market dated from 1975 and then again from a market in Rome. The market in Rome in the second photo is called “Ledermakt” which is obviously not Italian, but a misspelled German word “Ledermarkt” (leather market). The whole side is ridiculous.

Scam or a pathetic excuse of a company

On 26/06/2025 I ordered leather travel bag. What I got delivered Was half size woman's hand bag. When I contacted support with picture evidence and requested swap item delivered with item I actually ordered, I got sorry but no though have a 10% store discount. More importantly correspondence email comes from China. That really funny since company is advertised as USA based business.

Don't fall for it. Cheap Chinese crap.

I saw a story about this company and other so-called family businesses that were closing down because of retirement. Photos of hardworking, trustworthy senior citizens who are just trying to sell the last of their hand-made goods.
All false. All AI Generated of fictional characters used to play upon our sympathies.
All they sell is cheap made in a Chinese sweat-shop crap.
Don't be fooled, if you want cheap Chinese crap, buy it at Walmart for cheap prices, knowing what you are getting.

5-star reviews are fake

All these 5-star reviews are so obvioiusly fake. They all use similar grammar and punctuation, and they were posted with weeks of each other. And, there are no 2, 3, or 4 star reviews. Only the one-star reviews can be trusted.
Their website was only registered a few months ago.
They do not list a phone number or physical address.
Their hours do not state if it is PST, MT, CST, or EST.
The guy in the photo is so obviously AI generated.
All the 5-star reviewers have only posted one review, this one.

Beware

Beware. Things don’t add up for me. I need a new messenger bag for work, so I started my search online and “James Andrew” kept popping up. I was tempted to pull the trigger on a leather messenger bag, but a closer look convinced me to give this a hard pass. (1) The seller professes to be a time-tested craftsman. (2) Ads claim he’s closing his “small shop” and selling at a discount.(3) Why and how does a singular craftsman keep so much ready-to-ship inventory? (4) Why are there so many recent negative reviews? (5) Why haven’t I heard of this guy until now? (6) Finally, why didn’t a dedicated craftsman who allegedly is wrapping up his career only register his web domain on March 28, 2025?

Just received order

Just received order. Boston so- called handmade leather back pack a piece of 3rd rate junk. Material questionable. Straps so flimsy won't support a laptop or full bag. Useless. Cheap looking. NOT claimed handmade.
Wallet similarly lower quality junk.

Does not desereve any stars. Absolute scam, knock off. Not anything as sdveftised. Supposed to be leather, but is pvc. I will get with postal inspectors az this constigutes mail fraud, false advertising, etc.
I do not know the people giving five stars, but I truly question if the 5 star reviews are real. Probably like the fake product, fake reviews.

This is an absolute scam

This is an absolute scam. I ordered a bag and it was cheaply made and crafted with fake leather. The company is out of China and not American like advertised (Or made the appearance of American made). When I tried to return the item, they sent an email with instructions that appeared suspicious (e.g. mis-spelled word; Telefonnummer) and a couple of web links to forms that needed to be filled out. With the content of the email being suspicious and appearing to be everything IT folks warn toward Phishing attempts, I didn't go any further. Needless to say, it appears they scammed me out of my money, don't let them steal your money.

Misleading Product and Poor Quality – Disappointing Experience

I ordered a backpack advertised as "High Quality Leather", but the item I received was entirely different from what was shown on the website. The material was clearly cheap faux leather, with a finish that looked and felt more like a painted plastic bag. The straps were made of thin faux leather and poorly attached; the product appeared extremely low quality and not at all as described.

While I was eventually issued a refund, I was still required to cover the return postage, which came to nearly £27—an unacceptable cost given the misleading listing.

This experience was deeply disappointing, and I would strongly caution others against ordering from this retailer. One star only because zero wasn’t an option.

I give them one because is the only way…

I give them one because is the only way to write a review here. They don't even deserve one star. I order a bag, I received 2 weeks later a bag that looks nothing like the one I ordered, it is not even in their catalogue. The quality is disgusting, not leather but faux leather (at best) if not straight plastic. I wanted to return the item because of their mistake and they want me to pay for the freight back???? This is totally a scam. Please don't buy from them if you don't want to be disappointed.
I hope this helps you.
