We couldn't have asked for a better wedding photographer than James Merrick. From the very beginning, he was incredibly organised, professional and helpful, making the whole process feel easy and stress-free. In the lead-up to the wedding, he was always on hand to answer questions, offer advice and make sure everything was planned perfectly.

On the day itself, James was fantastic. He kept everything running smoothly, helped us feel relaxed in front of the camera and blended in seamlessly while capturing all the important moments. His calm and friendly approach made a real difference and meant we could simply enjoy our day.

To top it all off, we were amazed at how quickly he delivered our photos. Receiving them so soon after the wedding was such a lovely surprise, and we were absolutely thrilled with the results. We would highly recommend James to anyone looking for a talented, reliable and genuinely helpful wedding photographer.

We booked James for our wedding on 9th April 2026. James was professional and friendly from the very first email. We had a pre call with James around one week prior to the wedding and everything ran so smoothly. He had the perfect balance of being present and engaged but also made sure we got to enjoy all of our day! Everyone has commented on how lovely he was and how amazing the photos are! James got our preview over so quickly and we just love all of the photos! I honestly feel James went the extra mile! Thank you so much James & we would recommend you to everyone!

We fell in love with James’s portfolio straight away, so booking him for our wedding felt like an easy decision. After seeing the beautiful, natural shots he captured at other weddings leading up to our big day, we knew we’d made exactly the right choice.

Our photos are absolutely amazing. James clearly knows all the best shots and angles, and he captured everything so effortlessly. We’ve had so many compliments from friends and family, some guests didn’t even realise they were being photographed, as he was so stealthy and blended in perfectly with everyone. This led to the loveliest, most natural photos, and everyone has commented on how much they love how unposed and genuine the pictures feel.

We were also astounded by how quickly we received our preview photos. We expected just a small handful, but instead received so many beautiful images, which made us even more excited to see the full gallery. When it arrived, it certainly didn’t disappoint.

We honestly can’t thank James enough for the incredible photos. He perfectly captured one of the best days of our lives, and now we have these beautiful memories to look back on forever. We would highly recommend James.

We were so pleased we booked James as our photographer for our wedding in October 2025 and could not recommend him more! James put us at ease from the first point of contact and was nothing but kind and professional throughout our interactions. As a couple who originally felt nervous about being in front of the camera, James was calm and reassuring and managed to make us feel relaxed on the day. We decided to have a pre wedding photo shoot which gave us the chance to meet James beforehand and get used to being in front of the camera which was really beneficial.

On the day James was an organised and calming presence. His familiarity with our venue Hanbury Barns meant that he was a great person to have around and helped the day run smoothly. James captured our day beautifully and managed to get some amazing natural shots despite us feeling like we were battling the elements. He provided a big selection of photo highlights for us by the next evening which was just amazing to receive so quickly! When we received our final album we were so pleased to look back on our magical day through so many amazing photos. He managed to capture all of our special moments and the emotion of the day perfectly. The photos were everything we hoped for and more!

There aren't enough words to say how happy I was when James said he was free to photograph our wedding - he worked with me for 17 years and it just had to be him to photograph our big day.

He has always been a talented creative designer and now a fabulously talented photographer with his natural style and depth of field images. He has truly found his calling - No wonder he wins so many awards!

He worked really well with our wedding planner and Director of Ceremonies - he just organised people in the right way and his style is so natural.

Prior to the wedding we simply ran out of time to give him a list of people we wanted photographs with but I needn't have worried as he just got on and did it and magically photographed everyone we would have listed anyway!

His communications were proactive, timely, and friendly - it just made the whole process so easy in what can be a stressful time. We never had to chase for anything; it all just happened so magically. James is an absolute pleasure to work with and if I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Before we booked our venue or picked a date I knew we wanted James to be our photographer after seeing his work at a potential wedding venue on their Instagram. From the initial enquiry to the day of (and beyond) James was so friendly and professional. He answered all my questions and queries happily and tried to go above and beyond. In the lead up to the wedding we discussed photos that we really wanted, photos we weren’t so bothered about and the vibe for the day.

On the day James fit in lovely whilst we were getting ready, taking photos of all the details and just getting on with it all! He then headed to the venue and got some drone shots and photos of my husband and his groomsmen getting ‘ready’.

All day everything was great and he was very easy to work with as two people who aren’t really good at having their photos taken.

After the wedding we got our ‘sneak peeks’ the DAY AFTER! I couldn’t believe it, and this wasn’t 5 photo there were absolutely loads.

We had our full gallery in the time frame and we love our wedding photos!

James was such a calming person to have on our wedding day! He was professional and extremely well organised (on the day and in the lead up to the day). All of our family and friends commented on how wonderful and at ease he made them feel aswell as how amazing the photos came out. We cried looking back at them. We couldn't recommend him any more highly - one of the greatest choices we made for our day!

Going into the wedding planning process, I knew absolutely nothing. But James was the first decision we’d made, before we’d even decided!! Once I saw the magic James captures in every photo, I couldn’t have chosen anyone else!
James was a pleasure to have around on the day, we were a bag of nerves (and aren’t particularly fans of having our photo taken) but James put us at ease and made us so comfortable. James is incredible, it’s as simple as that. I’ve been sat thinking of endless ways to describe what an incredible photographer and person he is but I cannot put it into words.

From the day we booked him (one of our first suppliers!) right up until we recieved our full album. He brings joy and energy to your day but somehow knows how to blend into the wedding that you don’t even realise he’s capturing the most perfect candid photos you’ll see! Like most of us, we’ve never been married before so don’t know how you’re meant to pose, what you’re meant to do but somehow James on the day will make you feel a natural!

Our photos are captured so perfectly, we feel like we get to relive our day over and over again! Let’s not even start about the fact we got literally 200 photos as a preview!? I mean it when I say he’s incredible and he’ll literally capture anything and everything that you ask!

We are so delighted that we picked James to be our wedding photographer! As soon as we saw his vibrant, fun and perfectly captured photos from other weddings, we knew he was the photographer for us.

James made the whole lead up process so easy and it was great to have a chat with him a few weeks before to hear his full plan for our wedding day.

On the day itself James was perfect! As I'm usually the unofficial photographer at family events it was so reassuring to know that James was there thinking of all the perfect shots and capturing those special moments. He was great to have around and he blended right in to all the activities!

James exceeded all our expectations and more — he is absolutely fantastic. He made everything feel so relaxed, and within minutes, it felt as though we had known him for years. He captured everything we requested and even leant out of a bedroom window to take a group shot that we wanted!
