I am on my second round with Aimee in one year and I can tell you, her teaching style and the amount of content she puts together for the program is incredible! So much great, deep knowledge is shared. I did years of app based self study previously, and have learned/achieved more in 2 sessions with Aimee than in all the years combined! Life-time access to the content also means I can keep reviewing and studying to further improve! It’s a really well-laid out program and the teaching is just incredible!
After struggling through apps for six months I gave Japanese in 12 a go … primarily because Aimee was not a native speaker of Japanese who had studied her way to N1 fluency - I believe it always pays to learn from someone who has achieved the outcome you’re after.
This course is legitimately brilliant - I have now completed two levels and going back for a third! The structure in Aimee’s lessons is excellent and this, coupled with her ability to break complex grammatical concepts down into simple, bite-sized lessons that are easy to absorb makes this whole course work in a spectacular way. The 1:1 support and feedback from Aimee is second-to-none, and the live conversation sessions are full of encouragement, patience and fun.
I can’t recommend Aimee and J12 highly enough, it’s been such an amazing learning experience - I really wish I’d done it earlier in my journey.

I did the Intermediate challenge and I’m so happy I signed up! I’ve learned more in the last 12 weeks than in 2 years of in-person classes. The way the course was broken down into short lessons and introduced new grammar point slowly, with plenty of exercise sheets was very helpful. Aimee is super friendly and always takes time to give feedback. Would recommend to anyone who wants to learn Japanese, I’ll be signing up to the next level.

I started the course back in April 2024, but stopped partway due to family circumstances. Re-joined to do the 2025 Challenge Round in February and it has absolutely been the best thing I have done to help my Japanese skills grow. Currently doing Week 9. Every week has been a lot of fun, Aimee explains things in an easy way and the lessons are short and concise which is very appreciated. There's lots of practice involved in the challenge that is a combination of speaking, reading and writing. I have been learning Japanese on and off for 20 years and this course has definitely been the best one thus far. I think it's a combination of Aimee's demeanor and how approachable she is and the community of learners themselves. I'm looking forward to going forward onto the next level and do a challenge round when it comes again in 2026!

If you are the type of person who reads reviews to help decide if something will be worth your time and money, let my review be the voice you need to commit to J12. Do it. The way that Aimee has structured the beginner's course is done in such a way that offers support in every way imaginable. Speaking and listening practice? There are community zoom calls. Reading and writing? The modules every week offer new and interesting information + ways to practice. Questions? There's wonderful and kind community group to engage with.
J12 was the best investment I ever made and I'll never regret it. Can't wait to take the next level!
