Convenient flexible and a must to have when traveling within Tokyo and beyond.

It was really great having the JR pass to get around Tokyo, and between cities. Just flash it and walk right through the gates! Go green class for extra comfort :)

we headed from Tokyo to the west for a week and then back and it was perfect for us, we saved a lot over just buying separate tickets.

The trains were wonderful as were the staff. Staff assistance was first class. They were only too happy to help. Very comfortable carriages and amenities. I especially found the notifications in Japanese and English very helpful.A lovely way to see Japan.

It was relatively easy experience its expensive but the best way of getting around Japan. The Bullet trains are well maintained and very comfortable. Enjoyed our holiday immensely.

This was a great purchase for our two week holiday.
Our first week was in Osaka, A lovely city but the rail pass was very limited here, this is why we given 4 stars.

Our second week was in Tokyo and the pass really helped here, we only need additional tickets twice that week.

We used the bullet train between Osaka-Tokyo-Osaka and this was also covered in the pass.

Very happy and got some JR merchandise to.

The processes need full review to make them far more efficient from the passenger viewpoint. Some examples:-
It is annoying for overseas travellers to be expected to line up for lengthy periods to validate their vouchers.
The process for reserving seats is similarly cumbersome and time-consuming - particularly as Japan Rail Offices do not exist in some high volume locations such as the Station at Disneyland.

I would prefer if you could select a pass based on the number of days stay. I had 15 days in Japan but could only get a pass for 14 days or 21 days. Otherwise the pass is great value.

Amazing value, easy to use.

Great use for the 7 day pass. My only criticism would be the pass should come with map of exactly which lines cover JR lines. Too confusing going from all different rail companies. Not the fault of JR of course. However knowing exactly which locations and which names of JR lines would be helpful as at the station it is not always obvious which you can use. Not to mention leaving a gate with JR pass just so you can IC card back into a rival train line or metro. Which on occasion forgot to do, and so delayed my travel onwards. A small delay, but still irritating and extremely confusing. I'd suggest a booklet along with JR pass. With map of Japan. With zoomed in areas of locations and lines that can be used.
