Lovely Bistro Set, but a Disappointing Customer Experience
I recently purchased a lovely Monterey bistro set from JB Furniture, the bistro set looks great, and it is of good quality, given a few days of decent weather since it was delivered we have managed to use the set and found that the chairs were comfortable.
Firstly, while the patio set was delivered on time as promised, I was disheartened that the cardboard packaging was not removed upon delivery. This was mentioned to us at the time of order, but, for a set consisting of two chairs and a table, there was an excessive amount of packaging that was difficult to transport in a car for disposal at the tip.
Secondly, when the final balance payment was due before delivery, I received an email from an address at wordplay.com claiming to represent JB Furniture, instructing me to click a link within the email to make the payment. Given the inherent insecurity of email, I found this method highly inadvisable. When I raised my concerns with JB Furniture, I was surprised that they considered this a secure way to collect payments. They did not seem to recognise the risks of scammers intercepting emails and altering details (links) to redirect payments, or using spoofing to make the email address appear credible. I am concerned about the responsibility JB Furniture would assume if this payment method was used and the email had been intercepted, diverting the payment to scammers.
Due to these concerns, I attempted to pay over the phone. Despite the delivery being scheduled to my home, they informed me that they could not accept a telephone card payment due to security concerns and their inability to verify the address. As a result, I had to visit the store in person to make the payment.
Because of this experience, I feel I can only give a three-star review on this occasion, which is unfortunate.
