Its really nice but i just think that the women’s section should have more equipment as there are only 2 stairmasters and one leg press machine etc whereas the communal section has a lot more

To be honest I like the set up it's close to where I live and it's great to work out here.

A great place to enjoy exercising, distinguished by its organization, abundance of equipment, and the cooperation of the management team, who are very friendly and kind.

Over crowded. Too many members in at the same time. Dont know what
The capacity is. But as a new joiner my first session was a bad experience. I went a second time earlier to miss peak time and again too busy. Too many machines. Not my kind of gym.

Excellent value for money and great service easy to cancel or freeze memberships

Really impressed with JD Gyms overall. The gyms are modern, well-equipped and great value for money. I especially like the variety of machines and classes available, plus the 24/7 access is really convenient. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere feels motivating without being intimidating.
The company also seems to do a great job at keeping memberships affordable while still offering high-quality facilities. The app is easy to use and access to the gym is straightforward.
Overall I’ve had a really positive experience and would definitely recommend JD Gyms although cool air-conditioning would be lovely.

Good equipment at the gym but for a fairly new and recently refurbished gym the showers are lacking barely any power and the shower heads give poor spray - poorest gym showers I have come across

Machines are categorised, would be a lot better if leg machines had a section and arm machines ect.

The gym itself is well equipped, which is what you expect from a commercial gym. Overcrowding isn’t my issue. My issue is with one of the PTs who operates there.
I started training with PT a couple of years ago. Initially things were great, but repeated cancellations, rescheduled sessions and poor communication meant I wasn’t making progress. I tried to be understanding as I know life happens, but it eventually became a running joke among friends and family about whether my sessions would actually happen.
At one point I looked into another PT within the same gym just to ask questions before deciding whether to switch. My PT found out and treated it as a major issue that I hadn’t approached her first, sending voice notes saying she was “confused” about how to proceed. I found this unnecessary. I had simply paid for sessions at agreed times, and those sessions should still have been delivered regardless.
The situation put me off entirely, so I left the gym and moved to another PT elsewhere, completing around 70 sessions with them. However, I still had about 12 outstanding sessions with her.
Communication with her has consistently been poor. Messages often went unanswered for a week or more, despite her being active in a shared client chat. When I once tagged her politely asking for a response, she immediately deleted my comment and messaged me privately telling me the chat wasn’t for that and that i knew she was elsewhere for the day so couldnt respond...yet she left me unread for a week. I have seen other clients tag her similarly without issue.
More recently we attempted to arrange the remaining sessions. I messaged to confirm the schedule as there had been confusion about whether sessions were weekly or bi-weekly. I received no reply, so I didn’t attend. On the morning of the session she messaged moving the time earlier, which I didn’t see. I had also previously explained earlier times were inconvenient.
Later I asked again for clear confirmation moving forward and was ignored for another week. When I followed up saying I would see her Saturday at the agreed time, she suddenly replied instantly blaming me for not attending, insisting I “knew” I had to be there and responding sarcastically with “clearly not” when I explained I had asked for clarification. I have never previously missed an agreed session.
At that point, after months of poor communication and frustration, I decided it wasn’t worth continuing. I had 12 sessions outstanding since prior to August and we were already in the new year without them being completed. I felt like I had been given the runaround and would rather lose the money than continue chasing sessions.
Another issue was that sessions would sometimes involve going to a room to talk about things that could easily have been handled by message, leaving only 15–20 minutes for actual training.
Overall the experience left me extremely frustrated. I don’t expect to have to chase a PT just to organise sessions I’ve already paid for or be spoken to sarcastically when asking for clarification. I can’t say all JD PTs are like this, but this was my experience was awful for far too long.
Overall I dont expect repeated cancellations, rescheduales, blame games, being ignored, poor communication to the point I have to chase you it has put me off commercial PTs indefinitely. I have lost money, time, patience and faith in her and commercial PTs.
I have removed the person's name as per JDs request. However, I firmly believe if a specific person has done a poor job others should be aware and do with this information as they please. I have never been so dissapointed in a "professional" before. I hope you use this feedback to improve how you maintain your relationships with clients moving forward.
The Gym is great. But has two downsides. First I would like to see in the App how busy it was a in the gym, I’ve seen this from other gyms and think it’s a great way to plan your workouts. Secondly the music they play is far too loud and more importantly rubbish! It’s very of putting when you can hear the music though your own earphones.

Unfortunately this is one of the worst gyms I’ve been to. It’s consistently overcrowded, even at off peak times, especially before 9am and after 5pm, to the point where it’s hard to actually work out. In the main gym area, the equipment is often monopolised by men for long periods, making it very unwelcoming.
The ladies section is no better — the equipment is old, worn, and clearly not maintained to the same standard. The gym should not be taking on new members when it’s already this busy. I really regret paying for the year upfront, as I feel stuck in a poor-quality gym experience.
I hope this reviews stops people making the same mistake I have.

The gym is great and has a lot of machines but lacks core machines. No where to stretch.

My home gym at JD Gyms in Blackburn is excellent. It’s consistently clean and well-maintained. The staff are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and create a very positive atmosphere. The facility itself is great—there’s a fantastic variety of machines (hammers, cables, Smith machines, etc.), the lighting is motivating, and there’s a good amount of mirror space. The music is also on point.
I’ve tried several other branches, and this leads to my two main issues:
1. Inconsistent Equipment: The setup, look, and even the type of machines vary dramatically from branch to branch. This makes it very difficult to maintain your workout routine and track progress if you travel between locations. For example, the cable machine weight you use for bicep curls in Blackburn might feel completely different in Manchester or Burnley, disrupting your strength training flow.
2. Access Problems with Multi-Branch Entry: Despite having a "Plus" membership that allows access to all branches, I frequently have trouble entering gyms that are not my "home" location. The system often doesn’t recognize my pass, forcing me to call for staff assistance to manually verify my subscription. This is especially troublesome for 24-hour branches where staff may not be present, creating anxiety about whether I’ll actually be able to get in at odd hours.
