A great gym with friendly and helpful advice. I also highly recommend Ryan Parr who has helped me so much to progress through his strength training programme. He is patient, non-judgemental and motivational and has helped me- as a middle aged woman, to feel better, stronger and more comfortable in my skin.

I've only just joined the bury one and it said nothing about refurbishment on the website. So half the gym is closed off, and everything is sqaushed together with no room to breathe. It's just waiting for an accident.
Would have been nice to get a heads up before paying the bill.
I also didn't see one staff member to ask for a quick tour.
I was walking around like a lost child trying to find a dip station, and I didn't see any dumbbells either. It looked nothing like the photos.
I don't think I'll be staying here past the month
I went for 1 day and haven't been back since so i tried to get a refund because it was within 24hrs. I've now given up on the refund they just bombard you with excuses and instructions.
Awful company

Back after a couple of months with same review. Still feeling the same and I love it!
Have a very busy work and child care programme as a single mom, that I only attend gym about three times a week but I still feel my money's worth everytime I attend the body attack, combat and especially PUMP classes with Jayne. My goodness, love her energy and drive. My fitness levels have increased amazingly, kudos to Jayne Deakin 😊. I wish she had more body pump classes 😩
To be fair, generally love JD gyms, clean with warm atmosphere. And yes, my other fav is the sauna, always super hot to get my muscles treated!

I attend the attack and pump classes 3 times per week, they are brilliant and the instructors Jayne and Craig really do push you get get the best out of your workout, early evening classes are perfect 😁

Les Mills body attack is a must. I’ve been a member since opening and Jayne is hands down the best PT I’ve been around for over 20 years. Bags of experience. Enthusiasm and drive that’s off the scale and a great mix of sessions to keep you engaged. Craig’s sessions are also brilliant. No matter the level of fitness there’s options so you shouldn’t be put off thinking it’s too tough!

Great gym with lots of equipment.
It's a shame the studio is completely closed when classes are on, it's such a great space to warm up and stretch out.
My only real complaint is the handles for the cable machines. A lot of them are completely ruined, specifically the pulldown bars. The plastic parts of the handles are broken to the point where they're uncomfortable to use. A little more variety would be nice, like EZ bars.
One suggestion that would really elevate the gym for me would be a bodytrax or other body composition machine. A lot of gyms have them, it's a shame that JD doesn't.
Overall good, but not perfect.

So, I've just cancelled my membership, after much contemplation.
I'll start with the positives.....Jayne Deakin is an absolute asset to the gym. She is the most motivational and inspiring trainer I have ever had. I also used to enjoy JDBurn, however, I have turned up to classes and there has been no instructor on several occasions. For the last two to three months, the gym floor has been hugely overcrowded, with several young lads congregating around pieces of equipment. You cannot get on any machines. It's not a social gathering lads! I'm also sick and tired of girls filming themselves on cameras resting on Tripods, how on earth is this allowed?!!! Where is the privacy and space for other gymgoers? It's not a fashion shoot girls, it's a gym for a proper workout, not for uploading content onto social media. I refused to move out of someone's shot and told her not to film near me! Inconsiderate lazy people not putting equipment back. People also hogging machines by sitting on machines on their phones! Where on earth are all the staff to maintain rules? I'm absolutely gutted to have left because I loved Jayne's classes but I cannot cope with the mass congregation on the gym floor.

Been accessing JD gym for the past 12 months staff are always on hand to help. The new manager in post is very enthusiastic and motivated me to try new classes.
I love that you can just turn up to classes no booking required which fits in with my busy lifestyle

Firstly the staff are very helpful. There are unlimited opportunities to take part in various exercises. I always enjoy my training here. Every time i have needed help Ryan has always been on hand to help me. Angie joined me up, never looked back and today i met Kate the new manager who was very helpful.

Don't really use the weight machines much as usually stick to the classes, but highly recommend Body Combat (with Jayne) and Body Attack (with Craig) ...... very enjoyable workouts!

Good gym, very very bad air con systems. Tired of feeling like I’m going to pass out everytime I walk in cause it’s so hot and constantly feels like the air con is broke.

A massive issue with the sauna. JD claim the sauna should be on and ready to use between 6am -10pm, in reality the staff switch the sauna on around 6am, which means it's not up to temperature until at least 6:30am-7:00am, way too late for most people that arrive at the gym early in the morning. After speaking to a very unhelpful member of staff about why the sauna is never ready at 6am, the only response I got was that 'it's company policy to have the sauna ready for 6am', after several attempts at trying to explain to her that the sauna is never ready at 6am, I simply gave up. The resolution for me is very simple, have the sauna switched on at 5am, the same time the changing room doors are unlocked, by 6am the sauna will have reached the optimum temperature of 70-80 degrees Celsius.

Decent gym and equipment the over night staff member on Mondays is always helpful and take time out of his cleaning when I couldn't find my car keys, however I disagree with jd gyms new policy of staff not being able to let you back in afther 10pm, I've also noticed that on Mondays the staff that go home at around 10 don't leave the gym in the same standard as it is on other nights which I assume makes it harder on your overnight staff to do there job properly.

I would like to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unacceptable delay and subsequent charges related to my membership cancellation.
On the 17th of April, I filled out and submitted the membership cancellation form as required. A couple of weeks later, I received an email requesting further details, which I had already provided on the initial cancellation form. Unfortunately, due to limited storage on my device, I did not receive this follow-up email promptly. Nevertheless, this request for additional information seemed unnecessary, as all pertinent details were already submitted with my initial form.
It is my belief that these actions are deliberate tactics employed to prolong the cancellation process, thereby unjustly extracting additional membership fees. As a result of this delay, I have now been charged for an extra two months of membership fees, despite not having used the gym during this period.
This situation is unacceptable and has caused me undue frustration and financial inconvenience. I insist on the following actions being taken immediately:
• A full refund for the additional two months of membership fees charged after my initial cancellation request on April 17th.
• Confirmation of the immediate termination of my membership, with no further charges applied.
If these issues are not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter further, including but not limited to seeking advice from consumer rights organizations and sharing my experience on public platforms.
I look forward to your prompt and satisfactory resolution of this matter.

I joined and had a bit of a stressful moment but JD were brilliant they sorted it so I didn't lose out and were very helpful both in the gym and on customer services. Looking forward to attending more classes!

No air con again. Impossible to push self fully with no air con. Please sort it out. Had to leave after combat. Usually do double class. Mirrors all steamed up in studio. Unhealthily hot. No
good for women of a certain age 😕 spoke to Rob who was lovely and helpful as usual. Air con appears to be
managed by an outside contractor. Please escalate this to them as its really not acceptable. 2 stars for them. 5 for Rob 👍

Staff were enthusiastic and keen to resolve my problem, which was a transfer to the Bury gym and issues with access through the gates.
