Decaying gym, negligent staff
For the raised price, absolutely nothing about this gym has been improved. Nothing of what I mentioned in my last review has been addressed. Machines like the leg presses, the leg extensions, chest presses and the chest-supported row severely lack in range of motion and desperately need replacing. Other machines like the low row and the Matrix calf raise need maintaining.

worst gym in Dundee
no cleaning equipment, only one plated leg press and one hipthirst machine for a gym with over 2000 members seems ridiculous.
There is no ability to use any equipment after 5pm without having to fight your way through crowds of teenagers, sometimes groups as large as 5 are sharing one machine who then leave their equipment lying around. The no bag policy also doesn't make any sense, any serious lifter will no doubt have straps/lifting belt/ cuffs along with a water bottle and maybe a log book, expecting people to carry this around without a bag is the height of stupidity and is more of a hazard than a bag if it is all left lying on the floor.

The best atmosphere
I usually train elsewhere, but decided I wanted a bit of a change of scenery. The atmosphere at JD is amazing. All the members are really friendly and helpful, and there’s a huge variety of equipment and space to use!

Great staff and clean environment
The staffs are great , people clean up by themselves after using equipment, which I find great, and the classes are great. Thanks to Dave the training coach.I find your class intense but fun.

Equipment is great .
Only thing is that there aren't enough cleaning stations. It would be good to have cleaning stations at each major equipment area (treadmills, weights, etc.)

The cleaning stations in our gyms have been removed. These were first introduced during the pandemic when Government restrictions required us to do so. Since all restrictions were lifted some time ago, we have been gradually returning to our normal operations, with the cleaning stations being one of the last remaining measures. We have however, provided extra bottles of sanitiser around the gym and we do encourage our members to bring in their own towel to clean off the equipment after use. Alongside this, we also have cleaners in the gym who frequently clean the equipment and work to ensure a high standard is maintained. If you do notice any equipment needs a wipe down, please let a member of staff know.

Staff are helpful and nothing is too much effort. Gym is clean and tidy and again, staff are visible and very approachable. Good facilities

A big dirty warehouse
Staff is nowhere to be seen, machines are not taken care of (the static bikes are just not working or really old) and you have to bring your own locks for the lockers (c'mon guys, that's so tacky). The only reason why I'm not giving it 1 star is that there's enough weights and machinery for everyone but compared to gyms like the Kelvinhall in Glasgow, this is just poor and dirty.

First day and removed for being ‘erratic’ and ‘strange
First day in me and my friend were removed for one day for being ‘erratic’ and ‘strange’ I’ve been going to the gym for years and I was at JD gyms in summer of 2022 and had no issue. It was the manager that said we had to leave for the one day. She’s really rude.

Helpful staff, lots of equipment
This is a really great gym with a wide range of equipment and facilities. Staff were really helpful in showing me round and helping me sign up.
One thing I would improve is more cleaning supplies for the machines as there weren't any in the ladies area and only one table with a spray bottle in the main area.
