They also encountered issues with staff, who were often described as rude and unprofessional. Customers frequently report problems with pricing, including hidden costs and unexpected fees for things like luggage and seat selection. The booking process was also a major source of frustration, with many struggling to book online or facing price discrepancies. Traveling Families, BEWARE!

If you’re flying with an infant, be prepared for a frustrating and expensive experience.

• The baggage weight limit is unreasonable. We were informed that infants are not entitled to a carry-on allowance, meaning our clothing, along with baby essentials (diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, etc.), all had to fit within the standard weight restriction. As a result, we were forced to pay an additional $170 AUD (120 USD) for roughly 20kg — primarily due to necessary baby items.

• Despite traveling with an infant, we were called to board last. There was no priority boarding or consideration for families.

• The only complimentary item offered onboard was water. We had to ration basic snacks for our baby, which is unacceptable on a flight of this nature.

• There are no seatback entertainment screens, and most of the digital entertainment library requires additional payment, including children’s content. This is bizarre being that you'd being watching on your own device.

Between the excessive fees and the complete lack of family-friendly accommodation, the overall experience felt unnecessarily restrictive and profit-driven. For a similar price, you are far better off choosing an airline that offers greater value and basic consideration for families traveling with infants.

This was, without question, the most aggressively fee-driven airline experience I have had.

This airline is truly shameful

I travel within Australia every two weeks. There are always delays, but today was a disaster. My flight was at 12:30 pm. I received a message asking me to arrive early in case of any problems, so I arrived at 10:00 am. Thirty minutes before boarding, they announced that the flight was delayed from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm! Yes, without any explanation or consideration. Now they've just announced that the flight is delayed again. I've been at the airport for over six hours without any explanation or compensation. This airline is truly shameful.

This was my first and definitely my…

This was my first and definitely my last experience with Jetstar Airlines. I am extremely disappointed with their service and overall system. If the airline is one hour late, it seems to be acceptable for them. However, if a customer is just two minutes late, they are not allowed to board the flight. This double standard is very frustrating and unfair.

Because of multiple delays on the same day, I missed an important meeting. My entire day was wasted due to poor time management and lack of proper service. The flight was delayed twice, which caused serious inconvenience for me.

This experience was highly disappointing and unacceptable. I would not recommend this airline based on my experience.

I am writing this review because what…

I am writing this review because what happened to me at Melbourne Airport on 06 Feb 2026 was not just bad service, it was abusive, negligent, and humiliating.

My flight (Jetstar JQ7, MEL → Singapore, sold as IndiGo 6E 3977) was delayed repeatedly, for a total delay of over SIX HOURS. During this time, there was no proper communication, gates were changed suddenly, and staff openly admitted they “couldn’t confirm” whether the flight would even depart.

When I calmly asked for clarity after waiting for hours, I was spoken to rudely and arrogantly. A staff member told me, “I’ve told you three times. I won’t tell you again.” This is not how paying passengers should ever be treated.

After all this chaos, boarding finally commenced. I went to the gate with:
• a valid boarding pass
• security and immigration cleared
• full compliance with all instructions

And then unbelievably I was DENIED BOARDING AND OFF-LOADED AT THE GATE around 6:15 PM, with no explanation, no proof of misconduct, and no written reason.

I was crying, having a panic attack, and begging to be allowed to board. I even offered to apologise to anyone just so I could fly despite having done NOTHING wrong. Jetstar staff did not care. I was refused boarding, refused rebooking, and even refused a refund, then wrongly marked as a “NO-SHOW.”

Let that sink in:
Present at the gate. Boarding pass in hand. Cleared checks. Still marked no-show.

I was left stranded at the airport and had to call someone to pick me up. I am an international student on a tight budget, travelling to see my family after an extremely difficult personal situation and Jetstar treated me like I was disposable.

Delays happen. What happened here was deliberate indifference:
• hostile staff behaviour
• zero accountability
• unlawful denied boarding
• abandonment of a passenger

Jetstar showed no empathy, no professionalism, and no respect. This was one of the most distressing travel experiences of my life.

If you have an important trip, a connection, or even basic expectations of dignity, do not fly Jetstar.

Worst airline ever

Doesn’t matter how cheap they are, do not risk your money. I don’t even know how they are allowed to still be in business. They cancelled our connecting flight last minute around 8pm and couldn’t get us a flight till the next day around 3:30pm. Naturally we missed out on our hotel booking because you can’t cancel 2-3 hours before check in, and our spot at potato head at 4:30pm the following day (also states on their site no refunds). We asked for general compensation, didn’t get that. The woman was completely useless despite us sending the necessary receipts for just our expenses, so we escalated to the manager who now wants proof (then sending a letter to confirm we didn’t get a refund) they can find themselves that we didn’t already get a refund despite them being able to check the hotel’s and beach club’s policies themselves.

A bunch of incompetent buffoons trying to everything they can to penny pinch and not pay the compensation they are legally obliged to pay. I’d love to sue if I knew what I was doing.

As bad as it gets.

Overall terrible experience. I’m not sure why United partners with this airline but they should definitely reconsider their arrangement. We did a 30 minute line only to be told we needed to wait 30 minutes to get on another line to be able to drop off our bags because they don’t allow check in till 2 hours before the flight. Catch is, their lines are so slow that 2 hours ahead of time is almost not enough to make it to the flight. Service personnel are terrible at communicating instructions and extremely slow. They always seemed to be confused and overwhelmed. Also, the carry on policy is just sad: only 7 kilos! Good luck carry on travelers. They encourage you to stuff your pockets to make it work. Save yourself the stress and disappointment; avoid this airline if you can.

Do not use this airline

Do not use this airline. They are totally unreliable. They cancelled our flight en route to the airport and put us on a Qantas flight 6 hours later. No food voucher. No help other than an explanation as to why 33 passengers were moved to a later flight (a change in plane size). Offered flight vouchers but as we live in Ireland they are of little use. Compensation denied. Use someone else.

Flex plus means … nothing

Flex plus means … nothing. Had to change a flight time because of a late flight and missed connection. They charged more than the original return flight cost just to change the one direction. Went from $850 ish to $2200!

The planes are located at the very end of the airports and on and off by stairs. Loooong walk both ways!

Put my sweater down while loading a bag in the overhead. Remembered it just before takeoff. They had “off-loaded it. Took my name and promised they’d have it when I returned. Total brush off at the bagged assistance and said it would probably be in the Sydney Airport lost and found. No effort at all apparently at either end.

Would never recommend it! Pay the difference!

Outstanding experience with Jetstar…

Outstanding experience with Jetstar this week flying Perth to Melbourne on Jan 17 and return Jan 25. Both flights were excellent, on-time, smooth, fantastic crew and very comfortable in the extra leg room seats on the Airbus A321neo. Cabin crew on my flight back to Perth were outstanding. Friendly, professional, helpful and engaging. Particular shot out to Logan and Emma who, from the minute I stepped on the plane, never stopped smiling, laughing and providing excellent customer service. Awesome to see two young people who obviously loved their job and provide such a great and genuine experience to all passengers. They are a huge asset to Jetstar and the profession overall.

Likely the worst airline customer service and experience I have every had. The only saving grace is they make booking a flight seemless. If there are any issues with the flight after booking though, you are totally screwed... absolutely zero accountability and useless customer support.

Flying jetstar is taking a chance

Okay the plane got us to our destination, so they get two stars for doing that. Unfortunately they lost our luggage, and it was such a hassle to chase around to get this sorted. They don't care enough about this aspect to either not let it happen, or to try to fix it as quickly as possible. Moral of the story - you get what you pay for.

Terrible experience with Jetstar

✈️ Terrible experience with Jetstar – avoid at all costs

I had a Jetstar flight from New Zealand to Thailand with a short layover in Sydney. My flight was cancelled the day before departure due to a storm, but Jetstar offered no compensation and no alternative flight.

To make matters worse, my New Zealand visa was expiring the following day. With no assistance from Jetstar, I was left in an extremely stressful situation and had no choice but to purchase a very expensive last-minute flight to Thailand on my own.

To this day, I have received no refund. The only “solution” Jetstar offered was a voucher, which is completely unacceptable:
• I live in France, where Jetstar does not operate
• I do not want to fly with Jetstar again after this experience
• The voucher is therefore unusable and meaningless

I have never encountered such poor customer service. I spent hours trying to contact them, writing messages, logging into their system repeatedly, without ever speaking to a real person or getting a proper resolution.

This experience caused significant financial loss and stress, and Jetstar has shown a total lack of responsibility and customer care.

Avoid this airline.
