Went to JAB’s today to see the tuxedo…

Went to JAB’s today to see the tuxedo shirts. They didn’t have the prices on the shirts so i looked around for a sales person 3 people where at the register talking to one customer, just talking and laughing, so i waited until the customer left, and the only thing the said was “welcome to Josep A Banks”. That’s it, all 3 stood there at that register and continued to talk and laugh, no one else but two people were in the store and they were getting fitted for a tuxedo. That’s why people are shopping online and not bothering going inside stores. This is the Second time at that particular store this happened so i will be calling the manager in the morning.

Poor experience at Little Rock AR store

I have been shopping at Jos. A. Bank on Chenal in Little Rock for many years and have always received great service. However, that was not the case today AT ALL. My experience was similar to Dr Fisher’s and Ms Morgan’s recent visit. I went in looking to buy several pairs of pants and shirts and possibly a few other things if I found something I liked. I walk in and find one of the sections i am looking for via trial and error. I comb through several sections of pants and pull 3 pair of slacks that were close to my size. There appeared to be only one customer in the store and he left during this time. No greeting yet. I help myself to the dressing room to begin trying them on. For each pair I walk outside to the mirror to see how they fit. I do this back and forth four times. On the third walk out after the mirror I go and look at the racks again to see if there is anything else I can try on. As I was doing this there was a guy out there piddling around straightening out ties on the table, turns around looks straight at me and doesn’t say a word, no can I help you, nothing. At this point I have one more pair to try and I am not finding the right fit. I didn’t say anything or ask for help because at this point I figure if they don’t care then I don’t want their help because it likely will not be worth a shot. All the while this was going on there were other people that appeared to work there because they were talking and one or two walked out to the dressing room area then straight back to the room for employees only. After my last pair of slacks to try on I put my own clothes back on and walk out with the clothes in hand just looking to see if someone will get interested in selling some clothes. Nope. The guy that was dutifully arranging the ties on the table was now over at the mirror assisting a customer that I had not yet seen. There also appeared to be a lady there helping as well. No one acknowledges me so in frustration I carry the unfolded slacks and dump them and the hangers on the front desk by the cash register and walk out the door. Management, corporate office, anyone with authority, please wake the freak up! You have employees in this store that are not giving bad service because they are giving no service at all!
You say that this is “not the level of service you strive for” but yet this has happened several times in just the past couple months and still no change. Stop giving lip service and take some corrective action. I am coming back in next week for Super Tuesday and I will see if you’ve done anything about it. If you haven’t I can assure you it will not be pretty! DO BETTER!! 3-19-26

UPDATE: I DID EMAIL JABListens BUT HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE. I STILL INTEND TO GO BACK TO THE STORE ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK SO WE WILL SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN ANY CHANGE EFFECTED YET.

SECOND UPDATE: I RECEIVED AN UNDELIVERABLE MESSAGE REPLY ON MY EMAIL TO JABListen. I DOUBLE CHECKED THE ADDRESS AND IT IS THE SAME AS YOU INSTRUCTED. I WILL TRY AGAIN. ONE MORE TIME. PERHAPS THE PERSON RESPONDING TO THESE SURVEYS COULD GET INVOLVED AND ENDURE THE MESSAGE GETS DELIVERED??

THIRD UPDATE: I GOT ANOTHER UNDELIVERABLE NOTICE FROM JABListens email address. HERE IS A COPY SO EVERYONE CAN SEE THIS:

Never ordering from them online again

Never ordering from them online again. I was lied to each day I called and asked for an update and finally go the truth today that my package hasn't been sent out yet. I was going to bring the sport coat on a trip and now I will have to go out and quickly find another one. Worst customer service ever. Do not trust them ever! After 5 days this is what I get from them. Better clothing companies out there.

Poor Quality in Jos. A. Bank men's dress shirts

I have bought a few Jos. A. Bank dress shirts. All of them failed in a relatively short period of time (less than two years of weekly wear). Significant fraying on the collars, cuffs and even the button-down front fabric edges. The shirts developed loose hanging threads all over and became such an embarassment that I could no longer wear them. I have much older ( greater than 10 years) dress shirts (US made) that have never done this.

Very poor quality. I will never buy another Jos. A. Bank dress shirt.

I just purchased an American-made dress shirt online and we will see if it holds out better.

Albert at the Garden City Store

Albert at Garden City Store on Long Island was a great help to me today. I was not able to find shoe trees anywhere in retail stores. I called one of my favorite menswear stores Jos. A. Bank. Albert was able to locate the shoe trees in less than a minute in the store inventory. Albert put them aside for me. I picked them up, and love the quality.

Quality no longer suits

Jos A Bank's quality has declined sharply over the past several years, since they were purchased by the parent company of Men's Wearhouse. As others noted, the cloth/material used is thinner and cheaper. The craftsmanship and tailoring is less precise. And they have just gone cheap. For example, they advertise jackets as "soft shoulder," as if this is an improvement for consumers when it is the same kind of cost-cutting spin as the car wash that boasts of "free self-vacum." Suitjackets/sportcoats have for eons included padded shoulders to give them shape and definition -- to look sharp. Reducing the padding saves manufacturing costs but gives the wearer the look of donning a potato sack with lapels. For decades Jos A Bank earned the moniker of "the poor man's Brooks Brothers." These days they are just poor.

Poor product quality

I used to be a loyal customer of Joseph A. Banks. I have found the quality of the clothing to have really dropped off the past few years. I had purchased a couple of tweed winter shirts several years ago and actually wore them so much that the elbows were coming through. I could never find a replacement at Banks until I caught an ad for the exact same shirt. I ordered four of them on the website and was really disappointed to find the shirts were made from a much thinner material and nowhere near the quality of the earlier shirts. I returned all of them to the closest store. When asked for the reason for the return - I told the sales person and she admitted that she also felt the quality of their merchandise had really dropped off in the past few years. Sorry Banks - unlikely I would bother to buy another of your products. I would not mind paying a few bucks more for a quality product but I guess I will have to go elsewhere to find it.

I’m a business person who continues to…

I’m a business person who continues to wear a suit and tie daily for work. As such, I need a decent array of suits in the rotation.

A couple years ago, I began purchasing suits at Joseph A Banks. This turned out to be a terrible mistake. While I purchased suits that were designated “high end“ I was terribly disappointed. Over the course of a couple years I purchased eight suits and four sports coats with pants. Six of the suits developed tears and small nicks in the pants. One suit developed a small hole on a sleeve. At first, I thought nothing of it, but, when it occurred to multiple garments, it was clear that a pattern existed.

To their credit, the store did allow me to return two of the suits for replacement. Each of the replacements also develop the same problem. Upon consulting with the local tailor he explained the issue with the quality of fabric. Despite my only wearing the suits once every two to three weeks or so, the fabric did not hold up.

Given that I am a business person, who works in an office, one would not expect this problem to occur. Further, I have several other suits that were not purchased at Joseph A Banks that have lasted for over 10 years.

Stay away from this retailer. The quality of the garments is poor.

Best Company Ever!!!

This is the first time I have ever made a purchase from this company and I have to say that I am beyond impressed!!! We purchased two suits and three shirts for my husband and it was the easiest process I could have ever imagined. They made it so easy to return the items that didn't fit, they immediately issued a refund, and they were just awesome to work with. The quality of the merchandise is as good as it gets and the prices were phenomenal too. Anyway, I had to leave a review because this company has it going on and from now on they will be my go to when we need dress clothes for my husband.

This is the only store that greeted us upon arrival and was willing to help us (Dedham,Ma) The other competitors didn’t even acknowledge our presence. They were very polite and helpful.

Used to be a great outfitter

Used to be a great outfitter. High quality suits and shirts at a fair price. The material quality now is aweful. Dress shirts are paper thin; suits similarly, even Reserve brand (which once listed at $1200 - $1350, now $475-$650). I ordered a dress shirt and tie. When arrived, shirt was ripped (they stuck a sticker over it, so obviously was a return, re-ship) and tie has a pull. Shipping takes forever now (a package literally sat in FedEx warehouse for 4 days, 3 days in another warehouse, now sitting in the one near me, yet to be delivered). It takes 10 days or more to get clothing that is subpar (quality) and/or damaged. There are better choices, as Jos A Bank has gone downhill, tremendously.

Don’t ruin your event go to someone else

That was one of the worst quality suits I ever rented. Before the wedding I went to my closet and pulled out an old suit and wore it. What it lacked in over used thread bare look it made up in a sloppy fit. The slide tie was indented the wrong direction tried to just return that at rental. Nope. It was on time and ready to go. I got to try it on for fit but the list was so long of what it would have taken we decided to just live and learn. Stay away.

Not a reasonably good place for a career in Menswear.

I worked for this company for two years. The regional sales manager was Hidalgo. The man had very little conception of what sales personnel were responsible for and had very limited knowledge on how they performed. So much so that turnover for sales consultants in Southeast Florida was and continues to be extremely high.
The management personnel lacked sufficient training.Their staff were constantly misjudging the needs of customers. And their reputation to the consumers was abysmal.
Anyone interested in pursuing a career in men’s clothing? Should stay away from Josephbank

Discrimination

My friend went to the store in Columbia,SC and he was told he was a liability and they would not alter a suit for him. He's a little person. How is he a liability. This is ridiculous and disrespectful. He was insulted. I think your employees are just lazy and didn't want to do it. Discrimination! He has many, many friends and y'all made a bad mistake. --Lisa Wood
