We booked flights to Santiago without a clear plan other than hiring a car and plan our 20 days as we went along. I saw an ad for Joe Bayfield and decided to give him a call. For a very reasonable fee, Joe provided a wealth of ideas (flights, activities, car hire, hotels etc) - overall, a detailed framework that turned into a fantastic journey through Atacama, Bolivia, Santiago, the Lake District, Torres del Paine and Isla Chiloé.
Joe is exceptionally personable, easy to work with, and his follow-up throughout the planning process was excellent. A couple of small details were overlooked (such as suggesting stargazing on a full-moon night and the challenges of hiring a car on a Sundayin some locations), but to be honest, we never expected that level of fine-tuning for the time and cost involved.

Overall, we were extremely pleased with Joe’s help, knowledge and value for money. We will happily use him again for our planned three-week trip to Argentina in 2026. (we're now converts to travelling in Latin America thanks to Joe).

Great trip and really superb service pre trip. One of the activities didn’t happen which wasn’t a big deal but it seems unnecessarily difficult getting a refund for it which leaves a bit of a bad taste. Ref 374351. It should be seamless.

JLA gave us a wonderful tour of South america. in particular they gave us a guide in Etienne, who's knowledge of the cultures, politics and history of the countries we visited was unparalled. Everywhere we went he pointed us in the right direction and eased our passage in unfamiliar surroundings. from the moment he met us in Rio until we waved goodbye in lima his relaxed, confident manner and sense of humour made for a thoroughly enjoyable tour. Thank you to Etienne and JLA for making our trip to south America unforgetable.

Michelle listened to our requests for specific destinations for types of treks for quality of hotels and she fulfilled these requests completely as only an expert in this region could. She arranged over 20 transfers and 8 hotels all of which went flawlessly. quite an incredible accomplishment.

Our trip covered 6 different countries in Central America. We stayed in a great range of places from cities to beach hotels, ones by lakes and other in the shadow of volcanoes. We came away feeling we had had a real insight into the countries and the people who lived there. We had a wonderful guide who really knew the countries (he was a Guatemalaan), and kept the trip running very smoothly. The local guides that were used all had excellent English and knowledge of their town and country. JLA took the time to organise the visa we needed to enter Honduras so we didn't miss out on the Mayan ruins. Most morning starts were at a sensible time so we were never exhausted, even though there was a lot of traveling involved. We were offered large range of included and extra tours. Group sizes are never big (ours was 10) so we were able to mix with the other travellers. We were taken to some excellent restaurants that gave us a flavour of each countries foods.
The admin staff were all very good and the company organised all our flights including the ones for a holiday were took before we arrived for the tour. There provide a very useful app with all the info we needed including our flights.

Went pretty much to plan and problems were sorted out very effectively by our guide en route. Great guide, good accommodation and transport. Those experiences included within the trip were excellent as were the optional excursions. Food in places recommended by our guide was excellent.
An educational adventure enjoyed enormously.

Would strongly recommend JLA. I have travelled with them several times and all the staff are friendly and so knowledgeable. This trip when thanks to the airline I ended up stranded in Rio the JLA teams both in London and their local agent in a country I wasn’t even supposed to go to, were all so helpful
and it was beyond reassuring to have them there. They always choose terrific hotels and everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Terrific company

We could not fault JLA from the time we first made enquiries about the trip to finally going. Communication was key and we were kept in the loop throughout. The trip was meticulously planned and thought out to showcase the fantastic places in Chile and Argentina. Everyone involved with JLA had fantastic knowledge of South America and their respective areas. This was a trip of a lifetime and completely exceeded expectations. Experiencing the Perito Moreno Glacier and the Iguazu Falls were breathtaking highlights. A special mention for Sally Dodge (Travel Expert), Max Wood (Tour Leader) and Maria Leal (Extension Tour Leader) who made our experience truly memorable. Thank you to all involved.

Just got back from the trip of a lifetime in Patagonia organised by JLA. Our representative, listened to what we wanted, made helpful suggestions and created a perfectly tailored trip for us. The expertise on South America, of this company is outstanding! This was our second big trip organised by them and we would definitely use them again.

Very professional company with a great knowledge of Chile and Argentina

We chose to travel with Journey Latin America to Patagonia because their itinerary seemed to offer everything we were looking for (including Santiago and Buenos Aires as well as Patagonia). We were not disappointed. Whilst a very busy two weeks, we experienced awe inspiring nature (glaciers, national parks, treks and hikes, beagle channel boat trip, stunning wildlife, etc) alongside city life in Santiago, Valparaiso and the amazing Buenos Aires. The advice and information before our trip from JLA was expert, informative and unbiased. The trip ran smoothly, being led the whole time by an excellent tour leader and interspersed with local guides with expert knowledge when required. The hotels were great and we were kept safe and informed at all times. I would thoroughly recommend JLA - excellent service and they really understand this part of the world.

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. Journey Latin America helped us create a custom itinerary for 3 weeks travelling Brazil. This was a custom small group tour with 4 of us and not one of their pre-designed packages. They went through about 5 iterations of the itinerary with us, helping us decide what to see and where to stay. All the accommodation, internal flights, and connections were arranged by them and the experience whilst there was flawless. Every pickup was on time and well communicated on whatsapp. We stayed in 4 different destinations and each one had a tour guide waiting for us to provide advice and help book local trips. The tour guides all spoke excellent English which was a huge help since most of the locals have very limited English especially in the more rural areas. This trip would have been impossible for us to arrange on our own, I’d highly recommend them.

The trip combined two things I particularly wanted to see in South America (Machu Picchu and Iguassu Falls) which are difficult to do yourself, along with a number of other interesting places (Cusco, La Paz, Rio, etc.). The transport and accommodation logistics are complex for an individual to organise, JLA did it for me.
