Needed to replace my wife’s York treadmill that had been just short enough for the garage back door into the house to clear it. The Slimline length was longer by 2 cms. However, the JTX Specification very usefully includes Floor to Deck height at 12cms. I had figured that the door clearance would be one centimetre, which it is! Ordering and delivery were straightforward though assembly immediately was a problem. Assembly Step One reads, “Loosen the L-shaped knobs on the left and then raise the stand posts”. Obviously, the knobs are on both sides and I loosened. Tried to raise the stand posts but no joy. Loosened a bit more. Nope. And a bit more. Still no give. Called the Help number and a very pleasant lady said that she’d had the same problem. Solution was to fully unscrew, which I did, problem solved. The instruction should read, “Fully unscrew the L-shaped knobs on both sides and then raise the posts”. The rest of the assembly was plain sailing. It comes with a, “T-shape wrench”, tool for adjusting the alignment of the running mat. However, no instructions at all in the booklet. Fortunately, I was able to retrieve the old York leaflet on that from the bin. The Slimline is well enough built for my lightweight wife though she did say that it wobbles a bit compared to the old York that was built like a tank. Heavy weight members of the species might wish to think about that. Speed and time are all she needs and it is plenty good enough for that. The controls for those are user friendly. However, selecting programs is fiddly and options to create custom programs is a, “Don’t’ go there”, even for me. Accurate and comprehensive instructions would have merited five stars all round.
