Ordered a chess set on the 5th of December, I phoned their helpline on several occasions and the people on the line would advise me that the item has not been shipped yet, but an email on the 23rd of December advised that the item was in customs. They could not provide an estimated time as to when the item would be shipped even though on the receipt it stated 3-5 business days. I appreciate that over the Christmas period they were busier, however, honesty and realistic guidelines would have been welcoming. On the 15th of January, I requested a refund and the advisor said they would pass it on but it depends if they receive the request before they ship the item. Thankfully I obtained a full refund in my account today.

This experience has not filled me with confidence and because of this, I won't be purchasing from this company in the future.

I have been contacted by Kaoori, who advised that they would send me a code for the full value (£364) that I paid if I change my review on Trustpilot. I advised them that I will change it once I have received the product.

After about 4 weeks and 2 further calls from them I received a code in my inbox, I used it to purchase from their site again and had a chess set delivered about a month later. The chess set cost £340, the board feels solid and looks good quality with quite a bit of detail. The chess pieces feel much cheaper, however, I can't complain since it was free. It also comes with a bag, where you can put the pieces that are not in use.

Whilst I doubt I would purchase from this company again, at least it has restored some faith that if you were to purchase an item from them that you would get it, but be prepared to wait a month or so.

This shop is a joke, avoid it. First of all they took over 2 weeks to send my parcel instead of 3-5 days. Then it turned out they sent my a completely different set than I ordered. After asking what's going on it turned out they didn't have the one I ordered so they sent me a different (cheaper) one without even asking me! Arranging a pick up of this set from my house obviously took forever. They also took a month to send me my refund money, of course I had to remind them of that multiple times without any response, the phone customer service is useless and just keeps on repeating the same things to you. Seriously this place is not worth a second of your time nor a penny that you worked for

AVOID - nothing arrived.
My first order for quite a special present (nov 2020) never arrived and I received no reply from emails (but strangely did get someone on their live web chat very early one morning). They told me it must have been lost in the post, gave a full refund and offered discount on new order which I took.
I re-ordered a new product because what I wanted was now out of stock, giving them a second chance. Heard nothing one month on (it said allow 20 days) and after emailing them they just replied to say my order cannot be fulfilled and has now been cancelled. Now 3 months from initial order, awaiting a refund.
I tried to support an independent but I am not trying again!

Having ordered a chess set was told it could be 20 days, when it appeared it was going to exceed this changed the order to one they had in stock which could be dispatched immediately. Despite several messages to & fro & most of the time being ignored and at one point being told it had been dispatched still no chess set had been delivered.
I’ve now requested a refund as I have no indication whether I will ever get my set.
Update: set arrived today 31/12/2020 with no chess pieces & a damaged board, emailed the seller & as usual no response.
Update: Refund was given & company has gone to great levels to regain confidence including issuing a credit towards another purchase.

Awful company. I've ordered a 3 player chess set for £216 on black Friday.
Website said two in stock, then received a call to say it won't be ready until the 12th.
Still no set, had a message to say it got lost in the post and another sent proved with an invalid parcel tracking number.
Now its too late to get anything like this for Christmas and I'm £216 light.

I wonder if this company really exists... I checked out the Austrian website (kaoori.at) and thought it was an Austrian company. Also the email address was Austrian ([contact]@kaoori.at). I ordered a chess board, but I haven’t received any shipping confirmation yet. I found out out that the email address doesn’t even exist and the original shop is located in London, but the 24/7 hotline is a German number. I am very confused about these circumstances. this is a really really dubious website, which I don’t trust at all. And there is no way to contact the shop, simply because there is no customer service offered (the contact form on the website doesn’t work either) I hope I will get my order anyway, because I have already paid for it!

This company are awful. I ordered a chess set two weeks ago and received no updates on the order even though it said it would arrive within 3-5 working days. I tried using their online service which was not helpful and on their website you can't set up an account for an unknown reason ? I eventually emailed their customer service who wrote back insanely quickly with what I can assume is an automated email saying that the set I ordered at time of order was not in stock and I have now been refunded ? What ? So basically you order something and wait around and only once YOU contact them they decide to write back that they don't have it ? Really poor.

When contacting the company they could not ever find my order and it took longer to come than was expected!

I ordered a chess set as a Christmas present on 22nd November with "3-5 days" delivery. After two weeks, my order had not arrived and I had not heard anything further from Kaoori.

I spoke to their customer services on phone and also on online chat, but they could not give me any update whatsoever on the progress of my order. They could not even confirm whether or not it had been dispatched.

This was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend Kaoori or use them again.

Chess pieces look really good, detailed but the bag I ordered with it is overpriced. The bag fits all the pieces though. I found the website misleading; the write up suggests you are purchasing from the UK. 6 days after ordering I received an email updating order status to shipped but did not receive it for a further 7 days. On my order it stated shipping was 3-5 business days. Took 13 days from order to receiving the products. I’d have been hesitant to order if I knew it was being shipped from outside the UK.

Just ordered a Staunton 20" chess set from Kaoori.co.uk Arrived within a couple of days in perfect condition, exactly as ordered. Very happy with purchase.

Awful. I specifically asked them to deliver for my father's 80th birthday and they assured me that it would be fine. It needed to be special as due to lockdown I hadn't seen him this year at all as we live 600 miles apart. The order didn't arrive in time, then when it did it was wrong. I had to fight to convince them it they had sent the wrong item. Turns out they knew it was the wrong item as it was out of stock but sent a replacement anyway. Another promise that they would send a replacement super fast .. a week later I am still waiting. I call, they promise to get back to me .. rinse, repeat... sigh!!

Update - 6 weeks later I did receive the replacement item which is good. Too late for the occasion and the item was broken, but repairable.

I really love my chess set the pieces and board are amazing.
I would recommend you add a baggie for the pieces since putting them back in the green containers make it difficult to close.
But love the set just that small detail is my recommendation.

Very happy with the service, it is fast and the support was brillant: unfortunately 3 figures arrived slightly damaged and they organized the replacement immediately. Higly recommended
