Kayak and Flight Assist

I booked a flight on Kayak which was offered by Flight Assist. Basically it is a bait and switch. Read their reviews. I cannot believe Kayak allows companies like Flight Assist on their site. From now on I will never use the Kayak site again

Do NOT use for car rentals

Do NOT use for car rentals! ZERO support for problems.
I used Kayak to book a car rental and ended up with a terrible experience with one of your partners (Sixt, booked through Discovery Cars). When the rental company refused to give me the car and kept my entire $2300 payment, I immediately contacted Kayak for help.
Your platform is supposed to be a trusted resource, but when a problem arose, Kayak provided zero support. Your customer service was completely unhelpful and simply passed me off to your partner, who also refused to provide a refund.
As the platform that took my initial booking, you have a responsibility to your customers, but your company chose to point fingers and shirk all accountability. You are nothing more than an unreliable middleman that enables fraudulent practices by your partners. I am pursuing legal action against all companies involved, including Kayak, for this fraudulent transaction.
Do not trust Kayak for car rentals. You will be left completely on your own if anything goes wrong, and you will lose your money. I highly recommend booking directly with a rental company instead.

Kayak Made Phony Reservation

I made a reservation a hotel in San Francisco through Kayak. Kayak sent me email the confirmation for the reservation. They even asked me to pack and prepare for the trip. On the day to check in hotel I came at 9pm. The hotel clerk flatly denied that I didn't have any reservation at all. I called Kayak. There is no one to pick up the phone. Other hotels in town sold out their rooms. I have no choice but to pay extra 2.5 times for two rooms the hotel charged me. I did complain with Kayak later, but they refused to pay me back the extra charges I paid at the hotel because of their phony reservation.

Really bad do not use

Really bad do not use! They advertise my flight would include a carry on but after purchasing, it said that one wasn’t included. I then proceeded to contact them, where they just told me it wasn’t included, completely ignoring the fact I had a screen shot of the statement telling me I had a free carry on. This just shows bad customer service. I then got an email saying that my flight didn’t get confirmed due to a flight change. This caused my flight price to increase over $100. This is unacceptable as the price you pay is the price you should get. I had already gone through the paying process.bad, I’m going to stick to using Skyscanner

Super Frustrating experience with “Kayak Instant Book”

I booked a flight through a ‘Kayak Instant Book’ button, expecting exactly what the name implies — an instant, confirmed ticket verified by Kayak. The process showed my trip as “Booked” and gave me a confirmation code from Kayak, so I thought I was set. Only after the purchase did I learn it was routed to AirfareAssist, which wasn’t clearly disclosed until the very final step of the transaction in small print.

The next day, I got an email saying my booking was actually pending and that I had to call to “finalize” it. They also warned me not to book elsewhere to avoid duplicate charges. This left me stuck in limbo with no ticket in hand and unable to confidently book another flight while prices climbed.

By the time it was clear nothing would be issued, fares had tripled. Kayak’s only response was to forward my complaint to their partner, then ignore my follow-ups.

This isn’t just poor service, it’s a misleading booking flow that uses Kayak’s brand and the term Instant Book to create a false sense of security, while shifting all responsibility to a third party. Kayak profits from these transactions but washes its hands when things go wrong.

After this experience, I can’t recommend booking anything through Kayak other than using it for fare searches. Book direct with the airline.

Selected flights and when details entered ready for online payment, flights disappeared, and phone call from an overseas call centre advising missed out on last seats, and offering a deal on other more expensive, less suitable flights. Kept phoning for next week using details taken from attempted booking . Scam, beware

Terrible experience with Kayak’s car…

Terrible experience with Kayak’s car rental:
before payment I was promised free cancellation within 24 hrs, a $100 refund >24 hrs before pickup, and $200 <24 hrs

but as soon as I paid it switched to “non-refundable.” Customer service gave me canned, useless replies and refused to escalate to a manager. This bait-and-switch feels like outright deceptive advertising.
I won’t trust Kayak again.

I used to think this was a legit flight booking company, having heard the name for at least a decade. Now I don't, even before reading all the negative reviews here.
You link to Flight Mover as a comparison site and it turns out to be a scam site that harvests personal information. I had to lock and replace my credit card because of you.
I came to suggest you unlink that scam site, but now I see you have other problems areas to work on. Good luck.

My claim has been going on now for 15 months with empty promises and lies!
I never intended to write diapointing reviews! But it’s the only course I can now take to expose them and warn YOU of their apparent tactics.
Don’t be fooled check out TRUSTiway Insurence company before you risk your hard earned dollars! You just might loose your trust and your claim, even if it is a legitimate claim!

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Deposit Not Refunded After Several Months

I booked a car through this website, and unfortunately, the rental company they referred me to has still not returned my £350 deposit after more than several months.

Despite contacting support multiple times and providing all the necessary documentation—including bank statements and transaction details—I’m only receiving copy-paste email replies with nothing more than the phone number of the rental company, which has proven to be unresponsive and untrustworthy. I’ve clearly explained the situation several times, yet no real help has been offered.

It feels like this platform takes no responsibility for the companies they work with or the issues their customers face. Sadly, I’m left without any way to recover my deposit even after months of waiting and chasing.

Please be careful not to fall into the same situation. I’m more than willing to share all my documentation as proof if needed.

I booked a car from Europcars through kayak. thing is, when i filled out a form for booking a car, there was no age field. i paid in advance and when i went to the Europcar office to get the car, they check my passport, see my age and say that they have a policy that doesn't allow them to rent a car to anyone under 21. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THAT ON KAYAK. Europcars said to contact Kayak, because the booking is done through them they can't refund, Otherwise they would. Kayak on the other hand has a strict no return policy even though i got this problem because of them. Don't bother booking a car through kayak, avoid the problems and just go ahead and book directly through rental offices.

I’m extremely disappointed with my…

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience using Kayak.com. The third-party services they promote—such as Underpricer—represent some of the worst business practices I’ve ever encountered. These companies are allowed to operate with zero transparency and zero accountability, and Kayak turns a blind eye.

Kayak also promotes travel insurance that is essentially useless. The fine print is designed so that almost no real-world scenario is covered, and even when your trip does meet the listed criteria, you’re still denied reimbursement. It feels like a complete scam.

What’s worse is that after a trip was canceled, I’m still being charged unexpected fees. Kayak does nothing to intervene or help resolve the issue. It’s clear they care more about affiliate revenue than their customers’ trust or financial well-being.

I expected better from a major travel site, but this has left a bad taste—and I’ll be booking elsewhere going forward.

the stole my credit card information, without booking a flight.

while trying to make a reservation on a very good price, and after have given all the personal information and credit card numbers, when I pressed the button to pay, pops up a happy window saying that that trip is no more available but i can go choose another flight because they have all my information. I am sure that this is a fraudulent way to get my personal and card information for nothing.
