One of the absolute worst banking for…

One of the absolute worst banking for and overdraft fee (that I infact did not meet the required criteria for) then things start picking up. I made a purchase at harbor freight. About 2 days later my card was charged 75% of my payment. I called in asked them to fix the issue it took them 5 days to resolve the issue and an addition 4 to decide to ship my new card because they closed my card. A week later I go to use the ATM to pull cash out because I am basically living paycheck to paycheck in today's economy. As soon as I enter my card the ATM takes it and does not return it. I call in the next day and they say they are canceling "everyone's" card and issuing new cards. Which is another kick in the ass. So I'm given an ATM card. 3 days later my entire f'n savings account is emptied and there is no record of any transactions or fees since Nov 1. I get the same uncaring response from the bank when I call and they take their f'n time when processing an issue. Mind you I live in a town with 8 banks and 4k people it's not like I live in a densely populated city. In the past 5 months they have taken over 600$ in "fees" that I owe And when I bring up my records they say there is nothing they can do about it. I strongly recommend you choose anything but this company.

Customer service is the worst

Customer service is the worst. They lack people skills. Carlos the manager at the North Penn location was uncaring and lacked genuine concern. He kept saying he was very busy with other clients and that I should schedule an appointment and come in talk. Since when did it take an appointment to go over getting a replacement Atm card?

Key Bank warned about suspicious…

Key Bank warned about suspicious phishing emails being sent to customers. Key Bank then sent me a phishing email stating that a lady (who works for U.S. Bank, according to Linkedin) wanted to talk to me about my financial well-being. I assumed the email was a scam and reported it to Key Bank who then said that the phishing email did come from Key Bank. Key Bank is now phishing their own clients! I will always believe that emails sent regarding my banks or banking are bogus, because I thought I opted out of marketing messages from banks.

Well they've done it again

Well they've done it again. Back in 3/22 they noticed fraudulent activity on my debit card and warned me about it. I thought they had turned over a new leaf and were better policing themselves. WRONG! When they notified me of the charge they killed my debit card and sent me a new one so no other charges could come thru. WRONG! This was the 5th or 6th time in the last 5 years something like this has happened. I was reassured with the issuance of the new card no further problems. WRONG! I was supposed to go and notify my vendors of my new card info and did most of them. There was one I didn't do cause they only charge every 3 or 4 months. Then on June 9,2022 @ 9am I got a email from Dollar Shave Club saying they were having trouble processing the payment for my next shipment, of course they were they were the 1 I didn't update my card info with. I checked my account balance and saw I had only 15 cents at the time cause all my monthly bills had been paid and I'm on a fixed income and I wanted to avoid any overdrafts. So I didn't update the debit card info yet, I was waiting till I got more money in the account. Then on June 15,2022 @ 9am I got a second notice from DSC saying they tried again to process the payment and that they needed me to update my card info, but I still only had 15 cents in the account so I didn't cause I didn't want to overdraft the account and incur the bank's overdraft fee of $38.50. But latter that evening I got a third email from DSC @ 7:39pm saying it had been processed. Apparently because of some agreement between Mastercard and certain vendors if it is deemed a recurring charge they can force the charge thru without the new and correct info even if there isn't enough funds to cover it so everyone wins, DSC, Mastercard, and Key Bank cause they get to charge you that overdraft fee and another $28 fee if it's not made whole in 5 business days. What a bunch of crap! Now Key Bank wants to kill my new card and send me another new 1 so it most definitely can't happen again. WRONG! Back in March they said with the new card it wouldn't happen again but Mastercard can just force it thru? With all the accounts and cards they process thru the month they know what bank account to force a $17.68 charge thru? So they overdraft my account, cause the balance was only 15 cents, DSC gets their $17.68, and Mastercard gets their %, and Key Bank get $38.50 and another $28 in 5 business days if I can't come up with $59. Maybe I should take up a collection thru my PayPal account cause Key Bank or Mastercard ain't going to make me whole. I don't get my SSI money till the 3rd of the month so I'll probably be charged the additional $28. That will through everything out of wack having to pay the extra $87 or so. It sucks to not have money

Horrible bank

Horrible bank. They take months to actually process the information you give them to get your account up and running and then forever to send out a debit card. Literally any other bank would be a better option.

WORST

WORST! They never pick up. Just want to change my password. Tried to do it through the website - processing error. Tried calling --- every time I'm put on hold indefinitely. Waited up to an hour last week, still couldn't get through. RIDICULOUS.

EDIT: They finally fixed it after an hour and a half on hold. Issue could have been fixed with ONE LINE of HTML on website - "Change user ID if you have not logged in since XX/XX/2021" - Get a junior developer stat!

Key Investment Services

I have had my investments and worked with a financial advisor with affiliate Key Investment Services for several years. Until recently when the financial markets have taken large downturns because of the pandemic and Russia's invassion of the Ukraine, my investments have done very well and I have yet to be charged a fee. I have also found the customer service in general to be very good and my financial advisors to be very competent and easy to work with.

It's Been Great For Me

Update: Recently had issues with a purchase, which required me to contact customer service many times (both Keybank and another company). Customer service with Keybank has been great. I've talked to multiple people over a short period of time. They all were very friendly and helpful with my issue.

I'm surprised with all of the bad reviews. I've been with Keybank for years now and I've had a great experience with them. Amazing customer service and I rarely have problems with them. The only downside is that there's no Keybank locations where I live, but it still works well online for me.

I have had a positive experience with using a feature offered by key bank. Being able to lock or unlock my debit card has been most helpful. I really appreciate this feature because it gives me more control of my money. Thank you key bank!

Changing Banks ASAP!!!

It's no secret that many banks treat minorities badly through systemic practices. However, my last two encounters with KeyBank hold no doubt in my mind that they also practice such treatment. On Christmas Eve, I had the day off so I decided to see If I could get a Personal Loan to replace an existing 401K loan, for better additional payment terms, and pay off any other things I didn't want to keep paying on monthly. I want to first point out that I always pay every loan I have ever had early by making additional payments in varying amounts weekly and sometimes months to get them paid down sooner. This and many other good habits have earned me a nice credit score of 819 for Transunion and Equifax, and an 842 Fico Score. At present, I only have my car loan showing on my report. I have paid off everything else I ever had on the report earlier in the spring of 2021, so it hasn't been that long. And it's not like I don't use my credit cards at all, I just pay them in a more timely manner. My intention was to get a personal loan, replace the $24k 401K loan so I could make as many additional payments as needed to pay it off in 3 years instead of 5. KeyBank told me they can't give me the loan for the amount I want because it's not a debt? They offered $15k at a much higher interest rate than an 819 Score should have granted me at 7.99%. The lower end was roughly 5%-5.99%. I was disappointed because I knew several people (including those who were white), that did the same thing with their banks and were not told it had to be for debt. Some used it just to get back on their feet or payoff non-debt items that they still owed on just the same, with no trouble and for the amount they asked for. One of which was for $30k far more than what I asked for. However, this isn't what is making me finally decide to change banks. The next week I went in just to get quarters for the laundry machine (2 $10 rolls), the same as I do every month at the Culver-Ridge Plaza KeyBank in Rochester, NY, and one of the tellers asked if I had an account. I was confused because I have been to banks that I am NOT a member of and never... I mean NEVER been asked that. I had been coming to this branch for the last year and go every month for quarters. He even made me show him my debit card and when I protested, he nastily stated, "Well, I don't know you!" As if that had absolutely anything to do with it. I literally watched him be pleasant and kind for the 3 people that were ahead of me, only to be treated like a criminal just to get 2 rolls of quarters! Because I was twice treated poorly by this KeyBank branch, I decided to set up a new account elsewhere and as soon as I get my account number, I will be closing both my accounts with KeyBank. What an awful company. A bank that won't provide banking services and tellers with nasty, biased dispositions towards minorities. Shame on you KeyBank.

KeyBank-Vampires

This call I made to make a payment was ok...I was behind my mortgage payment due to Corona virus problem. I took the forbearance program. At the end I was ready to start making my payments, but they did not want to accept the payment. They didn't want to accept my payments, but rather foreclosure my house....saying I didn't qualify for any program. They wanted all the money at once or foreclosure...no matter what the law says. Customer service at key bank are the worse in my opinion. There are some people there who are just waiting for a client to be in a littler bit of trouble to start sucking their blood like vampires. There's a young guy there who was very nasty with me and just wanted to send my account to foreclosure with no interest to help me. I told these people that if they don't accept my payment I'm going to go to the county clerk to deposit my payment and ask a judge to look at my case....and that I could also go to a bankruptcy court I told them. Then a young woman came to the phone and arranged my payment right away. I wonder how many people lost their home because these people....they are not Americans. They are vampires!... in my opinion. I wish they sell my account to another institution. The minute I can refinance, I'll do it...just to see No KeyBank in my life.

This bank is a total joke!

This bank is a total joke!! Do yourselves a favor and find a bank with some ethics and morals!! We have banked with them for years and the only time we have ever had a dispute with a charge on our credit card for $250.00 instead of $50.00 and they told us to work it out with the merchant. We were and still are traveling the US and do not ever plan to go back to this place. I cannot believe that a financial institution of any kind of size would make decisions like this. completely blown away. Needless to say I have closed all accounts with Key Bank and will never do business with them again.
