Our visit to the USA in an RV…

We have just visited the USA in an RV and stayed at the KOA campsites at
Lake Isabella, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Benson and Mesa/Apache. They all get 5 stars as they were clean and the staff were very helpful. The sites are very well-maintained, and the restrooms and facilities are excellent.

The KOA at Lynden

The KOA at Lynden, Wa. Is not a place I’d stay again. On arrival 8/22-24 the site was full of dog feces which we cleaned up. We had low voltage or no electric in our loop for two days so we had to use our propane for the fridge and had no AC the entire time in 90* weather. Our neighbors in a seasonal site were drunk, loud, smoking pot day and night until 2:00am and LOUD. After complaining it was worse the next night with them yelling “we will F you up” and other threats . The manager Eddy said this was resolved in two hours. Let me say it was not EVER resolved. It got worse. He blamed the low voltage on the power company, but other loops had power so that was a lie.
I have called them and emailed and they do not respond. I have called the corporate office twice. I have also requested a refund as we paid for electricity and didn’t have it our entire stay. My advice is find a nice state or county park, they are cheaper and quieter.
Lynden KOA is ghetto !

POOR MANAGEMENT and MISHANDLING OF SPILLED AND SPRAYED HUMAN WASTE

My family, friends and I will NEVER be back to Herkimer Diamond Mines KOA unless a major management change occurs.

Human waste was accidentally sprayed all over our 2 grills while a lift station that had broke was being pumped about 2 ft away from our camper, and there were gallons of septic human waste spilled on our site. I watched the whole thing happen thank goodness. The manager, when confronted and asked "if we hadn't been there, would you have told us about the incident," smugly smirked and didn’t say a word. He was arrogant, disrespectful, and has no business being in his current role. He has no regard for human health and safety AT ALL, and no customer service skills whatsoever.

MY fresh water was removed from my camper with their dirty hands. My spigot was used to rinse and hose out the lift station. Fecal Mist was going everywhere as they were essentially pressure washing it out. NO WARNING. NO quarantined area, no protective gear. NO attempt to clean ANYTHING afterwards even when I BEGGED them to take action. There was so much human wastewater going everywhere, it didn't even feel like reality.

The manager also informed us in the midst the incident that his boss said "turn those grills all the way up and cook it off." WHAT?????? I wanted to vomit. My vacation was officially RUINED.
We also travelled with a large group, most of whom where over charged, and left without proper resolution.

I have contacted KOA corporate, they defended the Manager, stating he was doing a great job, and they had known this manager for years, and refused to even entertain letting him go. I have also contacted the Health Department, who was there on Monday, as well as the President and CEO of KOA. She was the FIRST person after 6 days of BEGGING for someone to help who has offered a genuine apology. Her and the 2 lovely staff at the front desk (if they read this, THANK YOU again for being so kind and attempting to assist, these two women deserve a raise for what they are dealing with.)

On the evening of the incident, BOTH mine and my friend’s emails (buddy sites), were modified by a KOA staff member, rendering our accounts inactive, I assume in an attempt to prevent us from leaving our reviews. We discovered this after arriving back home. This issue HAS been resolved, and they have “reprimanded” the employee (who should immediately be fired in my opinion).
I spent 2 days arguing, anxious, crying, BEGGING for this man to TAKE ANY ACCOUNTABILITY OR ACTION, and he did NOTHING, the Owners did NOTHING, and KOA corporate was almost just as complacent about the issue. This was NOT a vacation; this was pure HELL.

I am hopeful that now that the President is involved, major changes will be under way soon to right very deep-rooted issues taking place at this campground.

Charged for a canceled site

I love KOA properties but I’ve just had a very disappointing customer service experience that has thus far gone unresolved. I was attempting to make reservations for 2 tent sites next to each other for my dad and I traveling in each our own camper vans. I called to inquire whether the remaining two campsites available on the property we were seeking were next to each other and the agent advised me to use the select your site feature for $50, which I was happy to do but couldn’t find how to do so on their site, so asked her for help navigating to it. She simply said she couldn’t see what I’m seeing so she wasn’t able to assist and advised that if I booked the sites and made the deposit she then would be able to tell me the site #s and if they weren’t next together we could immediately cancel and refund the charges. I was hesitant and asked if there was any other way to gain insight into the sites… no, she said. So I did as told and she advised that the sites weren’t next to each other and things could not be reconfigured to make them so, so we moved ahead with the cancellation and she advised me I would be refunded. I had received some emails on the road that appeared money coming back to me and went on with my trip. Upon returning home, I noticed KOA charges for over $300 that were not refunded, one for a deposit and one for an actual stay. With further investigation, I found that from the 2 tent sites reserved and supposed to be canceled, only 1 was canceled. I tried to work with the KOA in reversing these charges as it was the fault was with them for not canceling both sites but they felt that I should have caught their error through emails and check in texts. I honestly assumed the check in text was a glitch in their system because I wouldn’t just assume that my “reservation” was never canceled. Regardless, this line of reasoning requires me to a) assume what they assured me of did not happen, b) catch and amend THIER mistake and make additional phone calls to correct it while I’m on the road. I cannot understand logically how it is fair that I would bear the responsibility here for a “no show” when I did what was required on my end to request cancellation and was assured it was done. The only way to cancel a KOA site is to call, so I write this in warning to other customers that if the KOA makes a mistake in canceling, their philosophy is clearly not to take responsibility or do right by their customer for their own mishandlings and you bear the responsibility for making sure they do what they say and catch their mistake if they don’t. Beyond this I didn’t even want to book sites, I was just seeking additional information and help that the agent wasn’t able to provide! In efforts to escalate this, I was assured a manager would review my case and listen to the recorded call with the agent where I was told to book and then promised a cancel and call me the following day. No call the following day, no return of unauthorized charges for their mistake. I’m truly dumbfounded and beyond disappointed that this is how they would treat a customer.

KOA Grand Canyon fiasco

My son and I are on a cross-country road trip to celebrate his graduation, staying primarily at KOA campgrounds. As a 100% disabled combat veteran, I chose the Grand Canyon/Williams KOA for a special birthday treat on the 4th of July, reserving teepee #3 for a unique experience. What we got instead was a nightmare.
Upon arrival on July 3rd, the teepee reeked of feces and garbage, making it completely uninhabitable. We couldn’t stay inside for more than a few minutes. When I reported this to the front desk, it was clear they were already aware of the issue but offered no solutions. They had no alternative accommodations available, and I had to ask for a refund, which was given without so much as an apology.
Left stranded near the Grand Canyon on a busy holiday weekend, far from our home in Maine, we were forced to scramble for a new place to stay. The only option was a much more expensive rental, adding significant financial strain to our trip. The staff’s negligence and lack of care were shocking and unacceptable. This experience turned a special moment into a stressful ordeal. I expected better from KOA, a brand we trusted for this journey. No one should endure this kind of treatment, especially not a veteran on the 4th of July and their birthday.

KOA Luduc Alberta - Terrible

Absolutely ridiculous location to have a KOA (right beside) an airport. Loud jets flying over head all day and into the night. The noise is unbearable! As well we were told internet would be slow on night of Edmonton Hockey game. However, internet service is bad regardless. We tried to watch a movie in the middle of the day on June 17 when no hockey game was playing, and it constantly froze. We can't get out of here fast enough! Terrible, terrible experience. Please take your ques from the Sault Ste Marie, Ontario KOA which is the best in Canada.

KOA took 35000+ points I have…

KOA took 35000+ points I have accumulated because I didn't renew on time, and wasn't notified I was expired. Hmmmmm.....can't recommend this practice, points are earned and shouldn't be taken.

I would not recommend KOA at all

I would not recommend KOA at all. My first, and last, experience dealt with reservations and lack of disclosure. I made a reservation 4 days out over the phone; the person I spoke with never mentioned a cancellation fee. In fact, when they asked for a card they said it was to hold the reservation. And almost instantly my card was charged. Our camper had a failure in the water system not allowing us to go prompting a call to cancel our reservation. It was then that I learned KOA has a 7 day cancellation policy and the 65$ fee associated with it. No one mentioned that. Had I known I would have not made the reservation and just found a state park instead further away.

charged 153$ after cancelling reservation.

on march 13th i had a reservation at the nashville tn koa. my coach broke down on the road so i called to cancel and tell them i would not be able to make it. i was told i had to pay a deposit. i was good with that. when she told me it was the total of a nights stay which was 153$ i was floored. not only was i broke down on the road, which cost me over 5000$ i was charge for a spot that i didnt get to use. i rented a car to get home and passed the nashville koa. it was very empty. so i was not preventing them from making there money. they said they have a 7 day cancellation policy. that is ridiculous!!! no one cant prevent unknown problems with mechanical vehicles. i will not be renewing my membership and advise anyhone else to examine the policy before they renew. there are hundreds of great campgrounds around the country. good by koa and good riddence.
