Great initial online tools, but no follow-up for self-employed people. There needs to be some on-boarding documentation, ie. a copy of the portofolio structure selected (either emailed as a pdf or posted to keep in business records) and then there needs to be self-employed coluntary contributions instruction kit including minium annual contributions.
I did some research into Koura, on that analysis, I moved my KiwiSaver from my existing provider to Koura. I feel more confident about my future.
Moved Kiwisaver from my bank to Kōura, and so far, no regrets. I check my profile weekly to ensure I am informed of my financial position. The website is easy to navigate and understand, and the fees are much lower than other competitors which will save me tens of thousands.
I have been pleased to see the results of changing from the stock standard Kiwisaver through IRD after moving my retirement funding across to the Koura Kiwisaver scheme. I have been impressed by the options and recommendations based on my existing and future Kiwisaver savings.

Last year I moved my KiwiSaver to kōura after having it invested in my bank's KiwiSaver scheme for the last 10 years. I always just assumed that my bank would be the best option because they are a "bank" and would know "best". I now realise that assumption cost me a lot of money. I used kōura's digital tool to help me understand what kind of fund I should be in. Since moving my KiwiSaver in December, I have noticed significant growth. The process was super easy as well. Best decision I made. Only wish I had done it sooner.
kōura is pretty unique in the KiwiSaver market. Like Simplicity and others, they offer a low cost index fund approach, but they also give you a bit more control on where your money is invested (e.g., emerging markets vs developed world). Their fund advice tool gives tailored investment advice that seemed appropriate for my profile.
Sign-up process was smooth and efficient and the they were responsive when I had a query.
