The Hayloft
Lovely compact cottage. Ideal for a base to stay for a few days away from home.
Set in the middle of nowhere, was exactly what I needed to take the mind off everyday life.
Close enough to the local village and some historical locations. Would recommend this for a nice chilled get away.

Great time had
We have had a lovely few days staying in the Chaff House, lovely, spacious and comfortable. The owner Angela is lovely, we booked the farm tour getting to meet, feed and pet the animals, Angela shared lots of information and facts about the animals our girls absolutely loved it! Smooth process with booking and great communication with any questions we had, lovely welcome package and goodies and extremely accommodating with letting us have a later checkout. We will definitely be rebooking.

Upon our arrival
Upon our arrival, my friends and I felt unwelcome, almost as if we were being scolded for our presence. Despite our collective expertise in horse care, Angela seemed unaware of our extensive background. We've been on many equestrian retreats, but unfortunately, this one didn't measure up. While the accommodation and trails were quite nice, other aspects were disappointing. A significant issue arose when my mare, who has specific needs due to her back legs, got entangled in a hay net. I'd suggested alternatives to Angela, such as using electric fencing to section off a part of the turnout area, but she dismissed it without understanding the circumstances. She was hesitant to accommodate my mare's needs, leading to a predicament that was preventable. Furthermore, the stabling arrangements were inadequate, with only a single bag of shavings on concrete flooring. This was unacceptable for our horses, who require proper bedding for their well-being. We ended up sourcing additional shavings ourselves. This experience left us questioning the overall preparedness and awareness of differing equine needs at this venue. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can't recommend bringing your horse here, and I personally won't be returning.

Lovely place and friendly.
Lovely place. Wanted them to know we are thrilled and happy to have stayed here. Thank you for a lovely break. Sad we had to cut our break short and didn't get to thank you personally but we had a lovely time. Amy and Ryan

Birthday overnight stay
Came home today from an overnight at the hayloft for my birthday and it was lovely! This was our second time at the hayloft as we visited back in 2023 for a night away. When we got there we were welcomed by Angela & shown to our house & was advised if we needed anything to let her know. Luckily the weather was decent enough for us to enjoy the night in the hot tub & enjoy the views & the horses. The decor for my birthday was also a lovely gesture discussed between Angela & my partner. Only thing we couldn’t find was a pen to write in the guestbook when leaving.
Many thanks
Chloe

The Hayloft
Just got home from a week’s stay in The Hayloft and it couldn’t have been better. Scenic views all around, a friendly and welcoming family, and resident pets made the stay fantastic!
The hot tub is a lovely luxury, and The Hayloft was well equipped for 2 adults and our dog, with extras for the dog in case we forgot, and a goody basket for the adults.
We will definitely be returning for a peaceful break again, away from the hustle and bustle!

Guided hack
We visited today with our two horses for a two hour guided hack. Angela could not have been more accommodating. She let us park in the middle of the yard which was clean and well-organised. She escorted us up to the windfarm on her horse, dismounting to open the gates for us for a few lovely off-road canters. Angela was knowledgeable and professional, clearly cares for her horses and other animals, and runs her yard well. We had a lovely day. Thanks Angela!
Great time relaxing at Laigh Hapton farm.
We visited Laigh Hapton farm for a long weekend and had a great time. The chaff house was perfect. The large decking with hot tub was a brilliant. We were lucky to get some good weather and clear skys at night where the views were spectacular. With no light, sound or air pollution around, it's the perfect place to chill for a few days and relax. Angela was a brilliant host and couldn't do enough for us. We met a couple of her sons too, and they were more than happy to take time and chat to us about the farm and wildlife.
We'll definitely be back!
Could be spectacular under other management
When we arrived on Friday afternoon, we were greeted by Cian, as Angela was on holiday. Cian was very informative, ensuring we had all the information we needed and said to let him know if we needed anything else. On Sunday, Angela returned from her holiday but didn't bother to introduce herself. We met her the next day and felt like we were disturbing her.
The following day, I was flying a toy drone over the fields when I got a telling off from Angela because she had horse riding clients in. Clearly, they were more important than her holiday rentals. Overall, the accommodation was nice but needed a good clean. There were cobwebs all over the ceilings and windows, and the bathroom floor was lifting due to water damage which the kids caught there feet on. The bathroom floor near the shower was so dirty it weas stained. The hot tub had a permanent scum line around it, and we got a telling off for not putting the clips on the lid, even though we hadn't been in the hot tub yet. The deck was nice but an absolute death trap, slippery when dry and like ice when wet. We were considering coming back when dealing with Cian, but Angela and her attitude completely put us off.

We have just returned from a wonderful…
We have just returned from a wonderful , if too short ,a stay at Chaff House , We did initially booked for a week but due to a family emergency we had to return after just two nights but those 2 days and nights were enough to book again for a week next year . The cottage is just perfect for a relaxing getaway and Angela is a lovely host , nothing is too much trouble for her . The accomodation is really cosy and homely with everything you need . The horses are just beautiful and Cleo the Beardie was fascinated by them although she did miss the Peacock and his balancing act on the patio rail , Thank you Angela see you next year

Perfect rural escape
Stayed at the hayloft and couldn't have asked for a better experience, from the fantastic welcome pack when we arrived to the hot tub with fantastic views.
Angela and Ryan couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful answering every question/query we had. A must do is meet the animals from alpacas and horses through to ducks and hens.
If you're looking for a peaceful tranquil getaway you shouldn't look further than here, and only half an hours drive from the fantastic beaches of ayr and troon and close to Glasgow and Loch lomond for other days out.
So good we have already booked for next year

Surprise birthday weekend for our daughter
We had a lovely surprise weekend break at Chaff house for my daughter’s 14th birthday, we loved every moment of the weekend. From the snow, hot tub, horses for my horse obsessed daughter, farm tour, the little welcome party from the dogs to us and our dog.
My 10 year old son loved the chill out hay space for gaming in peace, we got to see a glimpse of the Milky Way on our last night when the night was clearer.
We hiked from the back of the farm through to the windfarm through the forest which our dog absolutely loved.
The welcome hamper and processo was a lovely bonus. The hot tub was used in the morning, afternoon and evening with the kids making sure they made the most of the little luxury.
Angela and her family were lovely hosts all weekend, with a lovely farm tour, riding lesson and some fun watching horses coming in to the sheds on a night.
My daughter is already planning her return visit!

Perfect Location & Facilities for a Short Break
If desiring a quiet relaxing weekend* break, this is the perfect location with perfect facilities.
The welcome from the host neighbours is personalised and that personal touch as well as the superior quality of the welcome pack, exceeds all expectations.
Their attention to detail is superb, and willingness to accommodate even the most basic ask is what makes this a wonderful base for a break in East Ayrshire.
(* …other lengths of stay are available!)

Fantastic stay and so relaxing
We have just returned from our third visit here and we will be back. Accommodation is perfect and the hot tub is fantastic. Angela and her family are so lovely and helpful and nothing is too much of a problem. Lovely seeing the horses, donkeys, goats, peacocks, chickens and bunnies and last time i did the "meet the animals" experience which was great finding out about all of them. Thoroughly recommend a stay here for peace and quite but you are not too far away from bigger towns if that`s what you like to do.

Stayed in Chaff house for 1 week stay & had a great time exploring Scotland so many different places to visit from the doorstep.
The house was very clean & tidy & we were met with the best welcome hamper ever, with loads of treats & fresh eggs & a nice cold bottle of prosecco in the fridge.
The hot tub was lovely & relaxing after a day of exporing & loved sitting out on a night seeing the stars & even had a glimpse of the milkyway one night. Angela was the perfect host & works very hard to make sure your stay is a memorable one...Thanks again to Angela & family & also for the parting gift until next time keep doing what your doing x
