Lost Rafters ride.. cheap plastic tat.

I've had the Lost Rafters funfair ride running now for about 5-6 weeks total since I bought it on November 2024, running for no more than 12-14 hours a day. The rest of the year it's been in its box in the loft.

As appears to be especially common online, the rides motor has now died presumably because this is cheap plastic tat (sold at a high price though), with poor quality components, and Lemax just doesn't care about quality any more.

At one time, Lemax was seen as the more quality alternative to the cheap stuff you find elsewhere, and this somewhat justified the price. Apparently those days are LONG gone.

So, I'm left with an expensive broken ride that I've now got to try and fix myself. Lucky there are others, many of them, who have the same problem and have produced YouTube videos on how to do this. Just waiting for the new motor to come now. But, I shouldn't have to be doing this after only 6 weeks of 12-14 hour usage, and because it's now 13 months after purchase I have no legal return/refund options either.

I think I'm dropping Lemax from next year. If I'm getting cheap plastic tat with poor quality components, I'd rather pay cheap prices too and know what I'm getting.

2025 Bluetooth Christmas Tree

Bought the 2025 Bluetooth Christmas Tree. Super bad quality workmanship. There were loads of strings of hot glue all over it from where they had stuck the baubles on some of the baubles had white damage marks on and few of the baubles were loose and some had fallen off. Looked like it had been put together by a child or someone who had never used a glue gun. Sent back straight away for a refund. This was my first and last purchase of a Lemax Christmas model. £99 pounds too.

Do not trust Lemax. Poorly run business

No longer trust the quality of this business and they don’t implement a customer service programme no more.

Purchased brand new item that doesn’t work and I have no rights.

Frustrating part is that they don’t care.

Company now to avoid .

Ignored this as well

Bought a Lemax North Pole mail room

Bought a Lemax North Pole mail room. Failed after one years use, plus a short while this December, which amounted to about 4 weeks with it on for a few hours in the evening. Out of warranty for return to shop though - which is a year. Lights work ok but the moving parts seem poorly put together and not made to last. Very poor considering the price. The base is sealed so it looks like you need to rip off the covering there to possibly gain access to the inside. After contacting Lemax they're response was:

After the first year you can try, or someone in your neighborhood who is a bit handy, to fix it.
The most items work with a PCBoard and a motor. It is a kind of Click system. And easy to replace.

We don’t have a repair department.

If you need spare parts to fix it, please let me know.
Therefor I need a picture from the spare part you need.

I know this shouldn't be the intention for a 2-year-old item, but this is what I can do for you.

Great, so basically try to fix it or tough. Maybe bother your handy neighbour.

These Lemax buildings look very festive and appear nice lit up but my advice would be never to buy one with moving parts. Go for the ones with the simple clip in bulb, that is easy and inexpensive to replace.

I wouldn't mind if the movement could be turned on separately from the lights, at least then I'd still have a nicely lit building, but if one goes it all goes.

LEMAX, a badly designed product that is poorly made. Not the best combination.

Merry Christmas all.

Absolutely shocking quality for the…

Absolutely shocking quality for the price, had to glue pieces back on all of them that had been snapped off when I opened them, I ordered a train and the carriage was totally snapped. I emailed Lemax and didn’t even receive a reply! Honestly wouldn’t waste your money on these

Great customer service

We've bought a few lemax pieces, including the jolly trolley train. Unfortunately we lost a piece of track, which was an end of track piece.
I contacted Lemax and they were very helpful and sent me a replacement out for free. Thank you Lemax.

An Absolute Ripoff

Decided to try to add to the Christmas Village collection I inherited from my mother that she displayed during my childhood, 30 years ago. I bought two brand new pieces from Lemax, spent all the time trying to set them up properly in my village, and not just one but BOTH of the items were faulty right out of the box. The ice skating rink sounded like the loudest bathroom fan you have ever heard. There is no way that somebody would display something that sounded like that! The string of gas lights were set up and they literally turned on, flickered, and went out within 15 seconds. We tried batteries. We tried a plug. We tried everything. Nope. 15 seconds of fun for something I paid over $20 for. I think it’s safe to say that much like every other greedy company in America, Lemax has let their product quality completely lapse while still charging an exorbitant amount for their pieces. I will be returning my items this weekend and going to invest my money in a company that actually cares about the consumers. The best part, when you go to “support” for help, this is what you’re met with:

“Lemax is not a direct-to-consumer retailer and does not carry inventory of most items but we may be able to help you with a replacement of the same or similar item…

**Please note: Lemax would consider merchandise purchased on clearance/closeout/display,"final sale" or from 3rd party vendors such as Amazon or Ebay, as “as is” merchandise. Lemax would not be able offer any additional recourse at this time.”

How are you going to say you aren’t a direct to consumer company, saying nobody can buy this cheap crap straight from them, and then in the very next paragraph tell you that if you DO purchase from a third party, you’re SOL? I am blown away at the incompetence and greed, truly.

Lemax company is a joke

I have purchased many items from the Spooky Village. Recently two items have stopped working. One was purchased a few months ago and the other was October 2023. They are expensive and Lemax will not replace them or fix them. I will file a charge back with my credit card company. Lemax customer service sucks.
Dont waste your money on them.

We bought our first Halloween piece…

We bought our first Halloween piece back in 2017 and bought 3 more, since. Out of the 3 plug in ones, only one still works. Also, the pieces, while beautiful, are way too fragile. No matter how careful I am with packing them back in their original boxes each year, I think every piece has something that has broken off, including our 4th piece, the train. It wouldn’t bother me so much if they weren’t so expensive, but for the amount of money, I would expect at least 10 years before they quit lighting up. The one plug in that still works is only on its 3rd Halloween and being seasonal decor, they aren’t used enough to burn out or have broken pieces. Disappointing to say, but I would recommend going with another company if you want to start your own haunted town tradition to last through the years. They just have not proven to be worth the higher price tag 🤷🏻‍♀️

Large Lemax Christmas items developed faults.

We have bought a lot of large Lemax Christmas items. Sadly more than half develop a fault very quickly. Either the music or the lights or the animation or a combination of all three stop working. Considering that they are only used for the weeks of Christmas, they are not used much yet are only guaranteed for a year. Their customer service only tell you to return to the store but they only stock these before Christmas so can't repair or replace them. Even some of the smaller characters break easily. The large items are expensive yet Lemax customer service is no help at all. Buy another brand.

Poor after sales

We bought the sky swing and it stopped working so we got in touch with Lemax and were told if we could find a handyman in our street to fix it you should do that, very poor after sales.

Generally poor quality

Generally poor quality. Bought many pieces brand new and I’ve had to send several back because of issues and damage straight out of the box. The quality is shocking, glue everywhere, bits falling off in the box, wonky bits here and there. Given the fact these pieces aren’t cheap and not exactly sophisticated pieces of technology, it shouldn’t be that hard to get basic functions to run reliably. Disappointing.

Costly Christmas buildings

Over the years we have bought many of the Christmas buildings to add to a Christmas window display for the people in the town to enjoy, each building costing anything from £90 to over £110. Last year and this year, 2021 there has been problems with the building working as they should. One costing £111 this year worked for 3 days then packed in. Where we purchased the items from only give 14day return policy, no good when we bought it in September and it stayed in the box until Christmas. I have contacted Lemax company regarding our faulty Christmas building, and wait a response.
