An early start from London, setting out to Ipswich to collect my new bike.
I must say the experience of Lings Ipswich was absolutely fantastic. From the initial enquiry about the bike from the online chat team (working couragiously through the night it seems answering my questions) to receiving a personalised video of the motorcycle once reserved. All of these nice touches keep you engaged and updated. Intially I spoke to Joshua with regards to the sale of the bike but unfortunately he was not here today to finalise the sale and pickup of the bike. I was greeted by a collegaue (sorry forgot your name) who made me feel welcome and a coffee, as I had an early morning start from London. I was served by Martin to complete the final paperwork which all went smoothly and he kept me updated about the bike and remaining manufacturers warranty and service history was addressed, along with purchasing the tax for the vehicle.
I felt at ease and in a confortable environment during this process (and I even got some additional petrol in the tank to get me back to London) - touch.
It was an absolute dream riding the CB500X back to London, just enough time to get used to the handling of what the bike will give me as my new communter mode of transport.
If anyone is thinking of purchasing a bike from these guys you'll be in safe hands.

Brought a new Honda forza , was made to believe that they would be getting it ready as there was one in the shop basically in wrap . Called a couple of weeks later to be told that wasn’t my bike , mine was still to be shipped from china !!! Took nearly 3 months before I got delivery , had I been told this from the start I’d have brought it from someone that had it in stock !!! It was sold to me by a visiting member of staff and I have to say that the staff that are usually at lings of Ipswich are normally very helpful , this is my second new bike purchase but after this royal xxxx up I think my next will come from elsewhere !!! Oh and no compensation offered what so ever ! You would think they would hold there hands up and offer a token ie gloves etc etc I’m not looking to rob anyone but come on guys sort it out
Had a great experience Leon was great to deal with communication was great also

Where do I start…
Bike was scheduled to be picked up on Friday the 24th June, as I have no transport and the train strikes reduced public transport, my friend had driven up from Exeter to Liverpool (260 miles) on the Wednesday, for us to drive down to Ipswich and stay over on the Thurday (263 miles), to then arrive early on the Friday at Lings, pick the bike up, and ride to Exeter (280 miles).
One of your salesman (SM), rang me on Thursday at lunch time, to inform me that they where waiting on front wheel bearings which would not arrive until the 29th of June, and that I couldn't ride the bike away the next day, SM assured me that there weren't any in the UK and the parts have to come from Germany. SM had been on leave for 4 days and hadn't passed the sale over to someone for them to look after if anything where to change to provide as much notice as possible, so after a lot of expletives from my side I told him I would sort this issue out and call back within the hour.
5 minutes and 3 phone calls later to local Motorrad Centres and the bearings are being overnight shipped to Lings which will arrive before 10.00hrs the next day. (Bravo Peterborough Motorrad🙏)
I called SM back to inform him of the news that I have now fixed this problem and saved his sale, to which he mumbled “okay”, no apology, no thanks a lot, NOTHING. This guys ego is just something else.
I arrive at the dealer on the Friday, and SM introduces himself to me, still no apology or thank you in sight, informs me workshop have the bike and it wont be too long, but they are fitting a new rear tyre to the bike, (which from the photos sent over, it needed anyway) to “soften the blow” because of the trouble they have caused, and because of this, they wont be willing to pay for the front bearings (which they deemed was necessary)
ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS!
2 hours go by and still no sign of the bike, finally it goes out for a test ride and to check the bearings.
The bike comes in and I wait for another hour. SM tells me they're going over it with a fine tooth comb because they know I have a long journey. (Stalling for time)
Its now 13:00 hours, ive been there 3 hours and still the absolute bare minimum of communication that I have to drag out of your salesman, I insist that I have a 6-7 hour ride ahead and I need to get on the road, the bikes is done so can we please arrange for it to be brought through? The other salesman says the mechanics are about bring it through now.
For the past 3 hours, as all of this is going on, SM and the Branch Manager have been speaking quietly and disappearing into the work shop, so I know something is the matter.
I walk around to the MOT viewing area, because at this point im completely fed up, fed up of waiting, fed up of being lied to.
As I walk in the bike is up on the service stand. SM, the mechanic and the other salesman are standing around it fiddling away, the other salesman notices me and says to SM under his breath, “dont look, the guy is stood behind you”
Now if nothing was happening why would he need to be discreet?
So finally I ask what the hell is going on? They mumble and squirm trying to tell me “nothing, everything's fine, buuuuut, there are some lights on the dash we cant get rid off, including the service light, traction control and ABS”
After looking through the manual, they realise the ABS and traction control light, (wait for it)
ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON!!!
but they cant get rid of the service light because it needs to go to a BMW approved service centre.
Shortly after the Branch manger offered me a triumph t-shirt as a “sorry” but I probably wouldnt want one because I now own a BMW, as if a bloody t-shirt is going to save their reputation.
Friday the 24th June was supposed to be a day to remember, the day I got my dream bike, but now it will always be tainted by the horrendous customer service I received from Lings, I wont just be “not recommending” Lings, I will be actively telling people to AVOID.

The staff were brilliant, the service was excellent, the bike arrived promptly and was in brilliant condition, freshly serviced and mot'd. They would have got 5 stars other than the fact they won't allow payments by credit card which meant I had to pay almost £500 extra in card fees to pay for the bike

I’ve purchased my last 2 Triumphs from Lings (Ipswich showroom). From the time you walk through the door the staff are very courteous and very knowledgable about the motorcycles and accessories they sell.
In all a great team at Lings, and another happy customer, 10 out of 10 from me :)

I bought a used Honda from Lings, this was the first time as a Lings customer and the first time buying on-line without visiting the dealership or viewing the bike. The whole process was very easy with great communication from Jake at Lings. I was provided with high-resolution photo’s and a walk#round video of the bike. All the documentation was handled over the internet and the bike was delivered to me within a couple of weeks of the first enquiry. I would definitely recommend Lings to anybody looking for a new or used bike.

My recent motorcycle purchase forms Lings in Ipswich was very pleasant, Marc was very helpful with a couple of issues. The video of the bike he sent me when I reserved it was a great thing to see. When I collected the bike they had a plaque with my name on and saying congratulations on my purchase and safe ride home. Exceptional service Thankyou Lings

Very good customer service with friendly staff. The one thing I didn't agree with and have never experienced before in over 30 years of buying bikes from dealers, is the £10 charge for insurance to test ride a bike. I found this a bit cheeky, especially when customers potentially spend thousands of pounds buying a bike from Lings, as I did.
