I had the most incredible experience at LIOP while taking the Professional Photography Course. I took the flexible course and completed the 10 modules at my own pace, which gave me the time and mental space to develop my ideas and grow as a photographer.

The quality of teaching is exceptional and especially generous—no hacks or tips are left unshared! I’m beyond grateful to Holger and the entire LIOP team for their support, guidance, and mentorship.

LIOP has given me so much more than just a course; it has been a personal transformation journey. Also, the school has a friendly and inspiring community of fellow photographers that supports you even after you finish the course. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to make a career out of photography.

The LIOP is an amazing course if you want to not just learn how to do photography, but also how to develop your own personal brand and unique style of photography so that you have the foundation, skills and voice you need to develop a distinct portfolio of work and start getting noticed in the professional market.

I did the Flexible Weekend PPC after doing a few of the courses on an ad hoc basis. I would recommend this for it’s flexibility to fit around your working life. It’s busy but is definitely doable if you don’t work weekends.

I’d also recommend doing the complete PPC, even if you have a particular interest in a certain type of photography or if you feel you won’t learn that much on the beginner’s course, for example. I assumed I wouldn’t learn that much on the beginner’s course, but I was completely wrong. Similarly, exploring genres and modules you might not at first have a natural affinity to can throw up some wonderful surprises, as well as tools to carry over into your particular area of interest or genre you want to go into. Each module feeds into each other, with ideas or lighting techniques, for example.

Holger, the course leader, is incredibly helpful and generous with his time, as well as being a great mentor. All the teachers are fantastic, knowledgeable and kind, as well as being practitioners themselves deeply involved in their respective fields. They are brilliant at pointing you in the direction of photographers past and present to inform your own tastes and general understanding.

I was not looking forward to the course ending, but one of the great things about the PPC too is you never really leave the LIOP after you finish the course. Holger leaves the door open for any advice you may need in future, and you’ll be a part of a community of photographers who have done the course for as long as you want to be.

I couldn’t recommend the LIOP more highly and it’s been a really wonderful experience overall.

I just finished the 3-month full-time Professional Photography course at the London Institute of Photography, and it was honestly an amazing experience. The teachers were super talented, patient, and always encouraging. The course itself was really well-structured, covering both the technical and creative sides of photography. If you're looking to level up your skills in a super supportive and inspiring environment, I’d totally recommend it!

Over my career I have attended many training courses, but none have been as memorable or potentially transformative as this last week. The relaxed but supportive atmosphere together with opportunities to appreciate the work of the other students was really great.
More than that the course opened my eyes to the potential for amazing shots in the apparently mundane. I don’t think I would ever have seen the beauty in a peeling wall of paint! It has taught me to look at the world in a different, more creative way.

Amazing experience!

I did the Professional Photography course at LIoP and it’s honestly the best course i’ve ever done (and i’ve done many).
The teachers are all professionals in their field and you can tell that they are really passionate and knowledgeable about what they teach you.
The group sizes are great because you get to know everyone well and it feel like you’ve created a little extra family by the end of the course.
Also very happy with the hours and the location.
Definitely recommend! 11/10!!

I did the full time 10 week Professional Photography Course and would do it again in a heartbeat. I would recommend it to both beginners and those with some experience - there is a lot of information given, beneficial to everyone. Holger is the soul of the school, and adds a caring quality that other schools would be pressed to find.

I did the beginner’s photography course at LIoP and couldn’t be happier with the experience.
The curriculum was super relevant and we had plenty of opportunity to apply and practice what we’d learned using our own cameras as we went along. Our instructor Holger was amazingly knowledgeable and helpful, and made sure there was something to take away for everyone regardless of prior experience and skills.
Admin staff were very accommodating when I needed to rebook my dates due to unforeseen circumstances which I really appreciate.
Altogether I had a lot of fun and learned so much from this course, I will definitely be coming back for the intermediate level. Can’t recommend enough!

I enrolled on the Professional Photography course (PPC) at LIoP earlier in 2024, having already completed a few of the individual courses. I chose to take the flexible course option which allowed me to complete the modules at times convenient for myself - a good decision given I have a few existing family obligations and responsibilities ongoing.

I can honestly say that this is one of the best things I’ve ever done. I took redundancy from my long-standing IT job in July and was thinking of doing some photography to keep some cash flowing. Soon after enrolling, it quickly became apparent that photography was going to be my new career. The course has been designed in a very hands on and ‘in-person’ style (as opposed to on-line tuition). Modules are taught at the LIoP offices and are a healthy mixture of theory/knowledge acquisition and practical fieldwork. It is this latter aspect that really turns you into a photographer. You get to work like a pro photographer in a real environment - studios with real models and state of the art lighting. The quality of pictures achieved are incredible and can be used to contribute to your own personal portfolio. You also have the opportunity to choose a personal project in a genre of photography that you want to pursue. This culminates in a portfolio of your best work - believe me, this is something you’ll be so proud of. It will help get you work and show off your skills beautifully.

Also part of the course is regular mentoring sessions with Holger Potter (Director of LIoP) - these keep you on track and help you iron out any difficulties you may be experiencing. The information provide in these sessions is invaluable, a result of Holger and his team being real experts in their field. They’re a wonderful, friendly bunch and will do all they can to help you achieve your aims and ambitions.

If you really are serious about photography, give the PPC a go - it really is the best course out there.

I did the flexible PPC program, and I can honestly say this is one of the best decisions I've made.

I walked into the program with so much anxiety and imposter syndrome holding a camera. It's amazing that after just 7 months, I feel a confidence not only in my technical skills, but also in understanding my unique style. Every instructor was extremely talented and is a working professional in the field, so you can trust that you'll get current perspectives on how to succeed in photography. Holger's mentorship is an outstanding feature of the program–he truly wants you to succeed and takes the time to understand your unique goals and opportunities. Not to mention that I've met many likeminded people who I'm glad to call friends, and who I continue to shoot alongside.

I had so much fun pushing my creative limits in the program, and can't wait to build on the incredible foundation I gained taking the PPC. You won't regret signing up!

I took the full time PPC course across 10 weeks which was absolutely fantastic. The teachers were excellent and it was the perfect stepping stone in building my confidence to go out and hit the photography market. Whilst the course was stressful at times due to the nature of its intensity I now feel ready for anything thrown my way. Holger the director was a massive help throughout the process with mentoring sessions spaces throughout the duration of the course made the whole experience feel very intimate. LIoP is the most value for money course I think I will ever do.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take the Professional Photography Course at LIoP—it was truly life-changing. I enrolled in the course to advance my career in social media as an in-house content creator, focusing specifically on product photography, portraits, and documentary work. However, it was fantastic to explore various types of photography, which helped me discover new personal interests and creative passions.

The teachers were outstanding, each specialising in their respective genres of photography. Their expertise and passion were incredibly inspiring, and their diverse teaching styles made the course both practical and accessible. A special shoutout to Holger—an absolute legend! He is not only exceptionally knowledgeable but also goes above and beyond to support and inspire students.

The course blended hands-on practice with insightful presentations, catering to all learning styles. Our group of core PPC students became like a supportive photography family, making the experience even more enjoyable and rewarding.

I would take this course again in a heartbeat.

Recently did the Beginners Photography course at London Institute of Photography. I was a little nervous before I attended the course thinking i'd have been out of my depth. I needn't have worried, Holger is a fabulous teacher who is clearly interested in encouraging the students to get the most out of their cameras. We went through the different aspects of using and controlling the camera and put the theory into practice. If you're interested in learning how to use your camera properly, i'd thoroughly recommend this course. I'm certainly looking to book on to some further courses to expand my knowledge.

My time at LIoP was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed each module and the guidance received for our personal project.

What really sealed the deal for me was the flexibility. I had looked at lots of options around Europe, but Holger and Misao were super nice and helped me find the best way to follow the Professional Photography Course over 9 months, partly online from the Netherlands, and partly in person at the school.

Another really important factor at LIoP is the community. Now, whenever I have a question or doubt, I have a network of great photographers to reach out to.

I have to admit that I was quite sad when I finished the course, I wish I could have kept going for a little while longer. Really looking forward to any additional modules that the team will launch in the future.

I recently completed a Photography Careers Course, and I must say, it was an incredibly informative experience. As someone who started with little to no knowledge of professional photography, this course provided me with all the valuable information I needed to get started. The lessons were well-structured, offering practical advice on everything from various photography genres to branding, building a portfolio, and marketing yourself as a photographer. Thank you!:)

LIoP's Complete Foundation Course is well-organised and varied, perfect for both beginners and those with a little experience. I came away with a solid understanding of photography, full of inspiration and ideas for further growth. Holger is an excellent and inspiring teacher who manages to include everyone. His examples often relate to food and cooking, so — Michelin style — I can honestly say the course is worth a journey, even for someone coming from Copenhagen.

I recently completed the foundation course and it was excellent. Holger is such a brilliant teacher and after 4 days, my confidence with the camera and overall photography has grown immensely. Thanks for a top course.

I have signed up for the the Complete Foundation Photography course without any idea of how to use a camera but with a desire to learn more about photography, and make it my hobby. The course was extremely thorough, hands-on with various assignments and very well delivered by Holger (our teacher). I liked that there were only a few students on the course which allowed Holger to provide individual support and feedback on our work. I am now extremely inspired and feeling more confident about using a camera. I have now booked in for another 2 courses with LIoP!

The beginners course was incredibly thorough and well taught and I learned a huge amount. Holger was an excellent teacher and the small class size meant that we all got one to one help on the practical aspects of the course. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to get into photography!

I enrolled with a brand new camera and no experience of photography outside of an iPhone.
The two courses, with the fabulous Caterina at the helm, have given me so much more confidence and understanding of photography and of my camera. I am looking forward to taking further courses in the very near future.
