I have heard LIoP a number of times from people in the creative industry, and finally, I took the Complete Foundation Photography Course to gain a strong foundation.
First, the tutor, Holger, is a recognised professor who truly cares about us students and makes details understood easily with demonstrations and case studies. In this course, I learnt how to properly use DSLR and mirrorless cameras and find concepts to create photography that tells stories and essential Adobe Lightroom. And was inspired by the example of legendary photographers and artists that made my studies exciting. Moreover, the lunchtime assignments and homework encouraged us to be productive!
This is a brilliant institution and highly recommended, and I can't wait to take more courses!

I can't recommend LIOP's Professional Photography Course enough! I studied the flexible option so I could work as well as study. The course pushes you and covers a lot. In a relatively short space of time they took me from not being able to take a shot in focus to shooting fashion and portrait photographs in studio environments. The best thing about the course is the incredible teachers, who are so knowledgeable, generous with their time and make you feel incredibly supported as well as being really inspiring photographers themselves. The school creates a really supportive learning environment and I loved meeting so many students too. I loved it! Wish there was a PPC 2 to progress to!

The course overall was an amazing experience. Teachers have been in the field for a long time and definitely know what they're talking about. Every teacher helps you every step of the way if you need it.
If you have been thinking about taking this course, this is your sign to absolutely go for it!

Best experience I’ve ever had & best teachers

One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life was attending LIOP to study the professional photography course.

I started out as a complete beginner and after only 10 weeks I can confidently say I’m ready to work as a professional.

Holger Pooten and his team of highly qualified professionals taught with such passion and care that I was able to grow in a way I never imagined possible. With high attention to every detail and catering to each student and their personal style, there was a sense of freedom and encouragement I have not experienced at any other institution I’ve studied in. I walk away with not only great knowledge, a portfolio I’m proud of but also a family I’ve been welcomed into.

I attended the PPC (Professional Photography Course) over the course of 9 months using the 'Flex' option. I could not rate this course highly enough. This course is so much more than just a course about the technical aspects of photography. While those aspects are comprehensively covered, this course is designed to set you up for a professional career in photography.

All tutors are all professionals in the industry with great experience in a variety of specialisations. Great teachers that pay great attention to your progress and that you are learning and improving as a photographer with constant feedback (constructive and positive).

The mentoring sessions are an added bonus and really helped develop my personal style and provided me with the right direction needed to improve. Be prepared to be challenged (in the right way) and to really push yourself on this course. You will really discover your personal style and be provided with the direction needed to apply that style to the industry and ultimately make a living from your passion.

Completing the PPC at LIoP in ten weeks has for me been an amazing journey. It has provided me with the tools and skills to move on as a photographer and has made me believe in my abilities to establish myself in the world of photography.

The course is a mix of day and evening classes covering different types of photography. The photography modules (daytime) consists of a good mix of theory and shooting in practice. The evening classes are more sort of supportive subjects, but they are very valuable and provide essential knowledge and skills for a photographer.

The 10 weeks' PPC is a demanding course and to gain the full benefits from it, you must be able to invest quite a lot of time. There will be weekly assignments, homework, and the personal project that should lead to your portfolio. Thus, there is much to do in addition to the classes and ideally you should be able to dedicate most of your time during the 10 weeks to the course. Then it really pays.

Training at the LIoP has been an amazing experience. I have attended different classes and all the tutors are incredible knowledgable and full of expertises. The classes are engaging, theoretical and practical at the same times. I went to the introduction class without knowing much about my camera and now I have become a confident photographer :)

I signed up to the beginner's course out of personal interest, hoping to learn how to make the most of my camera and improve my shots. Everything surpassed my expectations and so I signed up for the follow-on intermediate course, too. Both were excellent! Our tutors were thorough, patient and kind. They struck a perfect balance between theory and practice: clear and colourful explanations and presentations, with beautiful shots that illustrated the point and then fun but focused hands-on assignments in great locations, for us to put into practice what we'd discussed, with their expert guidance always close at hand. I will be back!

Good insight into the world of fashion photography at both a business and photography viewpoint. The final day is spent in a studio with a model and stylist which is very rewarding.

My wife and I booked onto the Beginner's Photography Course and were thrilled with the the entire experience. Firstly, the booking and info provided about the day was clear and useful. Then, the course itself really was excellent from start to finish and suitable for someone with no experience or someone who has had some practice but wants to touch up their knowledge. We learned, and put into practice, not just the basic elements of photography but also how to manage our cameras, take better photos and some great tips to practice and improve our abilities. Holger was a great and patient teacher and we are super keen to continue on with more advanced courses. Look forward to continuing our experience with LIoP!

I've done a few photography classes before but this is the first time that everything really fell into place, made sense, and most importantly the information stuck with me. Holger really takes the time to explain in detail each part of the photography process and uses real world examples and analogies to make sure you're following along every step of the way, not bogged down with technical jargon as some courses can be. His knowledge and experience are really incredible. Plenty of opportunities to go and try out your new found skills during the course - Great value for money - I highly recommend!

I took the four day portrait photography course. It was exactly what I was looking for with lots of practical, hands-on experience all under the guidance of Aldo, who is a terrific teacher. I can't recommend him and the school enough.

I recently completed the Complete Foundation course, an amazing experience full of information all within a relaxed environment. I would 100% recommend and look forward to taking more courses with LIoP and Holger in the near future.

I took a two day beginners class with Caterina as instructor. Great experience! She is an excellent teacher and the course finds a perfect balance between theory and practical training. Also very pleasant selection of master examples :-) I am a much better and confident photographer after these two days. And the c Truman brewery is perfectly located for practising the new skills in a colourful and lively environment. I will be back for the next course when time allows.

I found the course extremely helpful and comprehensive Holger was very patient and understanding when I asked questions and needed him to go back over an element of the course. The offer of being available at any point post course for help and advice on the course content and other photographic matters was reassuring and helpful. I look forward to taking the Photoshop course in due course.

I did the complete foundation course at LIOP and loved it. I learnt so much and Holger was the perfect tutor. As well as being a successful photographer, he is clearly passionate about teaching and we all learnt so much from him. We left feeling inspired to continue and with a clear understanding of the important principles of photography. I can’t wait to go back and learn more on some of the other courses.

I recently completed the excellent four-day Complete Foundation Photography course with Holger. I learned a lot and was impressed by how much information, practice and feedback we were given in the space of four days.

I'll be using the feedback given to improve my skills and, in time, sign up for the Professional Photography Course at LIoP.

Time and money well spent and I highly recommend.

I have been on three courses at LIoP and I have immensely enjoyed and benefitted from them. I bought a camera in 2017 but didn't really try to use it until this year: I entered the Beginner and Foundation courses without any prior experience and left being able to use my camera confidently. The Street/Documentary Course also pushed me to build on what I had learnt and also develop a sense of my own style. In particular, there is an excellent blend of technical skills taught alongside art history, with each module accompanied by presentations exhibiting work from established photographers, meaning that you also get an education in some of the main practitioners of the craft. I look forward to taking more classes there. I would highly recommend it.

I definitely want to continue studying with you in the new Year, once I have practised some of what I have learnt a bit more!
