Bought our first Mini from Lloyds Lindale branch and got 5 star service from start to finish from Ash. We can't praise him enough for his professionalism and knowledge of the car we wanted to buy. Purchased a Discovery Sport in December…
Purchased a Discovery Sport in December 2024, approved vehicle, a few quid light of £26k. To be fair that transaction was good, but having enquired about another vehicle today (May 2025), I realise that I must have paid way over the odds for it! Offered £17.5k today against a Range Rover approved vehicle. Scandalous in my opinion and needless to say, I'm off elsewhere to look!

I have had to take my old discovery sport into Lloyds of Carlisle twice recently, one for a recall, other was a part replacement under warranty. Both times the staff couldn’t have been more helpful if they had tried, a first class, gold standard experience both times. Nothing was any problem, car cleaned on pick up and a beautiful courtesy car supplied. Treated me like I was just about to spend 100k with them. Will definitely be back for my next car.

Excellent, honest service
I picked up a Hyundai Tuscon from Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle and the service was excellent! Peter Reid made it a great experience by offering an honest review of the car before I decided to travel 230 miles to collect it and there was no pressure to buy the car or add ons. Peter had clearly researched the car to be able to advise me on the features even though it wasn’t a Land Rover.
I have already recommended Lloyd to friends and family!

I bought a Ford Ranger from them and had problems from day one — engine light was constantly on. After it failed an MOT at Halfords, they told me to bring it in and then somehow passed it themselves a week later with no repairs done — very suspicious. They promised to order a part for me after Christmas 2024, but when I called to arrange it, they pretended they didn’t know what I was talking about.
Fast forward to May 2025, and the drive shaft SNAPPED while driving over a roundabout with my family in the car. The AA said we were lucky not to be hurt.
Totally unsafe, dishonest, and not to be trusted. Selling dangerous cars and brushing off their responsibilities — this could’ve ended in a serious accident.
** UDPDATE ON THEIR REPLY**. Whilst they say I bought it 18 months ago as if to say it was out of warranty. I had issues with it from day 1. Engine light on all the time, humming inside the vehicle and the smell of fumes. They were well aware of my issues well before.

Deposit Return Problem
I am writing to express my disappointment with Lloyd’s Landrover Group Ripon. On Saturday26th April I saw a 3 year old low mileage Range Rover evoque advertised as an approved vehicle with low mileage. The price appeared rather low, but the photographs on the site made it look like a very good deal. I immediately phoned the garage and spoke to a salesman who said they had had a lot of interest in the vehicle (unsurprisingl) but it had not sold yet. I am a cash buyer with no pix and so at his request I immediately paid a deposit of £500 and agreed to set off immediately to the garage as he could only see me at 2pm. Around 40 minutes later he phoned me to say the car was no longer for sale as it had a fault and would have to go to auction. I was given the option of a refund or I could continue on my journey to look at other cars (all comparable vehicles being several thousand pounds more expensive etc)
This struck me as potentially a criminal Bait and Switch attempt, or to be fair to them could also have been a mistake. I asked for my money back but was told this could not be actioned until 28th(Monday)
On 28th, still annoyed I phoned the Sales Manager who would not acknowledge any fault on their part, ie it was common practice to advertise cars as Approved before any checks carried out, and rather surprisingly said the price had been that of a car likely to go to auction, so in effect they would not have sold it at that price as Approved
Giving them the benefit of the doubt it was probably a mistake by them, rather than a bait and switch, but I would have expected an acknowledgement of this rather than I am the first ever person to complain about their sales tactics. Anyway he said the refund would take a couple of days but should show in my account that day as pending
However guess what, 4 working days later no sign of a refund, pending or otherwise
Therefore I would advise exercising caution before giving them any sort of sizeable deposit for anything.

Absolutely Appalling Experience – Avoid Lloyd BMW Blackpool and the BMW Approved Used Scheme
If you’re considering buying an Approved Used BMW from Lloyd BMW Blackpool — or anywhere under the BMW Approved Used program — think twice.
I purchased a BMW M550i (registration: PL21 NLX) from Lloyd BMW Blackpool in December 2024, trusting the "Approved Used" badge as a guarantee of quality, safety, and rigorous inspection. What I received instead was a car sold in a dangerous and structurally compromised condition.
Just two months after purchasing the vehicle, I suffered a flat tyre — only to discover that all four alloys were cracked, with a total of six cracks across the wheels. Even worse, there was clear evidence of previous welding repairs on the alloys, something that should immediately fail any proper BMW Approved Used inspection.
When I raised this serious safety issue with Lloyd BMW Blackpool, I was completely dismissed. Despite providing clear photo and video evidence, the service manager, Callum West, ignored my emails and refused to take any responsibility. I was left to pay for repairs myself — repairs I should never have needed on a car sold under the BMW "Approved" banner.
Fast forward a few weeks: another cracked alloy, another flat tyre, more dangerous negligence. When pressed, a Lloyd BMW employee finally admitted that welded alloys would not pass an Approved Used check — yet here I was, sold a car with multiple welds hidden beneath refurbished finishes.
Instead of owning up, Lloyd BMW Blackpool decided to insult my integrity by falsely accusing me of having the wheels welded myself — an utterly outrageous and desperate attempt to shift blame.
This is not just poor service — it’s gross negligence. I drive my children in this car. Had one of these cracked and previously welded alloys failed at motorway speeds, the consequences could have been fatal.
BMW's supposed "Approved Used" standards are clearly a marketing lie, and Lloyd BMW Blackpool has shown zero accountability, professionalism, or concern for customer safety.
I have since escalated this issue to the Motor Ombudsman and will continue to share my experience widely to prevent others from falling victim to this reckless and disgraceful behavior.
If you value your safety, your family’s safety, and your hard-earned money, avoid Lloyd BMW Blackpool — and approach BMW’s Approved Used scheme with extreme caution.

Don't buy a used car from Lloyd Land Rover Kelso
Never buy a used car from Lloyd Land Rover Kelso. You think that you are buying a premium brand with premium care. That it's worth paying extra for an approved Range Rover from the approved local Range Rover dealer. Right? Wrong. You are wasting your money.
The greatest con, not specific to Land Rover, is the separation of the sales and warranty companies. First you must approve assessment of the fault - only then can we tell you if it is covered by the warranty and when the warranty company rejects the warranty claim (which they will do every time) you need to pay £170 an hour. It's not our fault, honestly.
In less than 18 months on 20 plate Range Rover Sport purchased in 2023.
1) Air filter blocked 6,000 miles after purchase - NOT covered - £340 (the same problem has occurred 3 times putting the car into limp mode requiring a garage reset - a local garage, not Lloyds, confirms that there is nothing wrong with the filter, probably a sensor - makes me question if the first instance needed fixing at all)
2) Air-con broken - NOT covered - corrosion - quote £1,000+ - Corrosion 9 moths after purchase on a 4 year old luxury car NOT covered
3) heated seat not working - Lloyd initially fixed it under warranty, but one month later its not working again - quote to see what the problem is £500 - NOT covered - warranty does not cover lose wiring - surely the coincidence of the same seat not working could not have escaped them and that one may have led to the other.
4) side steps not working - NOT covered - this is new one - apparently the Lloyd approved car with the Range Rover approved fitted side steps does not cover side steps as they were not added at the time of purchase by the original car owner.
I have other faults that I can not be bothered with asking anymore (tow bar connection not extending, I guess I will get the same answer as the side steps)
You will be better off buying a car at a much reduced price from a private sale for all the good buying and approved Range Rover for Lloyd Land Rover Kelso.
I would have given one star, but the staff are friendly when they say NO.

Working with Lloyds Select on your next car is a no brainer. I discovered them through auto trader and found a vehicle at a really brilliant price. I enquired and Barry was quick to respond. I think that Barry represents all of the qualities of an honest and genuine car salesman. He answered every single question for me, gave me all of the details and background history of the car and was so helpful in advising me on the car purchase. There was no point of pressure or expectation and we built a really great rapport and relationship.
Communication is really key for me as a customer especially on an important purchase. Whenever Barry wasn't in the office, one of the "Three Musketeers" - Paul or Chris were on hand to help and continue the service.
I travelled from London to collect this vehicle not only because the car was a great deal but because Barry built a relationship and investment into him and the dealership for me that I could trust.

Horrendous customer service
Unfortunately since Lloyds has bought out Ray Rigg motors on White Lund Morecambe, i would never purchase a Kia ever again. Lloyds is just a huge corporate company with no personal customer service, you are just a number. They have moved the business to Levens which is a big inconvenience. When your vehicle is under warranty and a fault appears, they can't get you in for weeks and weeks, infact months. I've had many Kia cars but the one I have now is the very last as Lloyds is useless. When we purchased the vehicle 2 yrs ago the spare wheel or car mats were not in the car and we didn't receive them until weeks afterwards. No personal touch any more, dreadful company, when I contacted them to say my car needed looking at asap as I had concerns I was told there wasn't any availability until 2 months afterwards and I could take my car in and just leave it incase they managed to look at it but I couldn't have a courtesy car, how on earth can you leave your car and then get home from Levens to Morecambe. These people need to engage brain first.
