2 knives sharpened expertly and in the time promised.

I was very pleased to find a knife-sharpening service so close by, and Local Root did an excellent job, and did it quickly.

Knives sharpened with quick (48 hr.) turnaround. A little pricier than my previous place, but not unreasonable.

Had 5 good quality knives sharpened there- they did an excellent job- the knives are like new.
The store is a treasure trove- a wonderful place to find some really wonderful quality kitchen items. Will be back

Awesome to have my old knives working great again. They look great and they cut better than when they were new.

So glad to have Local Root in Belmont now- Parking is so much easier.

Turnaround time on knife sharpening is fairly quick, and my long overdue knives are in great shape once again.

took a vintage chef knife to be reshaped. They did a nice job and the price was reasonable tho the person told me he wouldn't do one for that price again. Other friends have also been happy with the knife work.

Without hesitation I will have my knives sharpened here again.

The service was excellent. They explained perfectly the difference between different services and how they are done. I was able to select the right one for my Japanise style knife. Sharpening was done in two days and I got my sharp knife back in a nice packet.

Knives are very sharp! Good, prompt service for a reasonable price.

I brought a few knives to Local Root to be sharpened , one of which had a broken tip ( my Sabatier ! ) . When I dropped them off ( at the Newton location ) , I pointed out the tip to the young woman and wondered what , if anything could be done to save the knife , if only for sentimental reasons ( see above ) . She ( forget her name , sorry ! ) promptly took a picture , sent it to the sharpener ( John ? ) and asked me to wait for his response so that I would know what could be expected . Within a minute he had answered saying that he could make it so that it was a smaller version of what it had been . And sure enough when I returned in a few days to pick it up , it was exactly as he had said ! My Sabatier was saved ! I also appreciated the honest response given when I asked how often a knife should be sharpened ( expecting perhaps an exaggerated amount ) ; I was told , " Oh maybe a couple of times a year , or if you maintain it by steeling it every time you use it , maybe just once . " And at $15 a knife , that's a low cost for such maintenance . Plus they stock varied an quality kitchen tools - I got a great hard rubber spatula that is heat resistant , great for using in a frying pan ( omelettes come out great ! ) . I'll definitely be back and I highly recommend it to others .

The staff is extremely knowledgeable, the selection is broad and high quality and shopping is a pleasure. Knife sharpening service is excellent with a two day turnaround. I recommend First Root highly!
