My son was totally ripped off for car…
My son was totally ripped off by Locauto Bari car rental in June 2026! Rental car had small bulge in tyre (which was unnoticed on rental when rest of vehicle was checked out/photos taken of paintwork etc)so they rang Bari Locauto & was advised to return car & get another vehicle which they did so. Then on return day of second rental car were charged 400 plus euros!! Cheaper to have just changed the tyre but as this was against hire contract the car was returned for replacement vehicle as advised to do by staff. There should not have been any extra charges. Be aware of this terrible company!!

Rented a vehicle for three months at a competitive price. Vehicle was great. Pick up and drop off from Bari Centrale Railway Station was extremely quick and straightforward and Daniele and the staff were great. Have used Locauto before and would use them again.

I received great service; I booked the car in advance with full insurance. I was given a clean car in excellent mechanical condition. Pickup and drop-off were quick. I had no incidents.

Quick service. Pleasant and clean car. Discussion insurance. Full inclusive package does not include own risk in case of theft. One cannot call this full package.

Regarding your comment about the insurance, we understand how the term "full package" can lead to confusion when an excess still applies. We would like to clarify that in the car rental industry, insurance coverage is strictly tied to regional risk assessments.To balance this risk, the theft excess (own risk) cannot be completely removed, but it is halved (reduced by 50%) to offer the maximum protection possible under local regulations.
We always strive for transparency, and we appreciate your input as it helps us improve how we communicate these regional insurance limitations to our guests. We hope to welcome you back soon for an even better experience.

Better than at the airport
We made a good call of not taking the rental at the airport. The queues there were huge. Instead we rode to the central train station in Bari and took the car there. No queue at all, attentive staff, fast processing.
There isn't really a nice pickup point - they drive the car to you and stop on a street (with traffic) about 100m away from the office (so if any disputes at pickup had occurred, it would have been a bit weird).
The return is self-service and even further from the office (about a 8min walk from train station) - by parking the car in the parking lot, and dropping the key in a box. I had a hard time finding the box though as they are multiple staircases that lead outside and only one of them reaches the parking lot office with the box (doing that with the baggages and in the heat wasn't super nice experience).
But overall it was positive - the car was fine, processing was fine.
