The conveyancing process went mostly fine; however, the completion statement was provided at almost the last minute, 2 days before legal completion. This gave very little time in case anything with the bank transfer went wrong, which was almost the case. I initiated the transfer with my bank on Monday evening. Nationwide's timescales mentioned "those requested after 3pm will arrive the next working day", so it should have arrived on Tuesday. It did not and that caused a lot of stress. Wednesday morning the funds were still not received, and I rushed to the bank to find out what was going on. Miraculously, the funds showed up shortly after.
Being provided the statement at such short notice was very risky and could have led to bigger problems if the funds didn't show up in time for completion day.
I have not been satisfied with some of Nikisha's responses, as at times they felt scripted and robotic. For example, when I said I sent the funds via CHAPS and mentioned as per Nationwide it should have been available the next working day, I was simply asked "is it a same day transfer" over and over again. Additionally, the email responses to some of my queries felt vague.
I had also informed the legal team of a Microsoft security warning that showed when I tried to open the link to the portal that is used for sharing legal documents but got no response.
I would highly advise Alexander JLO to work on improving their service to clients and ensure the completion statement is provided well in advance to avoid delays due to whatever technical problems the banks are facing.

Poor took them six months to complete. They are SLOW and rude , will not contact you. Peter Johnson will be all over the reviews, for damage limitation. Because he says please contact me if you have any questions, but will never get back to you , unless you write a poor review. Unprofessional company

Disappointing experience as a first time, shared ownership buyer - once the transaction has been completed, they completely disappeared. I followed up with the solicitor who was managing my purchase multiple times without receiving any replies, as she failed to discover that there are outstanding charges on the flat that I purchased which even after 5 years I'm still fighting the housing accociation on. I emailed her multiple times, then tried to call the office thinking maybe she left the business, but the receptionist confirmed she still works there and she will follow up with me - never happened. I even emailed the owner, received no reply. They will do the absolute bare minimum and complete your purchase but don't expect anything else.

Unhappy with the services provided by members of a team of Alexander JLO London during our mortgage process . If there was 1/2 star , I would have given them.

I just want to thank the legal team for all their support in purchasing my first property! I was honestly very pleasantly surprised by the rapid and honest responses. They are also very responsible and did not allow for the completion to take place without all the correct documentation submitted by the seller. I would definitely use their services again! THANK YOU!

We were probably not the easiest clients as they came with pushy recommendation from the developer we were buying from, and while it wasn't a deal breaker, in the beginning we were questioning everything multiple times. However, Ash and his team impressed us. They handled everything with professionalism, gave us thorough advice, and ensured all our concerns were addressed. They requested additional documentation from the developer, pulled some strings to run searches prior to completion to provide us with reassurance, and explained each step of the process clearly.
On their side, everything was completed with extraordinary speed and efficiency—we quickly understood why the developer works with them. Contrary to the common horror stories of delays in property purchases, our experience was smooth and far quicker than expected once documentation was provided from the developer. Overall, we were glad we had their support throughout the process.

We chose this firm because they were the named "panel" solicitors on a new build development, feeling that they would have everything at their fingertips, assuming they would have multiple purchasing clients for this site. We also chose them for selling our old house to make transfer of money simpler on completion. Their fee was reasonable and they are very courteous and nice people, but a bit "whizz-bang" for people of our age (70s/80s), everything being done by email - blizzards of emails!
We soon wished we had gone to our old local solicitor where we could have dropped in as and when necessary to have things explained to us and use a quill pen to sign documents, as opposed to "electronic signatures", surely an oxymoron. In the end, we drove to their Dockland office where the documents were laid out on a conference table and we did it the old fashioned way. There was even a convenient disabled parking bay near their front door! We wish them well.

I wanted to leave a review as I am happy post completion and the fees were really good value.
Mary did Conveyancing for me and was very professional whilst dealing with a difficult sellers solicitor. She is extremely knowledgeable about leaseholds which helped me.
I found it hard to get in contact on the phone especially on a Friday but my emails got responded to, so for the price feels fair.
I also spoke to Peter after becoming annoyed with the slow speed. His response was fair and it was true that delays were on the seller side.
Overall I’m happy with the service I received and this firm is good value for money.

Please read this review before considering using this absolutely useless company. Our buyer used them to purchase our flat and it took from September 2024 until 21st March 2025, for them to finalise the transaction.
JLO prices may look cheap, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, in this case, extremely poor service. They kept asking the same questions from our Solicitors that had provided them with the answers way, way back in October last year. It was only after we sent a text to our buyer on 5th March telling him that his mortgage offer expired on 31st March, that things really started to move after months of nothing, then JLO kept asking the same things. Our solicitor said that dealing with JLO was like dealing with a call centre, there was always a different name on the email.
For months, since January, JLO said that they were issuing the Legal Report to our buyer, but it arrived on the day we were due to exchange (14th March), we were disgusted as were our solicitors. We finally completed today 21st March 2025, probably more by chance than anything else.
If anyone asked us should they use this company to purchase a Shared Ownership property, our answer would be a massive NO, don’t touch them with a barge pole.

I must express my deep disappointment with the service provided by Alexander JLO. I was initially assigned to a solicitor who was on holiday, leading to my dealing with multiple individuals within the firm. This resulted in conflicting advice due to her absence. When I informed them that my property sale was not going through, the response was, "We will close your file and send you an abortive bill on the work carried out," which felt cold and insensitive during such a challenging time. Additionally, the charge of over half the total legal fees at such an early stage of the process was excessive.
This handling of my case has been profoundly disappointing, and I would not recommend their services.
EDIT (after reply from senior partner) - What a frustrating response. Considerable work was NOT carried out. I paused it with the solicitor, and I’m not sure why I would complain to him, as I’ve only just heard of him. I complained to the solicitor I was assigned to, and I have the paper trail to prove this.
I’m aware the sale falling through wasn’t his fault, but I found their response insensitive, and surely sensitivity should be considered when making such a life-changing purchase.

I chose this company as I gathered they were efficient in conveyancing. I was wrong. What should have been a straight forward process turned into a farce. The appointed conveyancing solicitor stopped responding to e mails (would never take a phone call) then went off on holiday. The first locum solicitor wasn’t much better then the company cited they had personal problems and off they went. The 2nd locum faired a little better but the process was tedious (I might post another review to outline the problems). I did reach out to Peter, senior partner, but he could not seem to fathom or grasp what my issues were and asked non sensical questions.

EDIT: Funny how leaving a bad review seems to have concentrated some minds here and my emails are actually now receiving responses. It very much sounds like having a complaints procedure in place is seen as a substitute for providing an attentive service in the first place. I haven't called the office at the weekend before either so not sure what that's about. I wasn't getting anything back on weekdays so I'm hardly likely to bother at the weekend.
Thanks for the defensive response though!
I am now nearing completion and the only thing that has been holding it up, for weeks now, is this firm’s complete inability to respond to emails and calls. I have tried phoning every day for the past three days and each time have been fobbed with promises of a call back only to get nothing.
Throughout the process I have responded to correspondence with follow-up questions and sent over my own queries, but have got next to nothing back. On more than once occasion, one of the team has even forgotten to include correspondence she is referencing, in the odd email update they can be bothered to send, and then of course I get no response when asking what she is referring to. Extremely concerning from a firm that is handling something as important as a property sale.

Great service for a first time - shared ownership buyer. Everything ran smoothly and completed on time!

As a first time buyer I had a terrible experience with them, 0 transparency or communication throughout the process. My solicitor literally realized 2 days before contract signing that I'm buying 40% from a shared ownership, not 25%. After buying I thought at least I won't have to deal with them anymore but now the housing association is trying to make me pay for utility bills and service charges for a period I haven't even lived there yet and they are saying my solicitor should have sorted this out and include it in the contracts. It's been about a year that I'm keep following up with this solicitor to see if she made a mistake or if she can help correct it, not even a 1 reply to all my emails and calls. I even sent an email to the company itself to see if this woman still works there - no reply. Absolutely disgraceful and incompetent solicitor, avoid at all cost.
I had a positive experience. Luke, Priya, and Guzala were consistently available to address my questions and offer assistance. I highly recommend their services. The app they use for submitting KYC documents and conducting due diligence is efficient and greatly streamlined the process. Excellent job!

Very unprofessional service. Respond time is ok-ish, but they have the worst transparency that I have ever seen. They don’t care to explain how everything works despite I asked multiple times. I was not able to get professional advice and straight answers for ALL of my questions. I also had no clue of what was the next step of the conveyance. They always ignore my request and question. My interest is not protected at all. Now I’m about to be homeless because they don’t tell me anything about the next step. I’ll either lose the property to extend my current rental contract or risk waiting for completion to happen within a week
