I also want to add that I have wrote about the neighbour with the black car in Longridge Colchester.Well he has been causing me problems lately. For example, on the 24th of December 2024 knowing I was heading to Oxfam(as well as my toxic family knowing)decided to repeatedly voice ‘f you’ several times to cause me trouble.Next thing I know, I start acting out in out of the Oxfam shop of Colchester, begin to have a temperature of 35.8degrees feeling ill and weak and lose my head. My family have also been(Alison,Oxana,Edward) been talking to him to punish me for making them accountable for how they treated and objectified me during COVID( putting all their stress onto me).My family and neighbourhood in Longridge are covertly abusive and look for every opportunity to snake me regarding my life with not an ounce of remorse whatsoever. There have even been women(like Leyla and Ahlina) who talk to my mum behind my back to cause more abuse and harm as a control mechanism.
STAY AWAY
Ensure that you don't apply for the university of London. Don't let the name fool you.
Starting a degree is a huge life decision. It's a decision that takes months, even years of planning. The University of London will not support you through this time. They are almost impossible to reach.
I applied in August to start in October. On the 1st of October I was told that I have a place as long as I complete a maths assessment. I applied immediately and complained through the enquiry hub that I hadn't got it yet. I heard nothing to I took to social media. That seemed to work. They sent me the payment link for the maths assessment on the 20th of October.
It's the 31st of October. I've not recieved anything. I sent another enquiry on the website, and I have no response. I was meant to start my degree in October and I've been given no information. I quit my job, I am not earning any money. They took £110 of my money and it's been an incredibly stressful time.
I strongly suggest that you find somewhere else to study. I have heard great reviews from the open university. Don't chose this one.
Please, do not do it, Find a better Option
Twenty years before embarking on my journey at the University of London (UOL), I had already achieved an A in the Cambridge General Paper, demonstrating my strong proficiency in English which is my first language. I had also been teaching at a local University where I used English daily.
I was accepted into the “University Of London” “External Programs” / “International Programs” for the LLB in 2008 but started in 2010.
At that time of my acceptance, I had already obtained an accredited “Associates Degree”; “Bachelors Degree”; “Masters Degree” and a “Post graduate diploma in education and training”
Though I already had an accredited Bachelors degree, I was mysteriously denied the option of graduate entry, which would have allowed me to take less subjects, Anyway! I submitted photocopies of my, birth certificate, all educational qualifications and my passport and to this day they could not get my name right!!!
I had gotten the source material from a friend who was currently repeating the course and started preparing two years prior to starting classes so that I could hit the ground running. The LLB’s assessment was predominantly Summative consisting of four exams, as opposed to three if I had been accepted into the graduate entry route.
I did 4 exams they had the audacity to inform me that I had failed all 4 as the pass mark was 40% they gave me 35% for criminal law and 39% for contract law. they said “they could not read my public law script”, that seems odd as three other papers I sat in the same month using the same pen the other examiners were able to read them, as there was no injury to my hand or any unusual circumstances affecting my handwriting. So how in “Bloody Hell” could the paper that could not have been read was given a grade of 16%. So, I asked a reasonable question “HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET A GRADE WHEN YOU CANNOT MAKE OUT THE WORDS ON MY SCRIPT???”. Here is where it gets interesting, I was told that because “Two examiners mark the script one was able to read it but the other could not”. This is tantamount to academic fraud. So, I asked for a remark of all papers, preferably by an external accredited body at my own cost, “Sorry Not Possible” for internal or external, remark.
So, I requested a break down of the grading scheme to see where I was deficient e.g.

JUST A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, I WOULD HAVE BETTER LUCK @ THE LOTTO!!!
Material is outdated
Material is outdated, links on their homepage do not work, supporting material was not received, support is slow and not sufficient. A 50USD Cursera Course is better organised, more supportive and more sufficient than a post graduate program at the university of London. Very very sad!
Terrible Student Support and Lack of Transparency
I am loving the paid advertisement from "Enconsul" for 5-Stars and literally written all 1-Star reviews for everything else, obviously fake... It motivated me to write a true honest review of this UoL.
Curriculum: I'm studying marketing, and the course material is subpar. The university doesn't really use textbooks, relies on podcasts and opinion articles, and lacks structure. There's little feedback, making self-study challenging. The lessons cover too many topics at once, and the peer review is ineffective due to lack of communication. Hint: Just use a TEXTBOOK for each course! That's it! WE don't need these nonsense opinionated pieces!
Instructors: I haven't received constructive feedback from any of the instructors. Most communication is from teaching assistants and staff, and I haven't been able to talk to an actual teacher in over two years. The pre-recorded lessons on Coursera don't offer any direct interaction. During a feedback session, an instructor showed a lack of concern for non-native English speakers' challenges. Without feedback, we can't improve. The lack of empathy and support from the teachers is discouraging. I still haven't been able to reach an instructor, and the school doesn't accommodate students' needs.
Quizzes: Every semester, we have quizzes and an essay exam, but the lack of feedback makes it difficult. The short quizzes feel pressure-packed, and the questions are inconsistent and glitchy. Sometimes, the quizzes cover material we haven't studied, and some questions are opinion-based with no clear answers.
Exams Part 1: I was fine with the 24-hour double essay process, but then the school suddenly tried to make us do a 1-hour 1500 word essay in the middle of the semester, breaking their own rules. The instructor got frustrated during our feedback session and abandoned the meeting. Most of us are from another country and English is our second language, so it was unfair to suddenly change the rules. One student managed to get our exams back to the original method, which was the most fair and best way for busy people like me. The school emphasizes independent study and free learning, but the sudden rule changes and disruptions don't align with that.
Exams Part 2: They recently introduced a new proctor submission system, and it's terrible. The system requires additional documents and proof, and after submitting my exam, I received a low grade without any feedback, when all my grades have been wonderful. They made it impossible to understand the reason for my grade. I learned that I would have to pay the school to review the instructor's grading process, not my paper, so how do I argue that it probably that AI review that flagged everything I wrote (My AI plagiarism reviewer all said 100% clear, I used like 3 platforms). Every other school provides reasons, but not this one. They don't even offer guidelines for writing papers. It's a frustrating experience.
Social Aspect: The school does a terrible job to gather the community! My weird class for some reason went to WhatsApp like an idiot when the school provided Slack. No staff can join the WhatsApp, but the school doesn’t emphasize to use Slack to communicate with us, my slack channels are completely empty with no communication or notes from anyone, at least the instructors or teaching assistants and try to force people back on properly. I think this would solve most if not all of the issues we have with communication.
There is SO MANY ISSUES that I don’t recommend this school at all! It isn’t worth it. No feedback, no improvement, no social aspect, and zero benefit to my career because I don’t feel smarter at all. I am just in my final years, so I am screwed… Pick another one, there’s tons more out there! Don’t let the name fool you! I have just stressed throughout this process. I am still fighting to get my emails through!
Cost effective Reputable University
The University of London offers the most reputable and cost effective online distance learning programmes. The programmes are challenging and the exams are tough. That’s why they are reputable. I understand why some students are not happy due to the stringent assessments they have to go through to safeguard standards. However, you should not expect to receive the same learning support as you would if you study on campus. You need to be self motivated, inquisitive and independent in order to thrive on the programme. It is no brainer to expect the same level of support because you just pay a fraction of the tuition fee. If you need to be taken care of like a baby, you should opt for paying expensive tuition fees and studying on campus. I personally found my degree awarded by the University of London very useful which helped me land my dream job. I would no doubt recommend anyone who wants to obtain a qualification from a renowned university to study one of their distance learning programmes. Their degrees are well recognised by employers worldwide
Worst experience for my son
Me as a father who's son admitted to this university more than 1-1/2 years back for online distance learning BSc programme is completely devastated.
Worst study experience, no live interaction with teachers, course modules way different than the actual exam or assessment, my son literally struggling to find himself navigate modules.
Student support team seems like they don't care for any kind of urgent situation, minimum turn around time for any kind of request is 3 ~ 5 weeks, and every time they have same excuse of 'High numbers of volume", switch board takes forever to pick the call then reaching out to the relevant department or section is another story
I am still not able to understand why not regulatory authority take notice of this kind of scam?
I have no other choice but to stop my son doing further study and looking for option to transfer to other university for on campus study.
Awful university with an overly academic mindset
It's an awful university. All lecturers and staff are way too enmeshed in an overly academic mindset. What would be needed are more people from the world of business.
This university is a sham.
In my personal experience and my personal opinion. This university is a sham. Stay clear. It never refunds anything. It increases word counts on modules AFTER registration but not the time to do them. Its non numbers based/essay marking is a good 25% below that of other masters institutions. Its approach to dissertations is unethical per leading academic texts. Requests to withdraw are ignored. Its understanding of real world business is dubious. It would not allow an interruption of studies (embedded in its terms) to increase chances of you not submitting and so an excuse to charge you more/keep your money. It is designed for their financial gain only. It has no standing among other universities. Their focus is certainly not on its students. Many people have lost a lot of money to these people. Don't be another one.
Paid £25 get my partial transcripts for…
Paid £25 get my partial transcripts for a program I enrolled in the past on 6th December 2023 from Pakistan, it's been almost 2 months now and I haven't heard back from them. Customer service keeps saying "We've escalated this problem.", I was looking to apply for a Transfer program but I'm losing hope in that too now because of this ordeal. UOL is the worst. They don't respect you or your money. Don't enroll. Stay away. Joke of a University.
Terrible student support system.
Terrible student support system.. actually there is none at all.
Try requesting for a transcript and you will face the frustration of your life. They ask you to follow a procedure, you do it then there is absolutely no response. Emails to them go cold turkey. I called to follow up my emails and was told to raise an inquiry on my student account. Like really???? Why not reply to my email only for you to ask me to raise an inquiry about the same email. And then not even respond to the inquiry.
Awful job application platform
Awful job application platform. Requires way too much information up-front and questions that should be reserved for interview. Stop information mining and taking short cuts, wasting people's time, making applicants do your job for you.
Wasted lots of money, time and energy
When a year and a half ago I was reading these reviews I thought “only angry students write reviews”. Now I am here, reading them again to find some comfort in similar situations. I have lost time, energy and A LOT OF MONEY.
The biggest problem is clearly the support they have. I was sick the day of the assessment and I immediately opened a ticket with the doctor certificate attached and all the description of my illness as requested by them. No answer, months later and many tickets and calls later, I am still left with no answer and no possibility to resit for the exam. In the meantime, in the middle of the course they changed the rules for the assessments. Since now they were making you write two papers on an open book kind of exam, and now they will introduce a platform that will record every single move and word that you say without any permission, and now I am left for months without knowing how the exam will be, if I will still be able to use the books and they literally said that they will let us know 4 weeks before the exam, which is ridiculous as I need to know beforehand how to prepare.
If you call they will just say that they will escalate the issue and will give you zero answers. They have their regulations and they completely ignore it at their convenience (eg. They should let you sit again within one week after the exam day to give another attempt but they don’t do that and only disappear).
The material is mostly free online (podcasts on BBC news, articles papers) and sometimes some chapters of their books which are of a poor digital quality.
The teachers appear like 4 times a semester in 6 minutes videos just introducing you to the course. The material does not prepare you in any way for the questions you get at the tests. What a true disappointment.
I have no words to explain my…
I have no words to explain my frustration with that institution!!! I paid €2500 for the First semester, and within a week, I did withdraw my application. By English law, you have time to reconsider your commencement, and I did so. I have been calling them and sending emails to request information about when I will receive my refund without any success...more then a month have passed and still no answer from anywhere. I think this university is a scam to get your money and there is no way to talk with them. Nothing works to get in touch with them.
Awful support system
I have not even started to study yet, but want to give up already because of their Tech Support. They do not answer for days, if you call them - they say they will escalate the issue, and nothing happens. I am being transferred across all the various departments and do not have a single point of contact. I am meaning to start my studies on 9th October, but because of lack of support and numerous delays, I am seriously reconsidering if it is worth it! I understand what they are trying to achieve - having 1 central support system for everything, but it is getting to a point where I do not want to study there any more as if there are issues in the future, there is no help at all.
Before applying, I read similar reviews, but did not believe that it can be that bad. Well, it is !
Awful support, website, platform, communication
Awful support, awful student communication team, awful advising. Their website is awful as well. I just tried to register after getting an offer, and their website just got stuck on the same page, didn't allow me to register at all. Tried to login 100 times, still using the same token leading me to the same page. Wrote an inquiry when its 30 days until deadline, now 2 days left to register, still no solution. And guess what, they close your support inquiry saying that they solved the problem but they don't. So you reach them out again and wait 10 days for you to reach. I did this process for 5 times, with no solution at all. Oh, I forgot to mention even though I have assigned myself to "data science" specialization, they have incorrectly assigned me to "web design", and you have to wait until they figure out how to solve that problem in 10 days as well. It is basically a useless website with useless support team, such a mess. Scandalous for such a credible institutiton.
Technical issues all the time
Having serious second thoughts of starting my studies with University of London in November 2023. I have completed my first undergraduate degree with a New Zealand university (I live in New Zealand) via distance learning and it was such a good learning experience. Unfortunately, they do not offer law. Firstly, my messages to the university go unanswered for weeks, even if I message them 3-4 times, they don't respond in a timely manner. Also, it's been day 4 of trying to register with so many technical issues and am still waiting to be helped. If this is how it is in the beginning am skeptical it would get any better.
Don't join it!
Worst experience. It's more like self study. No online classes, no guidance. Just some short videos about the lessons' contents. The sample papers are NOTHING like actual exam questions. You're on your own from A-Z. You don't have any teachers.. It's like giving a toddler alphabet books and telling them to learn it themselves.
Wasted 2 years and money. I regret it so much cuz I gained nothing. May not sound expensive but not worth even a single penny.
Top university
Committed and helpful staff provide a great experience for all.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. Trying to do an MSc in data science. The course material is fine but its dysfunctional in the worst way. The actual university, the admin is atrocious. Am walking away after 2 years and thousands of pounds spent.
