My worst experience ever
It never got right since I sent my application for LLB at the University of London.
I'm asking myself whether the university exists or it's all a scam. There is a real problem with UOL.
The problem started in OCT 2022 and up to now hasn't been sorted out.
Unfortunately, I read reviews of
UOL when it was too late.
They have taken the application and registration money without providing any service to me as a mature international independant student.
I'm wondering if there is someone to support students from this university. We are distant learners so we email them. They say they can't handle too many emails. At the end of the day, we take stress for their incompetency. Awaiting them to take actions on issues to proceed further are simply expectations. When you call them it's the same repetitive message: 'The issues have been forwarded to the technical team.'
Almost 8 months have passed dealing with so many problems
I cannot study because I don't know if they are going to register me for examination or not. The deadline is over and reminders were sent to them to unblock my portal for registration of exams months ago.
Of all, I've received no study material as promised with no access to virtual learning so what is the registration fee for?
When they can't assist you neither by phones nor mails, what do you do?
You stress yourself which develops into a depression and finally you are mentally disturbed and can't advance further in your studies. It's what happening to me, a deadroad. Your education career depends on their decisions and if you want to look for another university you need to have the refund.
If they are not supporting me in my education, will they refund my registration money? May be it might take a year or so bevause they don't give sign of life after taking your money.
I've read reviews where students are literally crying over their decisions after their enrollments with this university.
I'm in the same boat.
Somebody out there, please check out on this university.
I really wish someone looks into its operations. My student portal has remained blocked with100 mails unanswered.
Charlatans masquerading as an online university
Just don't bother. Honestly, it's not worth the hassle. The course administration and student engagement is embarrassingly poor.
For example, we are due to start exams next week, but have not received our anonymous codes. Additionally, we are still waiting for assignment feedback. This was due back to us at the beginning of february. I find it absolutely bewildering how the university can expect online distance learning students, the majority of whom balance their studies with jobs, to understand the amount of exam preparation they need to do without providing them with assignment feedback.
Top it off with extortionate "module continuation fees" for assignment failures, and an additional £10 fee per exam, it's difficult to discern whether this is a genuine uni, or a scam. Though of, course, this is solely my opinion.
If you're considering a part time online distance learning masters degree, steer well clear.
The worst studying experience I have…
The worst studying experience I have encountered in my life as a student (I studied in the UK and abroad). Literally everything is malfunctioning, proctoring software during exams, online portals etc.
The online lectures are outdated and don't cover all the material but only some chapters. No support for students, the response time to the online enquires (the only way to resolve any issues) are horrendous at least three, four weeks. I wished I read other students reviews before I enrolled. As mentioned by other people below UoL sadly is a complete waste of time and money.
Abysmal support for students
Inefficient, inept organisation with regards to online studies. Waited two months to register in order to continue studying for 2022-23 academic year, my final year. Finally received a link in mid February (10 weeks before the exams start), along with a price increase! The delay in registering does not allow me enough time to complete more than one module for the final academic year. No explanation for the delay given by the university. Subsequently, it was revealed that the IT department has been experiencing technical issues since December, due to the continuous absence of an IT manager! No discount or dispensation offered to offset the disruption of starting studies late. The response time for support for online students is abysmal. The students are not the university's first priority; the fees are! Resits for most modules are only once a year so studies get drawn out and consequently cost more.
As an educator, the school doesn't respect her students.
After reading all the reviews, looks like I am not alone. UoL provides very bad service to online/distance learning students. I have waited for months for the result of one of my modules to release. and I can't register for my last module for yr 2022/23 because of that. If they want to fail it, just tell me then! (of course I think i should pass it) I submitted several enquires, none of them got a solution..they just asked me to wait.. Deadline is already passed.
Seems like my past 4 years have been wasted. 4 years! and i only have one module left. wonder should I file a complaint, would they read it?
I work long hours and I have to log in and check if there's any update few times a day. that's very stressful and depressing. Students should spend their time studying instead of wasting their precious time dealing with their bad service.
The worst place for any student
The worst place any student, anywhere in the world can study. Do not waste your time or your money with this institution. Trust me, your money is better spent elsewhere. My peers and I waited nearly 2 years for our diplomas to arrive. I had to personally make a case with the OIA in order to get these people to move. I was going to take legal action against them for loss of income. What an awful institution. Awful, awful.
DO NOT COME!!!
DO NOT COME!!!
I stayed with them for about four years. There are many problems with this university, including lack of communication with tutors, bad teaching quality and WORST administration.
Example: Horrible support for online students.
I had a registration problem but all I can do was to email the university and wait for a respond. I emailed them on Sep. 13th. But they didn't reply my emails even after Sep. 26th which was the deadline of registration. The DEADLINE, as it always is in this uni, was extended for a week. But still I heard nothing from university. Now it is Oct. 10th, the start of the October session, my registration was unsuccessful and no courses shown on my dashboard. Still, no reply AT ALL from the university. I'm not alone. Until Oct.10 there are at least 13 students in the same situation as me.
Still waiting on a response from the…
Still waiting on a response from the registration team, its been more than two weeks now
Gives me little confidence that an online learning provider does not have the capacity to handle queries
It's worth it
Hi.. I have joined MSc in Supply Chain Mgmnt and Global Logistics a year back. Contrary to almost all the comments here, I will genuinely advise that it is worth it, specially for those who are coming from developing countries. Indeed their response to students' queries may take time but they have been working on it to improve their correspondences. It all depends on what you want out of it. Distance and online learning purely depends on your own time management and dedication to the studies. The materials are excellent sources of knowledge and will open your vision about the industry trends of the outer world. I would suggest, go for it, even if you choose to involve module by module, give it a try.
Hope this helps.
There is not a real dream
As a student of the online university I was really impressed, I was attending a course at LSE, I felt important.
Everything wrong, the online portal fails, the sessions not worthwhile, bad organization, little attention to students, they only pay attention to international students (if you go with student finance you are second class) pedantic and wrong teaching staff, little support, no access to university libraries outside of London.

They rely a lot on their fame but leave a lot to be desired
The University of London is a horrible…
The University of London is a horrible organisation to deal with. THEY HIDE BEHIND THEIR MARKETING AND REPUTATION OF MEMBER UNIVERSITIES.
THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON NEEDS TO BE SCORED AS A Stand Alone UNIVERSITY.
SEPERATELY TO THE "WITH ACADEMIC DIRECTION BY UNIVERSITY"
Student Enquiry's take min 2 weeks to get a response.
They do not respond to complaints despite their own complaints procedure.
They knowingly have not updated student finance with the correct course dates. So I have been blocked from using the Child Care grant.
They will not provide correct proof of study to apply for council tax discount.
Course content is poor.
They either have a horrible organisational culture or have terrible internal practises.
Student success advisors and teaching staff are great.
I would advise anyone looking at studying correspondence - rather go to the Open University. They have better and more up to date content. Will most certainly be treated better any where else.
Be very careful with this University
Be very careful with this University. They reel you in with nice pictures and possibilities and then zero support to you as a student. Instead of spending time enjoying studying you are chasing them for support. They are understaffed completely and there is no support.
If you like to message me, I can show you the endless comments from students also who were not getting any support, Sadly I pulled out of my MBA. The stress of getting no support was too much for me. Also, they sell this MBA as a straightforward easy to the basic module which is incorrect and the module is completely out of date.
Worst academic experience ever!
Worst academic experience ever!
University of London BSc Computer Science, Coursera degree don’t have any administrative support. Their registration system never works, so I need to email support during every registration. They take weeks and often months to reply to emails. This time when they only responded 7 weeks after my email and said the registration has passed, so I can’t register for this semester. This is how all students are treated. I know this because everyone on Slack complains about how bad they are treated. Students have to comment badly on LinkedIn, Facebook and instagram to have their emails responded to. Social media staff would delete these comments often too without responding.
I decided to transfer to another university, for this I needed the transcript and they wouldn’t send it, because transcript office is closed they said. I’m stuck here without any support. Tuition fees increases every year and support is becoming poorer by semester. Complain emails are answered by the same people who respond to administrative emails, so my complaints even won’t get answers. Degree director Matthew Yee King only ignore emails and complaints. I deeply regret joining this degree, wasting my money and 2 years at this university. I recently got accepted into Arizona state university as a new student.
Incredibly poor service and…
Incredibly poor service and organization
Takes months for them to reply to emails, midterm results come out weeks after finals (3+ months for them to grade anything).
Students often experience technical difficulties where they've paid for courses but don't have access... usually a quick fix but any small issue is blown up as the university DOES NOT RESPOND. Truly, a frustrating experience and not one I'd recommend to anyone.
The quality of the courses is poor, except for Dr. Yee-King. (granted, I'm only in my 3rd semester).
If it were free of charge, it would be FRUSTRATING. Alas, it costs thousands of pounds, making it feel less like incompetence and more like exploitation.
Don't recommend
Terrible study experience at 'Computing and information systems' and 'Creative computing' BSc programmes.
Here's the non-exhaustive list of cases:
1. UOL is changing its rules on the fly (e.g. maximum registration period for the current students decreased.)
2. Study materials are obsolete.
3. Lack of feedback on exams and courseworks.
4. Slow response to students' inquiries (which sometimes takes a few months.)
5. Unreliable software infrastructure (especially during exams and registration.)
These cases are thoroughly documented and described here: uolviolationstracker.web.app
Pitifully poor service
I have thought long and hard about leaving this review. I have concluded it is the right thing to do. I spent two years enrolled on the Global MBA – so this is not a kneejerk reaction, I gave the University plenty of time to improve. During that time, I finished a Post Graduate Diploma with a Distinction – so this is not sour grapes at poor academic results. Just an honest reflection of the care and attention the University pays to fee-paying students.
In my experience, the University does not understand that students pay for a service. Below are some examples from my experience. These are by no means exhaustive and I am by no means the only student to have this type of experience. If you do choose to enrol with this organisation, you’ll get a picture of the frustration so many feel if you visit the Reach Out Forum. But I would urge you not to.
• There is only an online portal through which to contact them, so a lack of responsiveness cannot be chased by phone.
• The pandemic was used as an excuse for every failure in service provision. That other organisations had managed to adapt seems lost.
• It took 5 months to investigate a nonsense allegation of self-plagiarism and conclude that I had no case to answer. Throughout this process, the University met none of its own deadlines, declined to answer any of my questions, and consistently provided me with factually incorrect information.
• The University chose a key time in the assessment cycle to update and break the VLE. It took two weeks – with no meaningful communication in the meantime - to restore functionality. During this time, students were (absurdly) encouraged to continue to report the loss of functionality individually. The excuse for taking so long to fix it (other than the pandemic) was that there were so many individual reports of VLE failure!
• The University repeatedly considers that it has answered questions in a timely manner when it posts a holding reply. It uses these holding replies to “prove” that it has met its obligations to students.
• When I complained about a lack of responsiveness, it took more than 4 months and numerous reminders to receive an initial response. Even the formal complaint process was late in concluding its investigation – one that ultimately agreed that the level of service I had received was generally not acceptable, but that senior management weren’t really going to do anything meaningful about it.
• When I demonstrated to senior management that the investigation of my complaint had been highly selective in assessing evidence of service performance levels, my observations were met with indifference.
• It is now nearly 7 months since my PG Dip was awarded. I was promised the hard copy of the Diploma plus accompanying documentation by “mid-May.” Needless to say, I am still waiting.
There are some really good tutors and academic staff on this course. If this review were only about the academic side it would have 4 stars. I would like to think that to protect their reputations the University might take steps to improve. Unfortunately, senior management seems so preoccupied hiding behind “regulations” that it is seems unlikely that it is either willing or able to do the right thing and ensure an acceptable service for what is an expensive experience.
