Loughton Motor Company experience

We purchased our car from Loughton Motor Company and had the pleasure of dealing with Robb.

We found him to be an eloquent, intelligent and very personable chap, who has proved his word with before, during and after sales care.

Due to a DVLA issue at purchase, he loaned us a ‘for like’ car for several weeks and drove some distance to our home. We assisted him to the local station, doing the same several weeks later when he collected the car.

A refreshing experience and Robb has reassured us that he is a used car dealer with integrity

POOR EXPERIENCE Loughton Motor Company…

POOR EXPERIENCE Loughton Motor Company Essex (LMC) 2019 Audi Q5 S Line Diesel in White.

I am currently in the car market looking for a well maintained used Audi Q5 and I thought I had found the right one. I was getting quite excited at buying an advertised Q5 S line with “Full Audi History” which I saw advertised at the LMC Essex. Even though it is 240 miles from my home I was really looking forward to hopefully travelling to Essex and buying a car for my wife.

I initially contacted the garage via their contact page online and Rob gave me his mobile number. I called the number and a very abrupt “hello” came back, not very professional I thought however it’s all about the car. Rob then offered to chat on WhatsApp.

Rob the salesman appeared helpful at first and I asked a lot of pertinent questions regarding the car as the Description on the LMC webpage only stated one line “1 owner Full Audi History 2 keys”. This was very vague I thought. I asked if the car had any damage particularly the bodywork and alloys.

Rob sent me a video of the car where it was evident that there was some minor paintwork marks and curbed alloys. Nothing too concerning however I did manage to negotiate a refurbishment on the alloys and paintwork touching up.

In the meantime I asked Rob to confirm the last service and history and also did the car have a tow bar or preparation.

Rob then asked me for £500 deposit as he was going to refurbish the wheels so I needed to effectively hold the car until I could travel the 240 miles to view, test drive and hopefully buy. I did ask if this was refundable before paying and the answer was yes.

I paid on Friday morning and asked for a receipt. The receipt never arrived until Monday late around 4:15pm. Then the receipt stated at the bottom “please be aware all deposits are strictly non refundable!”. This naturally caused concern This was alarm number one.

Then after I paid the deposit the service record from Audi appeared on the WhatsApp chat. I opened it up after a prompt from Rob “are you happy with the service history I have provided?”

Alarm bell number two the Audi history that Rob sent to me only showed evidence of one actual Audi service at 20,995 miles. Rob confirmed he did not have any further service records. The car has now done 50,000 miles. Therefore the Q5 has only had one Audi service in over 50,000 miles of use. This was unfortunately confirmed when I called the Audi service department who were very helpful and said sorry it does not have a “Full Audi History”. Far from it!!

Alarm 3 during the process Q5 was still advertised by both the LMC website and auto trader as available. The advert did not state Reserved as a buyer who has paid £500 would expect.

Alarm bell number 4 the advert had changed from its original but limited description of “1 Owner Full Audi History 2 Keys” on the Tuesday to “1 owner 2 Keys”.

Alarm bell number 5, the poor inaction of refunding the £500 deposit with a poor excuse for not paying it back in a fair period of time considering the sale never happened due to Loughton Motor Companies fault. I eventually got a message of a refund on Thursday evening at 6:45pm with one word “done” from Rob.

I found the whole experience as the worst I have experienced in buying any of my cars in over 38 years. I found the Loughton Motor Company very unprofessional in particular Rob being discourteous to its customer when actually the main reason why I never purchased was the lack of advertised service history. Very off putting, why did I have to wait for a refund when it should have been instant with an apology which I have never received.

Not a single apology for what was Rob’s fault not mine. I have been very patient and polite all the way through this stressful experience.

Nobody would purchase a car costing over £20,000 with a partial at best service history. Especially when a car with a partial history could be as much as 10-20% depreciated in value.

All I ask is for future customers to do their due diligence on any claimed service history. Perhaps Rob who has been in the business a long time should also do his due diligence perhaps prior to advertising “Full Audi History”.

Highly recommend LMC!

So I Purchased a 3 series from LMC using my 5 series as a part ex and I can honestly say Rob at LMC has been fantastic. I had some niggling issues with the car at first but Rob made sure he was always there to talk through and find a solution. I also had a full service done and LMC reimbursed me a large majority of the costs due to some surprises that popped up and had to be sorted.

It was my second time buying a used car through trade and not a main dealer and I will definitely use and recommend LMC to anyone in the future, fantastic service and a true sense of care and pride in what they do.

I bought a 2019 car in October 2024

I bought a 2019 car in October 2024. The car is low milage and good condition and the price was reasonable. I was promised the service history that was not available at the time of purchase. I have tried to make contact (phone calls, messages, emails) on a number of occasions but have received no reply's and not yet managed to speak to anyone. I wonder if they are still trading? If anyone from the company reads this review please contact me and I will remove this review.

This place is ran by a crook family of brothers. Max sold me a Mercedes with thousands of issues and has been nothing but cunning and narcissistic in our interactions. Rob is equally the same as a formal complaint was raised and all he can answer to was the fact they did nothing wrong with mis-selling of price. First issue was their advertising ability, where I had saw the car advertised it turned out that it was also advertised on another platform for more money and I happened to find the advertisement with the lower price and applied for finance. After securing the finance Max would not sign the car over until I arranged for the extra money he was demanding. When I viewed the car max would not let me see under the bonnet which turns out the car has a rodent issue following an independent inspection. I also questioned him on the difference in price and he said they have no space so needed to get rid of it. He will try and set you up with his friends financing business and all he will talk about is this person getting a percentage and that. Once mechanical issues arise he will send you to Quick Stop Autos down in Romford who are all incompetent at their job. Engine check like came on and luckily I have an OBD machine which advised me of the issue but when sent to his chosen mechanics they will treat you like your stupid and clear codes without repairing the issue. Then tell you there’s nothing wrong and the car is just sensor sensitive. There was an issue the day I left the dealership which under their impression was an easy fix by replacing the battery, however, after 6 months the issues are getting worse to the point a second inspection has taken place due to the car being UNSAFE to drive. & all max will do is ignore you, busy your calls on the business line or tell you to book another appointment with their incompetent mechanics. Then fob you off with the costs. I have given this man a chance having questioned him on previous bad reviews and he clearly has the gift of the gab - biggest fraudster. AVOID. As they have now resulted to ignoring me via telephone and email YOU DISGUSTING MEN CHOSE THE WRONG WOMAN TO FRAUD AND I WILL GET EVERY PENNY BACK WASTED BELIEVE ME.

Brilliant Company

Brilliant Company
I bought a mini convertible from Loughton Motor Company and through no fault of theirs or mine, the car went wrong almost immediately but Rob the MD was so supportive and did everything in his power to get it sorted. The problem was the car failed to start and he immediately sent out a mobile mechanic and replaced the battery free of charge but sadly a couple of days later the same thing happened and he collected the car and got a new alternator fitted but would you believe, that still didn't solve the problem. It then went to another repairer and they thought it was caused by something on the alarm and another part was replaced to no avail. By this time Rob was getting as frustrated as me and was determined to resolve it no matter what the cost and frequently offered me a hire car but didn't need it. He said from the start that it was probably the smallest fault but hard to diagnose. I lost track with who was repairing it, because it went to a few places but I'm pretty sure it was the Mini specialist that found the fault and like Rob thought, it was nothing big (one of the previous owners had fitted a do it yourself iPod socket) and it was tucked away in the glove compartment secretly draining my new battery. Rob suggested I keep the insurance and tax running and he would reimburse me for the time that I was without the car, which he did. I got the car back a week ago and it drives like a dream and starts first time👏Rob and his brothers were there for me every step of the way and would totally recommend this company😇Thank you for not minding me constantly bugging you

Hands down one of the best dealers I…

Hands down one of the best dealers I have ever dealt with. Rob and the team were excellent, honest and extremely helpful. Purchased a 24 year old Mercedes SL from the team who were extremely honest about the overall condition of the car. It did develop some age related issues (nothing major) but they have taken upon themselves to sort the issues, liaise with myself to keep me updated and taking care of the repairs and arranging an MOT in the meantime.

I’ve been in the motor industry for many years and have to say, these guys are setting the bar with their professionalism and customer service!

They take advantage

Bought a car from them out of desperation as I was moving house and mine had been written off. I overpaid to the extent that 8 months later when I came to resell the car, I couldn't even get scrap for it. I knew it was overpriced but not by that much.

Also I had a serious problem with it chucking out black smoke and not being able to drive uphill. As it was still under warranty, Rob sent it to his garage in Waltham Abbey. When I got it back, he acted like he'd done me a big favour by not charging me!

If you know anything about cars you might not get ripped off, but if you don't, stay away.
