Horrible company, constantly contacting and threatening people chasing debt.
I stood my ground on a BT debt, they claimed I owed £600. I told them it was wrong , eventually it disappeared. Then they chased my adult daughter up for a credit card debt that she had paid. Now they are chasing me for an energy debt dating back 2014 , even though I bought the place in 2017. Complete chancers

Despite repeatedly telling them I have an active IVA, giving them the company name and reference number they are still refusing to contact my insolvency practitioners and continue to harass me. Despicable.

Much the same as so many other reviews on here, bombarded with threats of legal action, countless phone calls and letters demanding payment on a debt that cannot exist as I have never been a customer of the company. I am considered vulnerable with significant MH issues, there is zero accommodation for that. I have a meeting with my local MP who I am hoping can help.
Update - 24.10.2025
The company continues to harass me completely disregarding my condition, bombardment by post, phone and email is ceaseless.
I have now made complaints to FOS, FCA and ICO.
In the last 12 month reporting period, over 2,300 complaints have been escalated to the FOS alone due to Lowell's conduct; if you are reading this and they have wronged you, I urge you to do the same.

Chasing a debt for a phone from o2 that has never been in my possession! Attempted to upgrade after completing all payments with o2 last year, long story short the phone was returned to o2 which dpd said they had LOST on transit. 3 months later o2 said they have received the phone back. I went with another company due to the shambles that is o2. And now this ‘debt’ company is chasing nearly £800 for a phone that was never legally mine nor did I have in my possession! tried for the past 3 days to contact lowell to be on hold for hours. I will be making a formal complaint. Disgusting chasing money that isn’t legally owed for a phone I never had.

If scamming, lying, and harassing people was a sport, Lowell would be Olympic champions. This parasitic, bottom-feeding company is nothing more than a legalised extortion racket, preying on people with fake, unenforceable debts, hoping they’ll scare you into paying up.
First off, they never provide any proof of their claims—because they have none. They send generic, scripted nonsense, dodging any legal obligations while demanding money like a bunch of desperate loan sharks. When you rightfully demand the required legal documents, they either ignore you, send irrelevant copy-paste emails, or start making up excuses about not needing to provide them. Pathetic.
Most of their so-called debts are years old, meaning they are about to become statute-barred, yet they keep chasing people with empty threats and deception. Let’s be real—these clowns have no legal authority to do anything other than harass people through endless phone calls and letters.
They even dare to accuse people of using ‘template letters’ when we demand proof of their bogus claims. How about actually providing the legal documents you're required to instead of deflecting like a bunch of fraudsters? You don’t have them because your business relies on deception, not law.
I’ve reported these predatory, scamming lowlifes to the FCA, Ombudsman, and Trading Standards, and I encourage everyone else to do the same. The sooner these scammers are shut down, the better.
To anyone reading this: DO NOT PAY THESE COWBOYS A SINGLE PENNY. Challenge everything, demand legal proof, and watch them crumble because they have NOTHING.
Lowell is a disgrace to the financial industry and should be banned from operating. Scum of the earth.

I have been paying very little every month to pay off numerous debts some of which are my daughters … I’m disabled and suffer from very bad anxiety and find it hard to cope with telephone enquiries as my medications cause me to slur my words which then fuels my anxiety more .
I have just gone on the app to pay and on 2 accounts it’s not giving me the option and it is saying that the accounts are on hold .
I have been told I shouldn’t pay anymore as they can’t legally take your money and there are so many bad reviews on here .

I had these dodgy lot generate a default on a debt I didn't even owe, created fraudulently, I was unaware of this, finally TransUnion removed the debt after investigating from my file. They on 2 occasions agreed I was not their customer, received compensation both times but now they are chasing myself again because I am all of a sudden their customer. They also won't provide myself any evidence of the debt. They also lie that it is not statute bared, even though 7 years ago. The try to grind you down and spit you out. Worst company ever.

Constantly sending me letters that are nothing to do with me. Claiming I owe money from something which was settled years ago!

Funny how there are multiple trust pilot accounts for the rubbish firm Lowell.
All politely answered by Lowell mouthpiece Catherine.
How does that woman sleep at night?

It's true that Lowell debt collection agents can be polite and friendly, but that's only if you agree to sending them money.
The moment you dispute the debt, the happy-go-lucky friendly agents are gone, replaced by those who harass, pressure, belittle, and misrepresent the law and your rights.
Keep in mind, the staff replying to these reviews is most likely not even aware of this other side to Lowell. As far as they're concerned, we are just angry plebs who don’t want to pay them.
That’s how Lowell is structured internally, though, and in some ways, the staff are innocent and not even aware of the abuse and violations of the law that go on.
Lowell repeatedly claims they are a fully regulated company, and that may be the case, but that’s also why it’s concerning that they are allowed to behave the way they do.
I can only assume it’s the stigma around owing money that causes many to keep Lowells behaviour this a secret.

I have a big issue with your service. I called to make payment , but your system could not find me. I called a while back and faced the same problem; it was finally concluded you had the wrong surname. I requested corrections and never received any from you. It is offensive to be addressed by the wrong name. I wonder what that says about your service ...

Lowell are really quick at setting up a payment plan for you to pay off your debts, but once they are paid they do not update the credit reference agencies or send adequate proof that the account is closed. This is now causing me real issues trying to rent another property. My account was settled in May 2024 and my CCJ is still showing as active on my credit file and I just receievd a generic letter stating my account is settled after chasing them for this. I am now having to chase again to get my credit file updated and confirmation from the courts that this CCJ is settled.

Asked me personal questions about my health and then said they would share it with third parties without even asking for my permission.

They told me I owed money from a o2 account so I paid them. When I released I did not owe o2 any money I sent them evidence of this, and they proceeded to mark my credit rating and refused to give me the money back. Bunch of cowboys that need to be regulated better.
