All the staff at the sarnia site are so friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately every meal I have tried is such a disappointment. Just had "creamy pesto chicken" and there is nothing creamy about it. Just chicken over a bed of kale. Very disappointing. Also a "keto friendly" meal at 10 net carbs is super high. As is the 6 grams of sugar.

Been enjoying the vegetarian/pescetarian options. I was very skeptical, but they're surprisingly good and filling.
Some suggestions: coconut curry tofu (the shrimp version is good, just not a huge shrimp fan), more tofu and vegetarian options like pad thai, peanut curry, chow mein, ground nut stew, vegan cottage pie...

Orange Dreamsickle Smoothie is my favorite. It’s a treat because it has frozen yogurt but the protein is tasty.

I have had macro foods a few times now. I never eat frozen meals (rarely even leftovers). The meals are so tasty and the ingredients are high quality… real chicken breast, large pieces of broccoli, etc. The food is fresh (even though it’s frozen) and doesn’t have that pre-cooked taste.
Every time my son is admitted to hospital (about 15 times in two years), there are always donated meals in the freezer in the Ronald McDonald Family Room. Macro Foods, your generosity is so appreciated by so many people. Thank you!

I've tried a lot of the older menu, but it's pretty hit and miss depending on your tastes. The hits are amazing and the misses are pretty big misses. Another review comments that a lot of the items carry heat that you aren't expecting, and pretty much anything with their tomato sauce is going to be spicier than expected and it's sometimes great and sometimes not, but it'll vary depending on your taste. If you are sensitive to things having heat, most of the menu will likely be a little hotter than you expect. The rice, breakfast, tofu, and noodle dishes don't always freeze well. Their vegan and vegetarian options are not great, and most of them carry the heat described above, even when you're not expecting it.
Unfortunately I was relying on Macro Foods for dietary restrictions, and their menu has now changed so much that they only carry one protein left I can eat and that's only using the meal builder. The meal builder is a fantastic feature to customize the sides since a lot of the sides I can't eat, but with only one protein I can eat there's hardly a point in placing an order now. I've also gotten vegetables either nicely diced or barely diced at all. I bought some dishes for a relative with arthritis, but I started having to check the meals beforehand to give her the ones that have been cut smaller. (And I mean they were much bigger than expected.) She unfortunately also can't find anything on the menu to eat anymore, so I suppose it doesn't really matter anymore.
The packaging itself lists all the ingredients, but for some reason this isn't on the website. The website only lists very common allergens, and since they have pre-made labels for their dishes, I'm surprised this information isn't just put on their product pages. They do have a really good list of their nutritional information of each dish, and the meal builder shows it as well which is very helpful!
Since I was using Macro Foods to make sure I was getting enough nutrients due to my food sensitivities, I did find the newsletter e-mails saying they can help me get a "beach bod" more than a little annoying. They also had newsletters explaining how they're cheaper from shopping at a grocery store, which was just flat-out incorrect based on my area. And considering the newsletters aren't a lot of coupons and mostly announcements that yet another menu item I can eat is off the menu in exchange for something else I can't eat, the newsletters were depressing to begin with.
I do agree with another reviewer that tipping on the website is confusing and makes the meals from a little pricy but workable to just plain expensive. I always tip, but I don't know if the tipping option is there because the workers are on a server's wage or what. And tipping before I even get to see the preparation quality is disappointing. I totally understand tipping in the store though.
The shipping is okay, but not ideal. At least you know what day to expect it. When I've used it, the tracking I got shows like the food is held overnight which is less than ideal, and in my instance they used UPS, so you can expect them to drop kick the package onto your neighbours' lawn and tell you it arrived two hours after they actually delivered it. The food was still cold when I received it at least. I don't really know if there'll be a solution to this since they're really trapped by shipping companies which are rarely fantastic, so I just started picking up my food instead, which was inconvenient but mostly doable.
Overall the food is good and the service is great! Whenever I've picked up the food the staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. The preparation is a little inconsistent, but mostly good and generally not a big deal if you don't mind a bit of extra work. Generally items freeze well and the packaging is really convenient, though it'd be nice to have reusable containers. But if you're relying on them for food sensitivities and dietary restrictions like me, I don't recommend them since the menu isn't consistent, so it feels like a matter of time until you're like me with nothing left to order. It's disappointing, but I had a good run overall!
