Abysmal customer service

My item was on backorder--three months from the order date. I was not informed of this when I placed the order, nor did the email confirmation mention it. Had to follow the tracking number to find out. Attempting to cancel took nearly 30 minutes. The website couldn't locate the order (despite my providing the number) and I had to go through umpteen layers of phone menu before reaching a live agent. Then came the icing on cake: instead of just cancelling as I'd asked, he tried to talk me out of it!

Is there a review lower than 1

I purchased several items from Magellan for an upcoming trip several of which I need to return. Their ordering process was awful, you cannot easily track and manage orders. The website has little to no function and I needed to make several calls to customer care. The people there we less than helpful. For the 3 items I need to return, each with a price or $12.95, I need to pay 13.95 to return them after paying to ship them to me. This is insane. I will never buy anything from them again.

Cannot use a gift certificate on their website!!

Received a $100 gift certificate as a Christmas gift. Tried to order yesterday via website. No ability to enter gift cert info. Called customer service. Transferred over & over to offshore call center reps. I sent email to their contact information describing my scenario, was told to select 2 for "place an order" for a gift cert purchase. Tried today. Once again, same situation until they finally told me they would transfer me to main office in MA for the gift cert purchase (ridiculous). Instead, I was disconnected. Really awful customer service experience and I'm not sure I'll be able to use this $100 that was a gift to me.

Poor experience in every way

Instead of honoring my request to exchange two items identified on the return label (that Customer Service had advised me is the appropriate process), the full amount of the order of five items was refunded to PayPal, my original form of payment. However, the tax was not refunded.
Unfortunately, I was not informed of the decision to refund the entire order and ignore my requested exchanges until I called to ask when I could expect to receive the two items.
Also, the quality of the clothing is poor.
As someone else noted, she will never order from Magellan's again because of the high mailing costs. I'm another such former customer. BBB

Worst. Company. Ever

Worst. Company. Ever. Business ethics don’t exist. They will steal your money. I returned an item beginning of October 2025. I was sent an email saying they were processing my return. I called and emailed several times. Three months later and they still have my $145. This company is criminal and should be shut down. Immediately.

What a joke

What a joke. I ordered my normal size boot. Bought two pairs in different colors. They are just a little short so I want to do an even exchange. What a fiasco! The first person I could barely understand and she was no help in getting my problem resolved. I asked for a supervisor. I was told, “she’ll say the same thing.” Well, that infuriates me. I told her I didn’t care what she said to put me through to a supervisor.
Summary: it will take 4 to 6 weeks to get my refund. I already paid $21.99 for shipping plus some unknown fee of $1.99. She did offer after some debate to refund it but now I have to pay $12.99 to return the items to get an exchange which is not available. I have to place a whole new order and wait for their slow shipping again.
What a waste of 30 minutes of my life.
I told her I was just going to send everything back and never do business with them again.
I miss Travel Smith. Buyer beware of these crazy wait times and shipping fee fees back-and-forth. Customer “no service”: 100%

To ADD TO ALL THE BAD REVIEWS

To add to all the bad reviews, I remember when Travelsmith was my go to for travel needs, both clothing, accessories and luggage.
I have gifted my husband several pairs of the Travelsmith pants as well as sport coats with multiple zipped pockets to discourage pickpockets. Magellan does not carry these any longer. When I found the closest pair of pants, I ordered in the same size as 2 other pants from other retailers. They were way too big, more than 2 inches in the waist. Magellan charges $12.99 for return postage, so I used their label and packaging and delivered to USPS, as instructed. They went no where beyond the regional collection where the message with tracking is "waiting for agent pickup". USPS says Magellan can file a claim, as the purchaser of the postage. I have gotten no response. Clearly this is a message- NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH MAGELLAN AGAIN!

I got a gift certificate to Magellan's. I tried to use it online, but there is nowhere to enter gift cards/certificates. (Which is insane....) So I submitted a ticket online to ask how I'm supposed to use it- no answer. (There's no actual email address to send to, so you just rely on some ticketing service on their website to deliver that message.) I called them to place an order, and before we even got started, I asked the rep if they could accept a gift certificate and she said yes. So we went through thirty minutes of me telling this person my billing address, shipping address, email, phones- and all the joys of doing that with someone overseas and repeating numbers and letters back a million times. We get to the end, and I have to give my credit card info because what I'm ordering costs 4 dollars more than the gift card- and at the end of the entire debacle, she says they can't redeem gift cards. So this is just ... this is a scam. And now they have my credit card information, too. Cool cool cool.

My experience was horrible

My experience was horrible. I was given a Magellan's gift card to purchase some travel luggage. I tried 6 times to place an order and NO ONE could take my order. I was passed off to a Level 2 Customer Service and after waiting for 10 minutes (each time) I was hung up on. Honestly, the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I would NEVER recommend this company!

Inaccurate customer information

This is my second recent experience with Magellans. The first time, about a month ago, I ordered a raincoat size small, and it fit like a large, and had to go back. This time, my first writing a review here for this company, I ordered 2 coordinating items (skirt and top). The day before I was supposed to receive my delivery, about 3 weeks before traveling which should have been enough time, I was informed that the skirt was backordered. I called customer service, only to learn that the skirt was due to arrive in 2 months! This info should have been available during the ordering process, especially for a company specializing in travel items, and who charges $16 for shipping of any item! I definitely would not have ordered either item, since they were to be worn together, and will not give this company a third chance. I am done.

I won't order from Magellan's again

I ordered two sleep masks. Now have 8 emails about it. First they didn't have the color I ordered. Then they shipped only one mask, increased the shipping cost and claim I only ordered one mask. I have THEIR order confirmation showing 2 masks. I'm fed up. I won't order from Magellan's again.

Impossible to use gift cards on web.

I have two reasons for giving Magellan's a poor review:

(1) I received several hundred dollars in gift certificates for Magellan's. But I find out that one cannot pay with a gift certificate on the web, you have to call Customer Service, and they have to escalate the call to their Level 2 support to take the order over the phone. If no one is available right away, they take your information and call you back. Unbelievable that a web service would work like this in 2025. I had to do the same process 7 months ago and they told me they were working on getting it to work on the web, but nothing happened.

(2) Their selection is VERY limited. If you received a gift card for them from someone, as I did, it can be very hard to buy anything worthwhile from them that you don't already have.

I never received the product. I will be contacting them to send me the product or give me a refund. Otherwise, I will inform my credit card company.

They have NO respect for your privacy nor have any marketing ethics. I clicked “unsubscribe” to their marketing and get emails every single day. Right now, they all go to my spam folder since I marked them as spam.

SHOP HERE AT YOUR RISK!!! I placed an order in April and all was received in good order. However, I must have clicked on a button during ordering that placed a recurring monthly charge of $25+ on my credit card. I received no notice that this was happening and have been charged for 6 monthly charges before I discovered the RECURRING CHARGE.

Fraudulent company

I was given a gift certificate that can't be used online. I called multiple times to 'place and order'. Each time I was told that I need to speak to 'customer service' and was given a different set of times that 'customer service' is open. Emails are returned and, if you dial 'customer service' directly, someone will try to sell you a medical alert device, reading from a script. It is impossible to use this gift certificate and, I would guess, equally impossible to get any other service. Do not do business with this company.
