We booked our flights directly through Air Greenland and not through booking.com or similar providers. I would always recommend doing so. The weather in Greenland is unreliable. Delays or flight cancellations seem to happen more often. It happened to us on our flight home from Ilulissat via Nuuk to Copenhagen. We were stranded in Ilulissat with three children. The staff at the airport were very helpful and did their best. They can't do anything about the weather either. We were given accommodation twice and vouchers for meals. We would have had to spend a third night in Ilulissat. We were told that we could only check in if we found a hotel or similar accommodation in Nuuk ourselves. All hotels were fully booked. We were lucky and found an Airbnb. Air Greenland reimbursed the costs. The reimbursement took almost three months, but it did arrive. That's why I'm deducting one star. Communication with customer service worked well. The flight from Nuuk to Copenhagen was delayed and was diverted via Aalborg. No problem, we got home again. Thank you, Air Greenland!

Air Greenland Nuuk. Greenland They are so unserious
Beware they are unserious!!!
Booking : BA2SKX
Return trip: 31/7 2025
Price: 22,874 DKK
I am writing to complain about a very unsatisfactory travel experience in connection with our return trip from Greenland to Denmark.
Facts and process:
Cancellation of original departure 31/7:
When we arrived at the airport to check in, we were informed that the flight had been cancelled as it was to be used elsewhere. No further information was given, and we were not offered any form of compensation or alternative solution on site other than hotel accommodation.
• New departure 1/8 from Manitsoq and Nuuk:
The flight departed at 9:05 PM with a delay of 30 minutes compared to the latest announced time and four hours compared to the original plan.
At the airport in Nuuk we were not informed of the reason for the delay.
• Stop in Kangerlussuaq:
Upon arrival in Kangerlussuaq at around 9:40 p.m., some passengers disembarked, but no information was given to us who were going on to Copenhagen.
Suddenly, it was announced that a security check was to be carried out, and we were asked to take our luggage down, open it and identify ownership – this took a very long time.
• Disorganized check-in and boarding:
Repeated counts were made (at least seven times) and boarding passes were checked twice, which led to an additional wait of up to two hours before new passengers boarded and the plane took off from Kangerlussuaq at around 11:50 p.m.
• Lack of catering and service:
There was no catering from Nuuk until midnight. Drinks were not served until 12:30 a.m. (only water, red wine and soda), and food not until 1:30 a.m. And we were told that there was only enough water for one glass for each passenger.
The cabin crew was very unfriendly throughout and did not provide the service we expect on a trip at this price.
• Flight comfort:
The flight was of a very low standard, not at all in line with what we paid for. There was no netting on the seat backs, and the space between the seats was extremely tight. The tables could only accommodate a food tray – nothing else.
• Arrival in Copenhagen:
We did not arrive in Copenhagen until 2/8 at 07.09 Danish time, which is significantly later than planned.
Based on the above, we request:
1. An official apology for the cancellation, delays and the poor communication.
2. Compensation for:
o Flight cancelled on 31/7 without notice or assistance.
o Delay of many hours and unacceptable conditions during the journey.
o The significantly lower level of service and comfort than what we paid for

Even in economy class, the in-flight service including meals and drinks is comprehensive, so you won't get bored even if bad weather prevents you from seeing outside. Flights may occasionally be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions (a colleague experienced this), but GL handles such situations properly, so passengers can rest assured.

Flight-departure moved 1 hour earlier than expected.
Garbage collection onboard after the served meal as usual very slow.
Luggage handling in Nuuk very slow - as usual

On a positive note we left Nuuk airport only an hour or so late - which is apparently pretty good for Air Greenland. We flew Nuuk to Copenhagen in Air Greenland’s Premium class. What a shame. This airline has (with the exception of Turkish Airlines), the best intra-Europe business class we’ve ever flown. Ever. The hard product is superb. It is 100% fit for purpose, the catering was excellent BUT in some misguided attempt at ‘equality’ - they have dumbed it down. So. No priority check-in lane, no lounge at Nuuk airport - just in with the hordes. No fast-track at security (given they only had one machine functioning not sure how they’d do that). Then, no priority boarding - again, it was only by virtue of thinking ‘that sounds positive’ when they started announcements in Greenlandic and heading straight to the gate area that we made it on the plane ahead of the 300 odd other passengers - it would have been easy enough to welcome the 40 odd Premium passengers to board first - so please don’t blame this on the airport. We paid a lot extra to avoid scrums and were disappointed. We boarded in the middle of the plane and got to turn left instead of right - again, could have had a separate airstair for Premium. Once onboard, the seating is 2-3-2 - head for the 2s if you are a couple and if you can select Row 1 - grab it - significantly more leg room and no-one to recline their seat into you. The seats were very comfy, the recline (6 inches) was great, the food was great - BUT there was (literally) one (so no actual) choice - beef. It was superb. Again with the equality issue - the ‘drinks menu’ is basically the inflight magazine - one page is all inclusive drinks for all passengers, the following page is ‘drinks anyone can buy, but are inclusive for premium passengers’ - just cheapened the whole experience - why not print both pages separately and have it (without all the prices) in the ‘Premium’ class seat pocket. The inflight amenity bag was useful - mask, airplugs, headphones, socks (included for premium and at a cost for the rest) - nothing flash but functional. I used my Airfly and Airpods and it worked perfectly with the IFE. Wifi is also free for Premium passengers and provided good connectivity for the whole flight. The movie selection was fabulous. BUT then we arrive into Copenhagen airport and the wheels metaphorically fall off again. There was a delay with the airstairs (please - it’s a 5 hour flight - spring for a jetbridge why don’t you) - and no priority debarkation for Premium (you could get a separate airstair if you must use them, at the front of the plane and a separate bus as Turkish Airlines have) Once again we’re all equal (which is incorrect as we paid a lot more for the ‘privilege’ of flying Premium.) So it was open-slather getting off the plane and into the airport on a packed bus. Then - one of our bags came out first and the other was almost last… which meant a delay getting to the hotel included in our expedition cruise - and another queue. So if Air Greenland is listening. STOP messing about with “Premium” and call your product what it is ‘BUSINESS’ and then fix it. Priority check-in, priority bag tags, priority boarding, priority debarkation. You have a stunning, well designed, hard product in brand new planes, but you’ve dressed it down so far and come up with non-standard nomenclature for it. It’s like the USA calling domestic business class ‘First’. Were it not for those glaring deficiencies, this would have been 5 stars, if not 5 stars Plus. The highlight of Greenland for us was Ilulissat - undoubtedly, but can’t imagine going to Greenland again until Air Greenland takes these comments onboard.
The staff were lovely, the plane was clean and the seats fairly roomy
Strategi er forsvundet hos Air Greenland. Eller skal man kalde det Air Greenlate?
Very nice persons with very much patience and a good stay in the next hotel
I booked flights from Ilulissat to Nuuk and from Nuuk to Copenhagen, but the journey was very disappointing. The flight from Ilulissat was delayed by about 50 minutes, and to make matters worse, my baggage was lost and left behind in Ilulissat. In fact, everyone on my flight experienced lost baggage.
How can it be acceptable that the flight is delayed and then all passengers lose their luggage? On top of that, the service was poor and unhelpful.
This experience has left me so frustrated that I no longer wish to visit Greenland again.

Dont go with Air Greenland if you can not afford a delay of 3-5 days because it is very common. Not kidding. It literally is. Flew with them last year and was stück for three days in Greenland. Right now stück five days in Nuuk. Took two other flights on this trip that were both delayed three hours. The airport is chaos. An entire plane had to reboard earlier today because of problems in Security in the airport. Earlier this week a plane was cancelled because they put water in the fuel tank. De-icing broken. And so on. I hate to say it but it is the worst I have ever seen and seems like a dangerous mess. I pray accidents do not happen.

Do not travel with Air Greenland, if you want to go home in the same month year you go out!!
They do not give damne about you as a paying guest, but they take your money.

We were rebooked so many times without any explanation. The staff were incredibly rude and completely incompetent. If you’re going to Greenland take any other option than these rank amateurs

Such a disgusting airline!
Luggages left in Ilulissat for 2 days as it was windy and plane was too heavy…. (They would not do it to greenlandic people), 5.5hours delay from Nuuk to CPH. Lost connection.
They don’t reply to emails! But will take this matter to the danish aviation!
We are entitled to the compensation!!!
My reply to you: instead of your excuses to my review, you should reply to our emails! And provide us the closing report of our delayed luggages!!!!

Expect delays and cancellations, even in good weather. All with absolutely appalling communication (read zero communication whatsoever).
Oh, and you are not covered by any delay legislation (or at least AirGreenland is dodging it).
Service on board is actually really good and staff quite friendly.
Serious questions regarding maintenance standards given the alarming percentage of their fleet grounded by technical issues.
Best to avoid.

I did not actually have the chance to fly on Air Greenland because my Air Greenland flight was delayed so they put me on an Iceland air flight. My destination was Iceland. But I was not in a real hurry so I did not feel stressed about the four-hour delay. The agent at the gate gave us an Icelandair boarding pass and we also got the food that we were supposed to get on Air Greenland. We received a little box of spicy chicken salad before getting on the plane.
