You definitely could not find a company more useless than this. Seriously.... How this company is allowed to operate is beyond me. When they want money they will be easy to contact, when you need something you never get any reply. Ignorant, unprofessional and a complete joke of a company. Has to be one of the worst in the UK
Mainstay incompetence.
I want to rate mainstay zero as regards bill for land rental, I own an apartment in Wednesbury west midlands, I recently recieved a bill for ground rent for £496 so I paid this then after that a bill for £200 I paid the £496 but then the other letter said £200 I am so so angry about this useless and incompetent are the least I can say ripping good working people off from what I can see fat cats getting richer on the working class folks as I work in the NHS you should be ashamed of your selves get my bill correct and give me my £296 back as I unlike you have to work hard for my money.😡

This organisation is the WORST letting agency. They are impossible to get a hold of, and take months to do essential repairs. Customer service is non existent.
I was left with a leaking bedroom ceiling for 3 months!! I pay a lot of money for a flat falling into disrepair and they do not care.
They constantly LIE about contractors being on the way or organised when nothing is happening. It is infuriating. Trying to get repairs actioned is like a full time job. It took me 6 months of constant messages and phone calls to get a key fob sent out. Then they sent me one that doesn't work.
I know the housing market is difficult now, but please AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They also now trade under the Campions- be aware!!

Update on my last review Mainstay made excuses up not to pay back my deposit,even though I had handed the key back and Mainstay failed to attend the property to take the key back at the arranged times

I've been trying to contact Mainstay Lettings for some time as I have a property I would like to rent out, but they simply never answer their phone. Every time I phone, the phone is answered, there's one second of office noise, then the phone is slammed down. Literally every single time. They don't have any kind of voicemail or any way to leave a message.
They also never reply to emails.
God knows what a nightmare they must be to actually be a client of, how can you run a property management agency when you literally never answer your phone??

Luckily my apartment block is no longer being managed by the mainstay clowns (VERY polite description for them) We have had poor service from them for years and nothing ever gets resolved. If (big if) it does, it takes months of chasing and chasing. Shouldn't be allowed to trade. They take enough money. Shocking.
Truly terrible customer service
Truly terrible customer service. I have emailed dozens of times, the phone number goes to a call center in South Africa. No one ever gets back to you. The customer service is non existent. Consistently fob you off. I have lost a house sale as a result so as you can imagine I am fuming and outraged that a company is able to function in this manner.

Mainstay were bought out way back in 2020 by a company called First Port. I just had an email from First Port "updating" me on the take over. For context this is literally the first correspondence I've had regarding a Mainstay take over, they didn't think it was important to let me know via letter or email at this would happen.
This email I had today was utterly out of the blue and I was shocked I'd not been told before.

The most frustrating part is the staff do not call you back after saying they will to update you on progress. No access to allocated spaces due to Mainstay not being able to action their internal processes. Genuine lack of ‘genuine’ customer service.

I can't get any reply. They randomly added 50% to my ground rent - citing unsupported figures to justify the daylight robbery. Have written once, called once emailed once. And guess what - no reply.
Still waiting for them to get their act…
Still waiting for them to get their act together and respond to my solicitors enquiries some months later! Jeopardising the chain I am in. Emails get ignored and my patience tested to the limit. I hope and pray never to do business with this Micky mouse company again .

worst company i have ever experienced. 9 emails in 5/6 weeks - 0 response.
everything is broken, can't get into our property via the car park as they have changed the gates and not updated our fobs (2 months this has been the case) send us a bill for an EXTRA £900 AS there has been a "defecit". Sunday someone from outside was able to access the car park as the front door has been broken (numerous email sent to report this no response) they broke into our car and stole everything - reported to mainstay still no contact. IM FURIOUS AND WILL BE TAKING THIS AS FAR AS I CAN

Extremely incompetent and poor service at every level. This company will lie to you and to cover it up they will not hesitate to fire falsely accused contractors simply to hide their own incompetency.
They mismanage their own staff by forcing them to step down to lower-paid roles - and this is also based on false accusations.

Accounting procedures are very poor. Quick to charge for any late payment, for whatever reason. Very slow to refund any overcharge.
Repairs and maintenance very expenhsive for a new development.
Emergency service numbers are mostly unattended and with little response. We had a drainage problem and it took over a month to get someone here. We are still waiting for the problem to be fixed two months later.

Six weeks ago I asked for a copy of a large invoice which apparently related to our service charge. They can’t provide it.
I’ve asked how our invoices are calculated. They can’t tell me.
The accounts were 7 months late with no explanation. We were told there was a £21k deficit across the development. The actual figure is a tenth of that.
They can’t explain anything. A cynic might think they were making things up.
Oh and it goes without saying that the actual maintenance is woefully substandard - eg no gardener since March.
The government needs to close this…
The government needs to close this company down. They have raised our service charge by 300 pound a year and for what?? Cleaners turn up, clean nothing, sign the sheet then leave, the bin area is a disgrace never gets cleaned, the grounds maintenance is poor with the laurels and bushes over grown, repairs don't get carried out, emails don't get answered, renovations are due every 10 years and are currebtlt 7 years late and still refusing to carry them out, Matthew Reynolds who runs our block is just a useless person who does NOTHING for his salary. Mainstay use our block as a cash cow, constantly bleeding money out of us and forever rising there prices for the pathetic level of service they provide. I can't wait to sell up and move out of this hell hole mainstay use to bleed money out of us. God I hope these clown get shut down one day. The amount of leaseholders they have ripped off with no repocushions is absolutely ludicrous. Terrible company
