Axminster Town Council engaged Carbon Sense through the EDDC Carbon Action Fund to produce a carbon report and help shape a transformative decarbonisation strategy for the Guildhall. The Carbon Sense team brought clarity, ambition, and deep technical expertise, developing a bold plan to eliminate gas use, enhance energy efficiency, and double solar battery capacity. With their guidance, we fully disconnected gas in March 2025 and now generate more energy than we consume, cutting annual bills by over £8,000 and achieving a 16-tonne carbon reduction almost overnight. This is a model project that showcases Carbon Sense’s ability to deliver real, measurable impact for communities and climate alike.

Carbon Sense undertook a full Carbon Audit and Reduction Plan for the Church in September 2024 - As we have undertaken other Carbon surveys in the past I can say that the Consultants at Carbon Sense were very knowledgeable and helpful in understanding our own situation and helping us to find practical and affordable solutions. Subsequently they have remained in contact and offered a service to find and move to more renewable energy sources. They have been very supportive in this process and again reflected and met the specific requirements that we asked for.

Carbonsense are our energy partner. They have several strings to their bow. They have been our energy broker and helped us into energy contracts that are good value, good for the planet and aligned our renewal dates to make the admin easier.

They also helped us with measuring our carbon footprint calculation and the making of our towards net zero carbon plan. They alerted us to some useful seminars and other learning opportunities that we might not have heard of without them.

Adela Mei from Carbon Sense helped us through the whole process of successfully obtaining a significant grant via the East Devon Carbon Action Programme. In particular she gave us excellent advice on what size solar/battery solution to choose that would have the best chance of successfully obtaining funding, she expedited the delivery of our Carbon Reduction Plan in time to apply for the first round of funding and reviewed our application/provided invaluable feedback prior to submittal. We now have our solar PV/battery system up and running and we are delighted with it. Carbon Sense helped our community shop by providing the expertise for us to put together a carbon footprint report and action plan in order to obtain a grant to install solar panels (the 'date of experience' below is the date the panels were actually installed!). With the expansion of the sales area of the shop during 2024, which involved additional fridges and freezers and then permanent air conditioning, we found that our electricity bill was becoming quite alarming, so that installing solar panels and batteries seemed a logical solution. It was a lengthy process that began in September 2024, but we were helped all the way to understand the principles and processes involved, and someone was always at the end of an email to answer our questions.

Adela at Carbon Sense was very supportive and helpful with two of our grant applications. She helped us learn from the first one which wasn't successful to improve our submission on the next one which was successful. I don't think we would have achieved this without her help.
