Makro online purchase is very USELESS
Makro online purchase is very USELESS. On the 24 June i made an order at Makro through Payflex. 2 days later no confirmation of the order was received. I called them trying to find out what went wrong, i was told that my order was invalidated due to non allocation of funds. I provided proof that the funds where paid, but was told its invalidated. They will refund the money that was paid because they cannot link the payment to my order. I was told i would get the refund with 14 working days. We are now approaching a month with no refund and no communication.
3 months delayed refund
Its been 3 months now trying to get my refund from makro. R4800 and Ive sent everything they ask from me yet nothing is done.
Everyday when i wake up i call them yet i will end the call with nothing.
I used my hard earned money to buy food and now i have nothing to give my family but makro benefited. Case no. TIGM
Makro Online - what has gone wrong ?
We have used Makro online many, many times with absolutely no issues and quick deliveries. This past week, though, we have ordered something and now 8 days later there has been no delivery nor any explanation. We have emailed and phoned and no solution. Our order number is OD434840451725943100

On 6 July 2025, I placed an online order with Makro Crown Mines. I was a bit anxious after reading several negative reviews, but I proceeded with the payment, hoping everything would go smoothly.
This morning, I contacted the call centre to check on my delivery. The agent asked me to hold while he got in touch with the courier company. He confirmed that my order had been dispatched and would be delivered today. Shortly after, I received an SMS with the driver’s contact details. I called him to confirm if he had my order, and he assured me that he did.
Within an hour and a half, the delivery van arrived, and all my items were delivered. Well done, Makro!

I bought a freezer online on Monday 23 June. Paid by card; error message appeared "Payment failed" but the amount had gone off my account.
Called the next day, was asked to send a mail my bank statement which I did. Was promised to have feedback within 48 hours which never happened.
Called again today only to be advised that freezer will not be delivered and a refund would be made in 14 working days (which is you add on the 3 already passed would be 17 days). The customer care consultant said "they are experiencing an issue with allocations".
The issue was escalated to the customer care manager who (although friendly and sympathetic) said - that's the way it is.
So Makro SA is sitting with my funds. I have no freezer, cannot simply go out and buy another one and have to wait 14 working days for a refund on an issue that was not of my doing.
How is this acceptable? Can you imagine how much money Makro is earning interest on every 14 working days?
I will not be purchasing anything from Makro SA again. Their lack of customer care is shocking and they deserve to loose business to retailers that actually exercise customer care
Poor customer service
Purchased a few items via online makro. Items were delivered with one outstanding. A week later I call customer service and was told the item will be delivered in the week. Get an email today that a refund has been processed. Called customer service and was told that Makro could not get a hold of the supplier and the item is still for sale on their website. Ordered from Makro online. Absolute delivery nightmare. Driver attempted to deliver - an already delayed order - at 20:30. Would not recommend using the delivery option at all if you ever want to receive the item. Ordered on the 11th June, is now the 23rd. Very frustrated.

I ordered lights online on the 9th of June. After paying I saw that I can only ecpect it on the 18th. 2 Days before the 18th I noticed that it has was even not even packed for shipment. I contacted macro 3 times. No feedback. On the day it should arrive, I contacted Macro online again. The lady on the phone said it is the company which they buy the lights from that has delayed and that they cannot give me a answer when it will be shipped. No refunds for orders Makro cancels
I placed an order for R2500 on the Makro website two months ago. Nothing happened, I emailed after 10 days and the order was cancelled with an email saying I would be refunded in a ridiculous 3 weeks. I have called and emailed a dozen times now and still have not received my refund six weeks later. I've sent them my bank statements and a confirmation letter from my bank and all I've been told is it's with the finance department. No one calls me back. Worst customer service ever. Regarding an online order placed on 20 May 2025 for two fridge/freezers, which you cancelled due to a “system glitch” on 29 May with the promise of a full refund.
It is now well over the promised 10 working days, and I have still not received my refund. I have been more than patient, but this ongoing delay is absolutely unacceptable and shows a clear lack of urgency or accountability from your side.
After multiple emails, countless follow-ups, and the inconvenience of having to travel to the Polokwane store to buy the items again, I am now left out of pocket and completely ignored.

My previous experiences at Makro Cornubia have been enjoyable.
I applied for Makro credit facility and was offered credit by finance company RCS.
I purchased a Gen Pro portable power station from in-store, as I'm still wary of making online purchases comfortably, knowing how easy it's getting for ordinary sensible ppl to b scammed.
As product was purchased on credit, I believed the insurance protection would cover any damages, issues etc.
After 3 weeks of intermittent use for mainly charging fone laptop fan (eskom so far not responded to my application for new power source) hence, power station, there was a loud bang and from front room to bedroom, 2secs, explosion, huge fire, toxic chemical fumes, basically, I too would have been vaporized, as did contents of my bedroom, which had car keys, house keys travel docs, drivers licence, the whole works, but gr8 efforys by my guardian angels and son and neighbours and fire brigade and being alive and well is an absolutely marvelous outcome, given that if I'd gone into room to get my wallet or suitcase, i would have been toast.
Staff at makro were not helpful, in fact, manager resigned, so no one was dealing with issues.
RCS, finance company has been harassing me, until I threatened to get solicitors to deal with the issue.
Basically, I'm having to pay for a product purchased from them, exploded and remains just ash n metal, while they claim they've not received payment.
Word is that insurance would have paid out if I'd died, sustained injury or disability, loss of income, which is not applicable, as I'm alive and kicking, more like spitting venom, until I meditate n release my frustration.
I know several ppl have had issues with Makro, this surely takes the biscuit.

At Checkers I asked young lady for a dozen chicken wings and she brought out a small container which would not have been big enough, at which stage as she was struggling to put in a few wings, I realized she had not understood what a dozen was, so I'm sorry, but I calmly demonstrated to her using my fingers to count out dozen, I got very ugly look and quite frankly, if the only qualification u need to get a job is to be indigenous black, SA is on a road to nowhere. MAKRO CORNUBIA DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR
Last year I purchased an Hp laptop from Makro Cornubia for my first year college, with the money i saved and had endless problems with it.
With the laptop being still under warranty, I took it back to Makro and asked for a refund, the lady at returns advised me that, weather you purchased the laptop yesterday it still must go for assessment at ensure, which I agreed.. I took it to ensure and the lady advised me that, I must wait 21 days for strip and assessment. After 21 days I called back and the lady advised me that the hard drive, fan, processor and motherboard was the problem. She stated that they waiting for parts and it will be repaired in 1 month.. it's gone over 8 months and I still haven't received my laptop. I spoke to the tech manager Kerin at Makro who said he will help try and find out what was wrong, after few emails Kerin seized all conversations with me . Weeks pasts and I then asked to speak to the manager of the store, I was transferred to the acting manager Sandile, because the manager was on leave .. Sandile didn't know anything about his role as acting manager and just didn't have answers for anything. Sandile then notified me he will call me back after an hour , hours went past and I called the store, switch board advised me that, HE IS IN THE TOILET and he will call me back .. Again another month has past and no one contacted me.

Poor Service and Lack of accountability_No Refund for items they delivered to wrong address
I purchased two items from Makro Stores Online, but only one was delivered. The second item was allegedly delivered by The Courier Guy—but to the wrong address. I followed up multiple times, and The Courier Guy confirmed that the item was indeed delivered incorrectly.
It’s now been almost two months, and I’m still being taken from pillar to post by both Makro & The Courier Guy. Despite numerous calls and follow-ups, all I get from their call center agents is that “the query is registered” and someone will call me back. No one ever does.
There is a complete lack of urgency, accountability, and customer care. I’ve been more than patient, but this experience has been frustrating and unacceptable. All I want is a refund for the item I never received. The way this issue has been handled raises serious concerns about their commitment to customer satisfaction.
DONT BUY FROM MAKRO
I purchased an electric car for my child on Monday 19/05/2025 which was in stock at R2900, about 5 left. The next morning i received an email saying my money will be refunded the 9th June 2025!!!! no communication from them explaining anything at all. I immediately contacted them and then they told me the reason why the order was cancelled was due to the supplier not having stock anymore, yet the item now shows on their website in stock for R6800!! i demanded that i wanted the item i ordered regardless of where they source it from and for the price i paid for it. I spoke to Abongile and Ayanda and i am still waiting on feedback today 22/05/2025. I ordered this car for my daughters birthday 25/05/2025 and it was supposed to be delivered the 24/05/2025 only for them to email with a refund due to their incompetence
